The
Long Wait - As
some of you may know, Eisley's delay in
fulfilling one of AP's
most anticipated records of
2006 was
the result of their decision to accept an offer from Warner
Bros label-mates
- Taking
Back Sunday to tour Australia &
the UK.
Ok, so they sandwiched a headlining tour in between. It was
all very important. For pics and
behind-the-scene stories on
all of that, visit TrolleyWood.
The Experience -
Eisley was more than thrilled to joined forces with
film composer Richard
Gibbs, to complete the
their 2nd (favorite) record - tracked at Woodshed
Studio located on Point
Dume in Malibu, CA. Guys, I have to say - the vibe created during
the these recording sessions was important...
and had direct impact on the outcome.
The
band was
actually happy.
Not only because the studio enjoys a
ridiculous scenic
view of the Pacific
Ocean,
but... because it wasn't located in the chaos of
Hollywood :-). Of course, at the
end of the day - it's the people,
not the locaton -
but there was really something magical about
Richard's studio as
well as the house where
we stayed.
Anyway, it's an opinion; we've yet to hear final
mixes (this week), but this new record is the band's strongest
work. It's quite amazing and is turning ears
at WB.
The Team - Richard,
who became an ardent Eisley fan after
seeing 3 of their "Final
Noise" shows earlier
this year, was keyboard player for Oingo
Boingo w/ front man and collegue, Danny Elfman, before
he became a session player, tracking keys for artists like
Tom Waits, Robert Palmer, Aretha Franklin, etc. Still, he's
best known for his 50+ film scores - including "Queen
of the Damned", "Say
Anything", "Battlestar Galactica", "The
Simpsons" along with Disney and Muppets features. Eisley
seemed the perfect fit - and vice versa... The classic production
team was completed by veteran engineer/mixer - Csaba
Petocz - Elton John, Frank Sinatra, Etta James,
Metallica and Elvis Costello. Bottom line - it's he perfect
match; highly creative... resourceful.
Look for a Making Of bonus video on the CD.
Last Show of the Year - "A
Very Buzz
Oven Christmas
Show with Eisley and friends".
Basically one of those ole' fashion local
shows; lots of bands - starts early afternoon. 2 Stages.
Eisley headlines at 10:00pm. Dec. 17th in Dallas, TX (Plano).
Get tickets
here.
Expect
the band to dust off the some new studio tunes in preparation
for an early Spring record release (April 1st or so).
YouTube Front Page, NewYears Day -
Just finished editing a 3.5 minute Eisley clip for YouTube
to go on-line New Year's day. There are several, brief,
unmixed teaser snippets of new songs. It's not slick, but...
hmm, it's very YouTube (eccentric, intiment, arbitrary,
jocular).WB has the entire front page and wanted Eisley
featured.
Sherri - 23 and Still Single -
But only for less than 3 more months. Yep, it appears
that tours can be really important to bands; But some tours
alter (altar) the course of history. Remember Eisley's
60 show opening slot - NFG? Well, Sherri and Chad Gilbert
are to be wed late February after a 1 year engagement.
Sorry guys.
TOURING -
All this stuff is on the drawing table. Depends on whether
or not they open for some big act... or maybe headline
their own tour. Think mid-March. Updates soon.
NewsBlasts -
The winds are picking up speed so expect more of these
gusts before the storm.
