Came across this article when checking to see if there had been any coverage of the anniversary of its release. It's been a beast of year (for me they span school years instead of calendar years) so the actual release date slipped by me, which parallels what happened when Room Noises initially came out. I'd lost track of the progress on the recording of the album after being introduced to the band in Fall of 2003, and visiting the forum for updates the following year. My GF at the time came across the album at Hastings at some point in 05' and bought it, and that was when I got to hear it, and picked it up myself, only to fade back out of awareness for another three years... when I resurfaced and joined this forum as part of the capstone experience in life transitions.

Anyways, the article https://tinnitist.com/2025/07/01/classic-album-review-eisley-room-noises/#google_vignette

When and where was Kind (live) recorded? / digital booklet

I ordered The Valley direct from the Equal Vision website when pre-orders became available. My order came with the vinyl version of the album, which I have no way of playing. When I found out there were extra tracks for the deluxe digital version, I went to Amazon and bought the extra tracks, but I don't think I ever got whatever the digital booklet was. Does anyone have that and can you post it? Is it different from what's at Discogs?

I ask because I'm at the end of a major overhaul of my music library and the one thing I can't find, after scouring everything from Wikipedia to pirate sites to Taiwanese sites I can't even read, is when and where track 14, a live performance of Kind, was performed. I was able to find out everything else I was looking for, whether it's the date for the Ventura Theater show that's on the Combinations DVD (4/28/06), or whether or not 'jet plane' has a space in it.

Best Eisley Song

Not favorite like Wil posted.
I tend to be able to separate on what i feel is the best song versus my favorite.

as an example, my favorite Beatles song is Hey Bulldog. But I know that's not their best song.

So, with that in mind, taking all the catalogue in play what do you feel is thier best song?
I have a few that I feel are in the top

HATS
Ambulance
Better Love
Golly Sandra

But I am torn between these two for the same reason.

Memories
Ten Cent Blues

I feel both show Sherri and Stacy's ability to play off each other and sing together. Plus they are amazing tunes.

What are your thoughts?

Bad Grammar in Marvelous Things?

So, Marvelous Things is one of my favourite Eisley songs, but there's one part that has always puzzled me about it. It is the opening line "I woke the dawn / Saw horses growing out the lawn".

Taking this literally it sounds like horses are letting grass grow without cutting it i.e. they're "growing out the lawn" the way a person "grows out their hair". But I think what is meant is that horses are growing out of the lawn, but the word "of" is missing. At least, that's how I always took it.

I've always wondered if my interpretation of that line was correct and if the word "of" was dropped to make the song flow better or if I've been wrong this whole time. I've also wondered if this phrasing is an old-fashioned way of speaking since Eisley does do that from time to time e.g. "Bold endeavors by and by", archaic pronunciation of "wingéd".

Anyway, this is really nerdy and nitpicky, but I thought this would be the best place to ask the question lol.

Is Eisley done?

Hello all,

I was never a big poster here and I'm not sure if anyone remembers me, but I recently listened to Room Noises and remembered how much I love that album and a lot of high school memories came flooding back as I reminisced how much Eisley, and that album in particular meant to me back then.

I realized I hadn't thought much about Eisley in recent days and, of course, the reason is that they've been pretty quiet. When Stacy, Chauntelle, and Weston left the band, I figured that was the end and I was heartbroken. Then I'm Only Dreaming came out in 2017 (four years ago already!) and I was pleasantly surprised at just how good that album is.

Anyway, do you guys think we will ever get another album from them or was I'm Only Dreaming their unofficial goodbye?

Your favorite Eisley song, past and present..

The subject crossed my mind after putting what I consider my favorite Eisley song on a driving around mix cd.

To answer the question myself, Tree Tops and Marvelous Things were my favorite songs, more so the latter if I had to pick one. But now, for musical and emotional reasons, Lights Out is my favorite Eisley song without question. I love many Eisley songs, but the genesis of Lights Out resonated so deeply at the time, only more so since. For me it's a resounding anthem, the inversion of the lullaby-like nature of Marvelous Things.

I imagined Marvelous Things as a song sung to comfort a child afraid of the dark. Lights Out is very much a song about carrying on in the face of losing shelter and trying to wake a loved one from their slumber, to paraphrase the song itself. It has always struck a nerve with me, but especially as the circumstances of my own life and that of my family have leaned into similar realities as those surrounding Lights Out.

What a gift this band & family have given us.
