"I Wasn't Prepared" inspiration

So I was watching an interview with the band ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwb_JwDkmdE - it's great), and Sherri mentioned that "I Wasn't Prepared" was partially inspired by an old Disney movie called "Summer Magic." I dug around, and I'm pretty sure it's this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIOEcv87Cm8

You can hear the elongated "oohs" in both songs:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z5mPOqyTlo

Thought it was pretty cool! Curious if they've talked about inspirations in other songs...

So, a roundtrip Megabus ticket is $11 (way cheaper than gassing up my station wagon) from St. Louis, and I'd have to use 2 of my vacation days to make the trip... but I don't have any other vacation type stuff planned so why not???

Just checked pollstar, and Eisley's show is one of 2 listened for that town that week... Wow, I always thought Memphis got more love that St. Louis show's wise. Technically I guess they do since we haven't gotten an Eisley headlining show since the MMMW tour.

I hope these dates don't overlap with the Thrice reunion (heh!) tour.

Oh, the show is $12-$14, so $25 for roundtrip public transportation and a show and the return trip leaves at 5:40am so swinging an all-nighter and sleeping on the ride back wouldn't be out of the question.

I am unable to go to the New York show at Bowery Ballroom due to the show I'm working on getting extended. However, I already purchased and received my ticket.

Does anyone in the New York area want it? I'd love to get $15 for it, but I'll also give it away for free if someone wants to go. I just don't want it to go to waste.

My friend.
She is a great person.
And a great mom to a happy, healthy 4-year old.
But she can be a little out there.

She took her daughter to the chiropractor for a SPINAL ADJUSTMENT.
I asked her if everything was okay and she said "Oh yes, it's fine. Her back was "out" in a few places but he fixed it and he wants to see her back in a week".

All I can think is that my friend is getting scammed like crazy.
A healthy 4-year old that plays outside and does sports and her spine is maladjusted and needs correction?

And he wants to see her back in a week so he can take more of their money?

Snake Oil or something kids need?

LCers are always full of surprises and bring up people I've let slip from my radar over time. That said, during lunch today I turned on thecooltv and they were playing the video for Beth Orton's Central Reservation (the William Orbit remix if I recall). She was actually name dropped in a Lana Del Rey review I read yesterday, so that go me thinking...

So yeah, I just want to see what the LC comes up with. I figure 1 artist per post. Say who, and say why they came to mind?

Those in "the know" can hip those in the dark.

So yeah, Whatever Happened to Beth Orton?
