sitting in lobby of hotel in Brisbane drinking a triple lotte. (all "coffee's" in Australia are small. Forget venti's... they don't exist. Large is like a Starbucks grande at the very most. Mostly small = large). The TBS TM just came over to say goodbye and tell us how amazing the band and the people of Eisley were... that he hopes we'll cross paths again. That was nice. Just saying goodbye to the promoters, the crew... Well. That's about it for now.

The final exhibition down under
Eisley wins the battle; endorsement by TBS
Eisley's final show in Brisbane was one of my favorites. With an exciteable TBS crowd chanting "TBS! TBS! TBS!", the smaller Texas band set up their own gear literally engulfed and dwarfed by the electrically charged headliner enthusiasm. Eisley walked back into the dressing room - stealth, reserved, cautious - waiting their turn as the mob impatiently expressed their lack of need for any more 'support' bands.
That's when Adam stepped in... "I think i want to go out there and say a few words before you guys go on... would that be cool? - or, are you ok with that..." (eisley shruggs) "It's whatever you think... " Adam: "are you down?" Eisley: "sure... it's ok with us".
I will bring this to you on video because i just thought it was so amazing... Here's the headlining band's rock star briefing his audience about the band he's been wanting to tour with for years... It was a stellar introduction - one that paved the way for Eisley's brilliant set.
It was a great night. We hung out w/ Paul... eisley's original Australian fan (date back - circa: Coldplay era). Tons of fans swarmed the band after as we were driving off... and followed us to the hotel where they proceeded to get autographs and smiles. Thank You Australia for giving Eisley such a warm welcome.... thanks for coming to all the xtra shows, for being so cool... friendly... supportive. yeah, all that stuff....
SKINNY'S INSTORE
(earlier that day...) I have video!! but have to crank it out in the midst of a billion things... flying is one, but there's no power in economy... alas, 'foiled!!" But the instore was really sweet. Tons of people came out... the band signed and sold cd's and after, we walked around, bought souvenirs, ate good food, had a blast. Pics coming.... but I have to pack and head to the airport. We're all - TBS and Eisley - leaving for LA today...
We leave on the 19th and get to LA on the 19th. How weird is that... we're heading back to the past (from the future). I really gotta go ya'll... I want to put up some of the amazing instore footage soon.

SYDNEY SHOWS
Those who hear the bell of good vibe
BY THE WAY. THE PREVIOUS POST HAS A NEW EISLEY SONG - FIRST HEARD BY AUSTRALIANS
I have way, way more...but have to leave for the instore in Brisbane!! More later, I swear... boyddown under; Meanwhile - here's the revamp of Sidney, in progress:
Hey all down-unders and up-and-overs
OVER VIEW
The Australian adventure is going great. If i haven't said it before - I'll say it now: Australia should be called Awesumstralia. 1. The people are awesome, 2. The food is awesome. 3. The land is beautiful and Awesome. I'm not just hyping this - the people are SO friendly here. It's like returning to the South in the US - but probably in the 50's. I haven't heard one rude comment yet from anyone. People will talk to you at the drop of a hat... people smile; they seem more layed back. All the food is flavorful and tastey... nothing bland or boring. It's hot but we're from Texas. There is beautiful vegetation and hills and it's... aussum.
Let's talk about Australia's reaction to Eisley
Several things to remember: 1. Eisley is out with a very cool rock band who's fans chant, raise their fists, mosh, sweat, bleed...
2. Australians who come to these shows have no clue who Eisley is until they walk out on stage. 3. While Eisley isn't polar opposite to Taking Back Sunday, we all know the differences in style, emotion, structure, experience, etc. are huge.
Only some are going to hear the bell of good vibe... and respond to it.
Having said that - I'll say, the reaction has been really good. Like in the states, touring w/ Brand New, NFG, Hot Hot Heat, Switchfoot, etc.... Eisley is winnning tons of new fans over here. Will they reach the pnes with the extreme hardcore/punkrock 'tude? - the ones who wouldn't stop throwing stuff at them during their set in Sydney? Probably not. (but sherri dished it back out in a wonderful way).
Sydney Show #1
Eisley was solid... the reaction was good. This was sold out - so there was NO chance of any existing fans getting in. There were some sound issues, of course... monitor issues; The girls couldn't hear so great, but the show was tight.
I was a bit stressed because WB Australia didn't get the CD's delivered in Melbourne for any of the shows... and didn't deliver the CD's they had available to the Roundhouse until the encore of "Taking Back Sunday's" set. I was chasing people and cd's - trying to get a few out before eveyone left. (sigh)
I'm told Sydney is a bit like New York... a little harder scene. I'm not sure if Sydney will be the first to embrace Eisley's music. We'll see.
Sydney Show #2
The second night was way better - the band sounded as tight as I've ever heard them, the sound was pretty much dialed in, and there were fans at the show. You could hear the uprising of Eisley fans - striving to raise the clapter bar. In the end, as usual, the final tune pretty much anchored the cred factor. I really feel like the ones who didn't get it certainly respected it. I don't think you could have heard this set and not walked away saying, Eisley was tight, professional, quality... and would be around for the final count. That's my opion, but I think the crowd pretty much echo'd my hunch.
After, the band signed... by the time I got there, about 15 people were still gathered around... that was after we packed up all our stuff and loaded out. We actually even met relatives there - much to our surprise. My sister in law's "sister's kids" live there. Crazy huh? They were cool... and are very into the music.
Now, I'm going to dig around thru photos and try get some uploaded before lobby call at 11:00am. We have an instore at 12:00 at "Skinny's Records". (I'm obviously in Brisbane now - reporting in after the fact.)
brb w/ photos... at least i'll try. bd
BELOW IS A DELUGE OF FOTTER CREATED AS I WAS TRYING TO STAY AWAKE TO REPORT ON SYDNEY SHOWS BUT FAILED MISERABLY.
Hey. It's 1:11am and i'm beat... almost out of my mind. I need to post some stuff really bad; but I was hungry... Weston and Garron are cutting ZZzzz's.
So, in spite my brain's cave in - it seemed important to battle the "lifts" to find one that would go downstairs in this massive edifice - to purchase fine food products with random, valuable, Australian coins. I found nacho cheese Doritos in a strange minimal package... oh look - what's inside? a prize? Let's have a look: yes! it's the Bart Simpson TV Treat Game. And what's this candy bar? a "Cadbury BOOST". I need it.
yum....oh man, that's good! (chomp chomp..omgosh... wow) That's my favorite new candy bar but I've never seen them in the US. And as for my drink: a "Solo" - "original Lemon Tang"... though it's not like our "tang".
In Sydney, a nice guy named Graham Nixon, is driving us around and being our escourt. He runs a small record label in Australia called: "Resist". Nice, huh... There's a big hardcore scene here. What's new? Same in the States.
We fly to Brisbane tomorrow and I'm going to work on the plane. I'm cratering now. goodniht. boyd
7:00am. The Girls and I are going to eat breakfast and shop
I want to find something cool for Kim. They want to try the variety of amazing breakfast pies at the little corner deli at the base of this massive sky scraper.
I'm already thinking and bumming that there's no power on the flight home. I need the world to stop so I can catch up... but it's not going to happen in the air.
I did explain to you that I can't resolve my ftp url from this ip. I don't know why. Basically, i can't upload any media to our server from this hotel. I'll do it from the Brisbane hotel. Thanks for your patience.
We've been invited to go to the Koala Zoo in Brisbane w/ Taking Back Sunday and crew today. The whole lot of us are going to finally see Kanagroo's and pet Koala bears. I'm hoping one of them doesn't lose their temperment and attack our flesh in a mad flurry of claws and teeth and gristle and fur and bone and blood. That'd be a dangerous, dangerous thing. I'd rather they just be sorta comatose and cuddly. I hear we get to walk around the Kanga's. You can only imagine what i hope doesn't happen with that situation.
Gotta shower and pack. boyd
