Lazy Days & Lazy Nights

Lazy Day's and Chirpy Nights

Driving down a typical country road - Tyler, TX

Tonight was lazy. We ate at Mings... rather, we were going to; we ended up bringing it home... and after - went back to Starbucks... and then came back home... and had birthday cheescake. I walked out on the deck for a short, reflective pause... and heard the sounds of a 100 piece symphonic bug orchestra. I say "bugs" but I think I was actually hearing frogs. It was more of a gribbity sound. Maybe a bit of everything; we have katydids and all kinds of eery night creepies that make their night music in Texas.

I love the South for that reason. Is it like that in the Mid-west, North West, North East, West & South West? I've only lived in the South... and I'm talkin' way down South: Lafayette, Louisiana.

Anyway... whatever happened to fireflies? Did we extinct those little bright-lites? I never see 'em anymore. And what happened to Horned Toads (we called 'em horny toads in the 60's and i swear it wasn't vulgar). We used to catch 'em in Palestine, TX when we were kids. I haven't seen them in decades. These questions and more...

Mass Birthday
We had a bunch of birthday's in a row so we did a mass b-day thing - actually last week. Kim made some amazing cakes... and 3 kinds of home made ice cream... and 2 kinds of home made sauces. I already tole ya'll... but i had a pic.

I heard from a friend that fireflies are endangered. So sad, especially since they are such a great part of memories!

Here in south Missouri we have a full on bug/frog (I think most of it are locus and crickets though) symphony playing nightly and fireflies out every night (well they were a week or so ago, I haven't seem them around since).

The Pacific NW doesn't have many vocal bugs. We get those little teeny ones at night when the weather gets all warm. They fly/hop around and always land on your face. I heard they only live for 24 hours though, so I can't be mean to them anymore. And boy.... those cakes look GOOD!!
