I Deleted this Journal.
NO, not because the comment section was hijacked by meaningless controversy; I swear... not. Call it a "SideKick" mishap. (That's a personal device - T-Mobil) Anyway, today, 2 days later than when this post was originally made, we were walking around the Promenade in Santa Monica. The girls were shopping and I hate to shop, (though I bought 3 western shirts from Old Navy for $5 each yesterday) so... I was kinda bored.
I was just going to add a bit to journal #13, I wrote some more... hit submit found out I wasn't logged in, copied the text, went back to Trolleywood, logged in, scrolled down, hit edit and prompty pasted in the entire contents of edit #13 into the entry right below #13, which was Malibu Entry #12. I tried to go back (undo, return, back space, etc.) on my SideKick and find the old text, but... alas, it was too late. It's caused my brain a considerable amount of grief. I'm really bummed. I'll toss the images back up... that's about it. Thanks and sorry. boyd

No secrets on this song... it's all over the internet, thanks to my keen sense of video crapturing... u know, Eisley's live show clips. But start thinking of this pic, when you think of this song from now on.

I'll do my best to add back in some filler copy - or whatever I can remember about this post. Does anyone have a copy of my blatherings?

The controversial comment section all stemmed from the fact that i mentioned, in passing, that, among many instruments, a Balinesian Gamelan was used. I should add, now... in one song, modestly; possible that none of you would even know where or what it was. But I make no excuses for the band or the producer of this unfolding record. It's the best thing Eisley has ever done. The critical comment that first emerged took everyone by surprise and resulted in 75 little arguments. Well, that's the dynamic of journals... forums; So, I say, NO matter. I'll try to reconstruct something about my journal. Thanks guys. boyd

gamelan? ick! that's one of the absolute worst cliches of overly pretentious psuedointellectual instrumental music that never fails to make me vomit. this was "ribbs" idea, wasn't it? he's exactly the kind of idiotic and talentless composer who overuses these faux "world music" cliches (reference "step into liquid"... ick! ick! ick! like yanni, with dreadlocks.)

unless you guys are seriously incorporating authentic gamelan music into your sound (which would be fine by me), just scrap any of that crap you've recorded. okay?

i know you probably aren't listening to my ideas, but, still... ick!

You might as well fly the rest of the family out.
I'm sure the Malicrew would enjoy such acquaintance.

Hmmm, someones a little appalled by the new music sounds, I guess?
Well, I have no idea what a gamelan [sp?] is, but I trust Eisley and all that they work with to come up with something that sounds magical. Please hurry with production....I can't wait very much longer!

XO, Samantha

it's just that psuedo-"gamelan" music is so tacky, and cliche, and ridiculous. it's been used by a million talentless "new-age" and "world-beat" musicians trying to get a "jungly", or "tropical", or whatever, sort of "ambience", and all it ever does it make me think "oh god... here we go again...", and then promptly vomit. it's the kind of thing john tesh, or whatever idiot is behind those "sounds of the jungle" sort of albums, would use, not eisley...

wikipedia has a pretty good article on it, but, like any article on wikipedia, it should be used more as a starting point than the final word.

Lovely title alliteration, Boyd.

I'm glad that you are a very creative and interesting person. I'm a fan of clever subjects/titles.
