Does anyone ever notice I have to do this quite often?
Well, I don't mind. I sorta enjoy it. But yes, with 8 immediate fambly members... it happens pretty often. If I had 4 more, and I'd be doing it once a month. Since this is my very own journal, it's hard not to include other-than-eisley birthday's. I try to keep things pretty much in BAND WORLD, but... meh, whatever. I write what sells; and the editor pays me handsomely. In any case, this birthday post is actually for an Eisleyoid... the OLDEST one, mind you.
Follow the Yellow Brick Road
HEY! - is it fair to say that Eisley isn't a young, youthful, kid, teen band anymore? I mean, sure... they're still siblings and sure.. they're mostly girls, but come on... they've been dealing with this rhetoric... this stigma since Stacy was 9 and Chauntelle was 15. Have you checked their ages lately?
Isn't it possible that after hundreds and hundreds of shows ranging from small dive-in-the-wall-smoke-filled-21+ bars to Madison Square Garden arenas, from Rhode Island to Florida to Seattle... to the mountains, and the prairies... to the oceans - white with foam, from Canada to Australia to England, that we could change the image? You'd think after 2 ep's and a full length, a string of itunes eps, 3 headlining tours ... not to mention being 3/4ths finished with their 2nd major release on Warner Bros. - that Eisley has finally earned the right to be properly branded as a regular BAND... a and not a teen band.
Well, in case no one has deemed it true, I hereby do so right here and now. They've certainly earned the right - if by no other virtue or bestowance than aging alone. Sherri is 23, Chauntelle is 25... Weston is 20. Stacy is 18.... ok, Garron is 16 but... it's not like Eisley modeled and read a part at 6 to become a childhood actor; NO. They entered path at square one just like any band... jamming in their bedrooms. They've worked hard for 7 years; they've followed their dream without waver... they've dealt with Lions and Tigers and Bears (oh my) along that path.
Home is a place, far... far away. Their bedroom - now a symbol. And, this ain't Kansas anymore. They've been sucked up and swirled and churned by Tornados, they've looked the wicked witch of the West in the eye... have visited the Wizard in Emerald City, ... have ignored the "Surrrender Dorothy" doubters.... have been plucked off the ground by evil, flying munchkins and faced their biggest fears in dark forests... they've fought... they've won.... they've learned that they have heart, brains, courage...
So, I hereby give them a new medal: The medal of Tenure. And I now symbolically place it around the neck of the oldest member of Eisley... because they no longer need to search for maturity and wisdom that come with age. They had everything they needed all along... and now they have the medal of Tenure - as a reminder.
This might be the silly-ous thing I've ever writen, but no matter how cheezy it sounds, I really feel it's a relevant, timely subject to explore... to discuss.
Will Eisley or HAS eisley overcome this stigma? Or is it just in my mind because i was there for the Seventeen magazine interview or because I've read every early press article ever written? ... I saw how they were positioned by the industry from day one.
But most importantly...
Happy Birthday Chauntelle. She's quite amazing ya'll. Gracious, merciful... kindhearted... on and on. She's a neat person. Some of you know it first hand. Thanks for being so loyal and wonderful... for supporting Chauntelle... and the band, lo these many years. And thanks Chauntelle for being so amazing. Happy 25th Birthday.
