Leftover pics from the Brand New tour - Jesse took

January 25, 2004 10:12 AM

I had these pics that Jesse took... thought some of them were good so
here they are. (photo credit: Jesse Lacy) Of course, I doctored them.
Not sure where they're all from. From the entire tour. Thanks.

Novermber 29, New York City. Sin-e'

November 29, 2003 04:38 AM

Hey. I added the real post below this first copy block.

--------------------------
Hey New Yorkers. I'm posting this early - yes, before the show, because,
as I've mentioned, after this show, we're turning on our "TEX-ometer"
and pointing the auto-van towards the great country of Texas after the
show. Since we'll be on the road for like 24 hours straight, I knew I
wouldn't have the chance to get anything up on the forum for a long time.

Hope the show went well and everyone felt the 8 bucks was well worth it.
I will post my usual blathering as soon as I find a Web Depot or a Line-UP
facility. (hotel)

We're in our hotel now...some are still asleep. We check out at 1:00, eat,
hang out in NY, get our van out of it's $75.00 parking spot (sheesh), and
head over to the venue early...(load in supposed to be at 4:00) Doors
open at 7:30, Eisley's weird opening slot as headliner starts at 8:00.
cheers. bd

---------------------------- actual words appear below:

Hi folksy-wolksies. Oh, I must be tired to say something so gay. Welp,
we're driving...driving...driving... ever driving. But first I'll post a shpiel of
spew about Sin-e' and the show that was rendered there last night on the
lower East side of Manhattan - right around the base of the Brooklyn
bridge somewhere. (correct me if I'm wrong)

O.K Uh, well...at first we thought nobody was going to show up. Like, 2
fans were outside the venue at 7:15 in the freezing cold so we told them
to come eat with us. One of them was Sean Ferry, who'd interviewed the
band back in Phillie. He's awesome and it was cool to see him again (he's
the guy who interviewed Travis right before he did Eisley); Also, Heather,
who came, heard about the band from the Seventeen magazine interview
last summer and tracked them down. She drove 3 hours from
somewhere in Long Island to see the band at the Legendary home club of
Jeff Buckley. Anyway, after we got back, there was still no line...and
were sad. But after the band's sound check, I walked outside and...well,
there was a long line. I never heard the count, but the room was
extremely packed.

We were so amazed...Hot Rod guys, Brand New guys, crew guys, Marty
Diamond, Phil who directed their video and his editor and many from
their crew, a nice lady from Warner Brother who's soul job is to get WB
bands into live performances on any broadcast (TV, movies, etc. oh, her
husband owns Triple Crown), Dan who manages Brand New for Nettwerk
was there, and tons more; I don't know where the rest of them came
from, but they came suddenly. And after a swarming deluge at the merch
booth, they were gone...except for some club frequenters or friends of
the bands playing after Eisley; there was a independent writer, Jesse and
his entire family, and the other bands who played and talked to us. We
got to hear a cool band called "National Eye". Nice sound. I bought a T
shirt... i think others bought merch too.

Anyway, Marty was happy, so, we were happy. Oh, and, unofficially...
(stress..off the record) Eisley will do a little Texas tour leading up to New
Years. Like, Houston, Austin, Dallas. All I can tell you is - I think the
Dallas show will be a New Years eve bash. Should be fun, right? More on
that later. This, I suppose is under the radar. I mean, the tour is over
and I'm wasting your time.

While we're on the subject, you guys know that Rob Shnapf (the late
Elliot Smith's producer) is named to do the full length. (see eisleyblog -
titled something like: Eisely has found a producer). As sad as it is, it
seems that Rob's schedule was suddenly cleared out. You have to read
the blog to get the full story. Anyway, looks like Eisley starts pre
production middle of December in LA. and begins recording in January -
whenever it's done; I imagine several months.

Anyway, after the show, we hung out, said goodbyes, cried tears, had 2
minute hugs with everyone, pulled away into the chaos of New York
while screaming about Texas at the top of our lungs, found the Holland
Tunnel and had passed through New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, W.
Virginia, Virginia in 5 hours. We're still stumped on Tennnessee. Dang this
state is half as long as Texas! We're still 97 miles from Memphis. Daniel
and I drove through the night...but he's the road warrior. He drove 8
hours, I drove like 3... and now he's back at the wheel for most of the
day while I work. But I did stay awake almost all night with him -
changing the cd's right on time. So, we're both zombies; we're starting to
look green around the gills; that neon glow is with us... meanwhile this
band we're all interested in is fast asleep back there. What a life. (JUST
kidding)

We should pull in to Tyler around 11:00pm to greet our homies. Everyone
is so excited. I'm out for now. This is the official end of the tour, including
the road trip. Thanks everybody for tuning in. Again, sorry I didn't stay
on top of the pics. Now I have to finish them at home, like I dreaded. The
end. Love, Boyd
--------------------

We pulled in at 11:19, but that's only because Arkansas had their typical
road construction that stopped traffic for an hour. wow. We left new York
on the 29th and got home exactly one day later on the 30th. I don't
recommend that by the way...but, it's great to be home. Christmas lights
and decorum. Awesome. We had a big welcoming party...and the hugs
were non-stop for what seemed like over

Novermber 28, Eisley hanging in Long Island/Manhattan

November 28, 2003 08:01 PM

We woke up all over the in sleeping bags on the floor of the lead singer
of some rock band called Brand New this morning.

First let me get one thing straight. This is to Eisley's existing fans. I am in
no way sucking up or name dropping Brand New for any reason other
than - we've become great friends with them and this is my Xanga. I
speak nothing but the truth on this forum...I tell more than what anyone
needs to hear and I simply write about EXACTLY what we do...day by
day. You might be sick of hearing about Brand New. That's ok. But we've
been guests on their tour - and it's very appropriate to show them thanks
and even to respect their fans on this forum since many of them are also
becoming Eisley fans.

Anyway, backing up a bit, we arrived in Long Eisland about...heck, I don't
remember, we'd driven all night long; Daniel - first shift, me 2nd, Jesse -
3rd and all the way in. After arriving at his family's home, complete with
6 siblings and a set of parents, we sat on the couch and stared in a
stupor. We were zoned. Thank God for the 96 iced down "Yoo-Hoo's"
they'd purchased, we slowly recovered.

It was awesome to get out of hotelville and just hang out in this amazing
environment - a regular family; almost a clone of ours only in the North
East. It was loud, fun, festive..there was lots of great food; the only thing
missing was Kim and Collin, which, again is very sad. But we did eat a
huge Thanksgiving diner with their entire fam. Thanks Sandy; I know
you're reading.

That night, Jesse's dad Tom insisted that Eisley play music for them,
so...we pulled Chauntelle's Larave' out of the trailer and they did 3 or 4
songs; the Lacy's were gracious enough to marvel, being huge Eisley
fans from the youngest to the oldest. By this time, sleeping bags were
strown all over their den floor; I grabbed one and crashed so deeply that
I never heard them all around me till 4:00am when they finally gave up
on the day.

The next morning, those guys fixed us a massive breakfast. Jesse and I
scooted over to some amazing bagel joint and bought the list his dad
gave him. Within an hour we were eating from his dad's FIVE POUND
bacon chunk, bagels with cheese, cream cheese, vegetable cream
cheeze, real butter, fried eggs, etc. It was the best. Tons of deliciousness
and fun at the same time.

Long story short - around 4:00, we said our goodbyes, packed up the
personals and headed into the big city. We checked into this nice hotel
called the Washington Jefferson near the Roseland and walked over to
the venue in the rain to wait for will call; once inside, we got our back
stage passes, and just chilled.

Toward the end of Brand New's set to their sold out 3,300 seater, Sherri
and Stacy graced the stage and helped Jesse sing that one song. He'd
been begging them to join him on that song for half the tour, but they
were too chicken. Anyway, the tune is amazing, the performances were
all great tonight.... Brand New had the best show of the tour.

Also, we met Chris from Dashboard...he walked into the dressing room,
Jesse introduced us to "some guy from Dashboard"....and he stayed to
listen to the them practice their song.

After the show, we went with a big pile of people - mainly comprised of
the Lacey family (spelling? wups) and their NY friends to a place called
"Ray's Pizza" for what Jesse's dad called Pizza Pie. He kept saying, "how's
the pie? Since we're from Texas and never heard the word pie associated
with Pizza, we mocked the word "pie" all night...saying things like, "this
pie is dripping it's pie grease...", or "dang, these pies are hot"...or "can
you hand me another piece of pie?" Tom thought we were mildly funny.
But we were very funny. Seriously, though, that was the best pie I've
ever eaten. No joke.

The band sat with Jesse and some of his neighborhood friends who were
scared to come over to the house to meet Eisley all day.

Eisley was never on this show from the beginning. The tour was built
around that date that was pre-existing. Stray light was booked as the
opener early on. Thus, Eisley's small club show at Sin-e's.

I posted info on the front page of the forum about the show if anyone
wants to come. I think it could easily sell out. (not sure....also, nobody
could show up and we'd feel pretty sad)

ok I officially can't stay awake and am not coherant. Will touch in
tomorrow. falling asleep.

p.s. official info about the new york show listed as new temporary topic
on forum front page if anyone missed it.

Also, I'm about to be heading into the abyss of driving, driving
driving... with few hotels. During the 24 hour drive home, I will be
working on the video captures to post as pics on all of these shows. First
hotel we decide to stay in along the way, I'll upload. My goal is to have it
all done before we get home. That could be challenged by driving and
hotels with dial up connection. Sorry for delays, yall. I feel like I've lost
the battle here at the end of the tour.
