November 19, Salt Lake City

Fri Nov 21, 2003 2:50 am

It took forever to get from Seattle to Salt Lake...mountain
after mountain - chasing the long road - over snow and asphalt.
One state we passed was Wyoming. Does anybody actually
live in Whyoming other than the Marlboro man?

Bricks - right near the spacious downtown area...

A nice club, since I could climb up this staircase that nobody
else could get on and shoot down. This Salt Lake crowd was
super nice. If you get a lotte at the coffee shop around the
block from the venue, get a triple shot. It was weak, oh it vile.
and it was cheap, it was beautiful, but it didn't mean much to me.

Weston found a nifty cap on the tour.

That guy from Brand New again.

Chauntelle

Casey's hands.

At Denny's, we met Rob - since he flew down because he wanted
to hear the band live again and talk.

This is Rob Shnapf. You'll be hearing about him. Looks like he's
going to produce Eisley's first full length.

a bunch of us at Denny's. The good thing about Denny's is: you
can stay up late...keep ordering bad coffee with good creamer...
you can make a lot of noise and they won't kick you out, they're
always open, you can order that $3.99 grand slam breakfast at
2:00am and...you can breath great second hand smoke.

Rob is low key, layed back, has a great dry sense of humor,
is funny, a family man....produced Elliot Smith (all records) ,
Beck (Odelay) and...many, many more...need i say more?

Daniel making his normal, gooney face.

HEY. Sorry for the long wait. After Seattle, we left the next morning at
7:00am and 16 hours later we were in Salt Lake. You figure it out...16
hours. There's nothing to figure. It's a long haul. We arrived super late -
but the lake only had dead fish so we stayed at some friends house
(Thomas from this very forum) 2 nights. But, backing up, the drive was
very hard...leaving Seattle so early was ok, only we hit 8:00 traffic in
hard rain and fog - creating little visibility, which was nerve racking;
Sharing curvy mountain roads with semi's in bumper to bumper traffic
traveling 65 makes me want to close my eyes. But we made it out....out
of the rain and out of the scary mountain areas...through Oregon, Idaho,
Utah... onward through...i dunno, maybe another state...YES, WYOMING!!
and then South toward Colorado. (but, shhh....I'm getting ahead)

Anyway, we arrived in Salt Lake around midnight...a few of the Brand
New guys called and came over, everyone raided Thomas and Kelly's
fridge (ate raw cookie dough, pop tarts, orange juice, etc), stayed up all
night, etc. What a wild party.

The next morning, they slept till noon I guess. I got up and was hungry
for coffee, so Thomas drove me 20 minutes away to get everyone coffee.
That afternoon, clothes washing and talking and hooking up with friends,
etc....oh, and a bit of computing, since Thomas has wireless.

That eve, we headed ot to the venue, did our load in thing, watched
Weston ride Garret's little tiny mini bikes athat apparently go 60 mph. I
have this on video and will grab some clips later.

The show was amazing, say's I. The fans were amped. (no, I didn't say
that). The mix was great. A great night. images later.

Sorry I've fallen so far behind...I'm trying to get caught up. btw. Thanks Thomas and family again for putting up with us and taking such good care of us while in Salt Lake. bd

Boyd,I (and hopefully everyone else here) wants you to get some rest and stop apologising because quite honestly you have nothing to be sorry for,we are all in your debt for all the things you do for us on here.Your health is more important.

Thanks for todays report.Sounds like you all had a blast,i'm so gonna have to get to the US next year to see some shows. It's weird reading the reviews you do of the shows because although i've never been able to see eisley live Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad I feel I have in some third person kinda way.

I was at the Salt Lake show, and everything sounded great. Plus, I think the crowd was great also.

I took some pictures (which I hope to get more up soon. Technology issues. Boyd isn't the only one having them!) but I didn't get to meet the band! Eisley was the soul reason I showed up! They said they'd be out after their set, so I headed away from the crowd while Hot Rod Circuit was setting up. I saw Chauntelle run right past me and backstage, but that was it.

I wish I had the chance to chat with the band, especially since they seem genuinely amped to meet their fans. That's the only thing that would have made the show better.

If the band does go on a solo tour, I should suggest Kilby Court. 180 capacity, friendly venue and it totally rocks. How can you argue with a venue with a live firepit?

I find it funny that the SLC show was the least popular thread of the tour so far. I hate that I was sick and couldnt go but my wife said it was her favorite of the 4 shows she has seen.

Same thing happened to me. I was upstairs at the balcony for the entire show and by the time I came down, Eisley was gone. I was really hoping for the chance to meet and talk with them. Hopefully next time they pass through Salt Lake. I agree that Eisley shoud play at Kilby, I would love to see them there.

Overall I felt it was a great show. Most of the audience seemed to warm up to Eisley very quickly. I saw Boyd filming from the balcony, and I hope bits of that sneaks onto the website someday Wink. The sound was amazing and the vocals were beautiful.

Thank god they made it to the Salty city safely. Smile

Uhg... Denny's? I was a big fan once but that establishment has gone downhill. Or maybe it's just the ones i go to. Don't know.

yay, Boyd added pictures. Seeing those makes me remember a lot of small details about the show.
And I'm excited to hear more about this full length Rob is going to produce. Very Happy
