Voo Doo Fest 04. New Orleans, LA. 10.17.04 nƒ

Sat Oct 16, 2004 6:42 pm

Sorry it took so long to get this posted... we just got home. I couldn't get
on line this afternoon. If I'd had any witts, I'd have tossed this up at 4:30
am, when I slammed out the last post.

Not to bore you, but picking up from that post, I slept 2hrs and 15
minutes, got up and drove to New Orleans... did that Voo Doo Fest thing,
packed up, drove for maybe a half an hour when I turned to Jonathan
and said, "I can't do it...". I was sunburnt, dehydrated, surviving off a
flurry of sleepless nights; So I pulled over on I-10 for Jonathan to take
over. After an hour of the great Jonathan at the wheel, he tuckered out
too and we came close to staying in a Best Western in Lafayette.

After a brief discussion with the band, we decided to push through. I'd
had a power nap and felt pretty good. So Chauntelle wrote shotgun and
we yacked and talked and talked and yacked for 5 straight hours.

Will talk about the Voo Doo Fest show tomorrow. I have to take
Jonathan home in the morning. Great to be gack.

The Snow Patrol Tour is over.

-----------------

The Voo Doo Fest

The event was pretty ok. Not anything on the organization level of V-Fest
or Coachella, but not so shabby. It was great to stroll through the
beautiful live oaks of Louisiana again... totally my roots. Everything
seemed so familiar. I had forgotten how South LA was.

The VooDoo thing isn't really my thing... the giant, naked bronze girl blow
up on top of the eatery was awkward. All of the dragon-swamp imagery
painted on the stage facades were ok...I guess. We didn't do much - we
were so tired from the tour. We just toasted back stage, drank plenty of
orange juice from the backstage bar, and basically did the show.

It was a bit anti-climactic as part of the tour. We never even saw Snow
Patrol guys again... we made the cross country walk to their bus to grab
our merch from Valerie, hung out in their bus just to say goodbye to the
crew...which was more emotional than you'd think.

Anyway, what about the show?

hmmm...well, I was pleased at the turn out. There were actually cajuns
there that new of Eisley. And fans from Mississippi drove down. (hi
Palmer and friends).

The show wasn't so great, but it was pretty ok. They added 3 songs to
the front of the set: They All Surrounded Me, Sea King, Sun Feet. They
weren't so well rehearsed, and the sound wasn't tweaked yet and I don't
think they could hear so well, but...it was ok since they were great warm
up songs to their real set, which rocked pretty hard. People kept coming
up and staying... Eisley was like a little magnet.

And Chad from New Found Glory came to watch their entire set. He told
them afterwards that it was the tightest set he's seen in a long time...and
that he loved their music, etc. Crazy huh, since they're totally pop punk.
Nice words from a leading band in a different genre. Always good to
make friends no matter where.

I will get pics up asap.

Thanks for all of you who came out. I'll read the posts on each thread
asap. bd

Best tour I've ever seen... (I am a funny funny man.)

No but really. I saw 4 shows, each eclipsing the previous as the best. I'm sad it's over, but glad you can be at home for a while again and be normal.

Congratulations! Very Happy

I've always wondered, why don't any of the band drive sometimes (that I've heard of)? Is it because they don't have the right kind of licence, or because they need to be all rested up for the shows, or what?

Maybe it's a power thing for Boyd. After all, he who drives most drives best.

The tour was a smashing success.

Thanks again for the great shows,
and the great smiles. Smile

Hopefully I will see you guys again in
the spring, or whenever the label deems
proper.

Make sure to keep us posted of the goings
on of the Eisley clan.

Now a tracklising and an album title would be nice
sometime before the album comes out. Secrets are good,
but there are some things that I would like to know. Smile
