UK TRIP - Post 2 (batch o pics)
Wed Aug 20, 2003 3:10 am
Hey. I haven't even scratched the surface of this project. This isn't how
I wanted to treat the photo section...I'd rather imbed the images next to
corresponding text blocks, but... I'm losing the battle here at home; Too
many other obligations for the band here today.
These images aren't necessarily even in order. I do have some images
taken on the plane - on the way. And I don't have captions yet.
Tomorrow I'll try to get more done, but we have to leave for Austin.
It's 4:15 am. I'm dead tired and have to crash now. Thanks.
As you'll note, I fix things on the fly. Why wait until the cake is baked?
The batter tastes good as it is... expecially brownies. I swear I will not
stop posting images until I've combed through the last of the video foot-
age. To newbies, these images are crappy because they're video
"screen-captures". Very lo rez...not meant to be photos. Enjoy.
We're in some train thing that took us from the Airport to London
We rode around in London on the tops of those double decker buses.
Then to scoot around faster, you jump on these tube - the underground
Taking pictures and getting money squared away.
Self - explanatory. MIND THE GAP. (mind it...mind you)
Beautiful ceramic tile adorns the lower levels of London.
After careful study, I think she might only be someone's mom.
Or... she could be CIA. Yep. She's an agent. Look carefully.
It's just like in those movies...you have to hang on or you'll fall. In
Tyler, we don't have these underground. Just oil and rocks and crap.
We try to find tour managers that know the importance of being
professional. We don't tolerate or condone foolish behavior.
We do have escalators in our malls, of course. Weston is a freak.
Our hotel. In all the hotels we've stayed in so far, the small twin beds
are shoved together. So, it's like you're sleeping together, but not.
Good economy of space, but in Texas, we have big ole queen sized
beds with a big ole' isle in between. Right, ya'll?
Blurred Stacy shows off the girls fancy room with a roll away that sags
in the middle. In all fairness, the sag in LA too. I camped on one for
two weeks at the Graphton on Sunset. (see other LA thread)
Jon seems to look cool here without trying too hard. I'm glad he didn't
try hard. He would look like a girl. This is the entrance to Nettwerk.
The inside of the New Nettwerk offices...home of Coldplay and Stereo-
phonics and bunches more.
This is stacy on the train coming from the airport, but it looks like she's
in the Netwerk offices because I made the left color green. So...here's
Stacy in the Nettwerk offices.
We missed Dave by seconds, they said... inside, we got the nickel tour.
There's that graphic close up. After all, it's just a 3d picture of Chris
with a lombodomy... how interesting.
Chauntelle and others walking...ever walking...but where were we
going? Rock and Chris were in a relentless pursuit to show us sights.
I can't remember what they called this area, but it was very cool..
very old..like, I imagine Henry the Eighth was lumbering around these
coble stones back in the day. Or maybe some Boston Tea party dudes.
We live in an English Tudor in a historic district in Tyler, Tx. I think,
however, this English Tudor style building is older than 1930. Like...
hundreds of years earlier. In Texas, the 1950's is anchient history.
We're not really shopping... well, maybe window shopping.
Walking, walking, walking... so Chauntelle can buy a dress and
leave in on a bus and lose her money and Texas ID.
This is some vintage shop where Chauntelle bought the dress. We're
very into vintage shops. In Texas (sorry...) you can find cool vintage T's
for like 2 dollars. In LA, they're $30-50. If you find an old "rock" T-shirt,
it could be $60-100. I bought an orginal Beatles- Abbey Road shirt for
$3.00 at Good Will right down the road in Tyler. Supply and Demand,
right?
I might have been overly fascenated with bus scenes and coffee.
Yeah, I think that's safe to say. sorry.
yeah, It's a coffee/bus runaway. But Jon looks like a handsome, smiling,
coffee-guzzeling, puma dawg.
I freak over this anchient edifice... dang, look....the freakin' building is
so old, chunks are falling off. Chunks only fall off mobile homes in Texas.
(just kidding) Chunks fall when Tornado's hit.
And old signage - especially painted signage; and specifically "type" is
very cool. In this photo journal, we'll bore the English with scenes from
their own backyard, but us Westerners will kackle wildly.
We're getting ready to leave for Austin now. I will take my gear and do some of this in the van. To be continued.
