PHOENIX. February 03, 2005. The Mason Jar

PHOENIX FEBRUARY 4, 2005 The Mason Jar (oh wait, i said that in the title)

Hi everyone.

First, I'm in the van. My computer screen is almost pure white, but I can see the type on the left of the screen well enough to write a bit of copy for you this fine day while driving down the I-8 toward San Diego. Apologies for my dismal attempt to raise the surrender flag on this tour journal. Nothing hurts more right now than to resign to failure on something that that's been such a consistent part of Eisley's history as a touring band. After sending out my fatal e-blast to the dept's I work with at the label, management and a few others, I packed up, we loaded out, and once on the road, I got a call from my good friend Thomas a few minutes ago who might be able to fedx me a small, old, flat-screen monitor... I can use it as an external monitor and...maybe be back in the game.

PHOENIX

Like I mentioned earlier, it was a pretty ok show. I think the band sounded good. It's not a great room. Very indie. very metal. very small. We saw familiar faces and got to hang out a bit after the show...

With Jon and Weston running fever - and the girls not feeling very well either, I'm not so sure the band was able to win over many. Then again, I'm not really sure that Phoenix really gets Eisley. I mean, there was clapping and some cheering, but...it just felt stagnant in the small, metal venue (so we're told) wasn't even full. The promotor said he was happy; there were about 200 + kids there, but.... I wasn't really so encouraged, to be honest.

But, regardless, we'll be back at the Marquee on the NfG tour - so, hey, we'll see what happens. The good thing about the location is - it's a mandatory stop, pretty much. Still none of this brilliant deduction should take away from the fact that there are amazing people we meet every time we come to this area... everyone is so friendly and supportive. Oh, and...Mondo, the Regional WEA rep is amazing. He's probably one of the best in the nation. And, those Zia people were so cool... invited Eisley to do this acoustic showcase, which I vow to put a clip up if jon's video turned out ok; And, they actually came to the show. sweet.

Well, either way, it was great meeting new people and talking with fans we've met from previous shows last night. Thanks for coming. We'll have to see how it goes... I think you guys in the area can count on Eisley coming through by default. I hope that makes you happy. Arizona is beautiful and... we love Arizona Tea drinks.

Hope to get pics up soon. It is true that i'm losing the battle, I won't stop fighting. After leaving my monitor on for hours tonight, I can see just enough to type, and if i don't breath on it, there is no digital conniption. bd

Tucson Fan @ Phoenix Show
Wooooooooo!
Looks like I am the first Phoenix show attendee to post to the thread! I live in Tucson and have loved Eisley since the beginning. I wish I could remember the magazine article but I first read about Eisley about to start their Coldplay tour. From there I thought, hey, these kids are super cute and my age, I wonder what they're all about? Found the website and the rest is history! I had the opportunity to see Eisley at their show @ Plush in Tucson with Snow Patrol. I had never even heard Snow Patrol but I knew I had to go for Eisley. The show was AMAZING and I got to meet the band and get my CDs autographed. If I thought I liked the band before, I super duper LOVED them now. When I heard about the Phoenix show I knew I had to go. Sadly working kept me from attending the Zia in store, but what could I do? I'd travel a lot further than the 2 hour dinky drive to get to Phoenix. I agree that the Phoenix show didn't have the greatest vibe, but I just took heart in knowing that in that show of 200ish people I was LOVING you guys and cheering my little heart out or cheering as much as a shy quiet guy can! As far as the sick thing goes, you guys did look a little tired but it didn't effect the music at all. It was the same quality I have come to expect from you guys. The music was so good, the vocals were amazing (i love that you can't even tell where Sherri stops and Stacy starts!) and as always you guys were so gracious. Every time Chauntelle thanked the crowed for being there I wanted to shout, "are you kidding? don't thank me! THANK YOU for coming!." I wanted to thank you guys for staying so late! I have purchased the Telescope Eyes EP from iTunes, have my autographed CD preordered and on the way from Tower and I am so so so going to the May show in Tucson. Anyways, one mini rant later, if you left the Phoenix show thinking you guys hadn't done well or hadn't been appreciated, you were SO wrong!

The jar sucks.
Oh man. I'd like to apologize on behalf of all of Arizona for making you think that Eisley doesnt have any fans here (if anything know you have at least 5 between my friends and I). I was at the show at I personally thought it was fantastic. Im really glad that this is a mandatory city, I would cry if you stopped coming here. I love Arizona tea too, my friends and I put together that little "get well" package and Im glad we included tea now. Smile

that's kinda disappointing that everyone didn't have as much fun as i did at the mason jar...true, that place was small, dark, and some people acted like they weren't having the time of their lives, but trust me...coming from a guy who got there over an hour early, and ran to put a bar stool up against the rail so i couldn't be moved...YOU GUYS WERE AWESOME!!! it's so cool that you're the type of band that isn't above the people, but is part of the people you know? you're not too cool to talk to your fans. I just loved talking to you after the show, and about had a heart attack when your dad asked me to go to subway with you guys...but i had to wait in line Crying or Very sad well anyways, i just want to tell you guys that there are DEFFINITLEY people in Phoenix who appreciate your music and your awesome personalities....so don't get down...just wake up. the sun i beautiful ---max---

P.S. i got Room Noises from WB yesterday, and it is thoroughly amazing...i love EVERY song

Well, you certainly won me over. I'd never heard you guys before and was just attending the show with my sister, mainly to get out of the house. But, despite being sick and feeling awful that night, I was completely entranced by your music. Now, I'm working on "converting" all my friends Wink

I'm really hoping to see you here in the future. Maybe next time I will not be so terminally shy and come up and introduce myself, just so you feel more appreciated!

Your brand new fan,
Phoenix.

Very metal.

An understatement.

Its not that they dont "get" Eisley, they just dont "get" independent (and i dont mean "indie", i mean unique sounding bands) music in general.
