August 15. "When There's a Smile In Your Heart...

There's no better time to start..."
"It's a very simple plan,
You can do what Birdies can,
At least it's worth a try...
You can Fly! You can Fly! You can Fly!"
---------------------
Don't ask me what inspired the quote from Disney's "Peter Pan" movie. I
used to have the vinyl record. My brother and I listened to it forever and
ever. I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that we flew to New
York today, but it fits and I felt it.

Boyd's Penthouse
I felt pretty silly when the conciere (sp?) told me - in front of band and
crew that they'd upgraded me to "the Penthouse". What the!?!%#? (golly
dog) I'm the TM who stresses over booking hotels over $65 and... I'm
not even comfortable saying the word "Penthouse". Craziness. I don't
even know who's responsible. I suppose I should thank somebody.
Anyway, I'm up here on the 16th floor overlooking... ha ha. I don't even
know; somewhere... I'm not sure where. We're half a block from Times
Square on 45th and Broadway. I have a plasma TV and an open shower
with big giant nozzles. Having wireless so I can write something for you
guys makes life all seem normal. I would have given this room to
somebody who deserved it, but there's just one bed in here.
Travelage
First, we drug our Texas honkus's out of bed at 7:00am, Kimbertones had
us on the road by 8:30am and to American Airlines by 11:00am. After a
taste of airport Starbucks and a short wait, we were on the road... i mean
on the air. In. The flight was uneventful, nice... seemed to go by fast, but
certainly, it was the bumpiest so far: Turbulence. Is that really a good
word? Replace "turbu" with "Ambu", replace the e with an a and you've
spelled disaster. Anyway, I wish the plane had a place to plug in my
power converter so I could have kept my Mac charged and running for 3
hours.
Party Animals
As luck would have it, the Nylon Magazine party was tonight. Of all the
parties we've been to since the beginning of all this, we've never really
been able to feel terribly normal. But we're getting pretty good at acting
fairly normal. And Marvin made us feel very welcome.
Marvin is owner, editor, photographer, creative director of the magazine.
I told you guys already - he was "Ray Gun" in the 90's, so I'm a big fan.
And, I'm pretty sure I've told you - he's directing the video for "Brightly
Wound". Wait, did I tell you that?
Anyway, it wasn't so awkward... he spend a lot of time with the band, had
tons of photo-op type pics taken of the girls, some of he and the girls,
etc. for the magazine; They talked about the video, the schedule, etc.
There were models and photographers and designers and the likes there.
We didn't stay long because we really wanted to go find coffee and hang
out at Times Square - which we did!
Tomorrow there's another hang out meeting with Marvin and we... well,
there's that show. It's getting late. Think I'll look out the window. Nah. too
sleepy. nite.
