New CD Cover - Scores

Hey. mmm...kim's pecan pie. woah-woot! it tans my raw hyde. Dark
molassis...pecans, crisco crust. Rollin', rollin', rollin... (sing theme to "Raw
Hyde") "Ride 'em in... Rawwww...Hyyyyyydddddddde...." Sing that for no
reason. I said so.

Let me make some new week small talk first:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Years Propaganda
I held my breath, yanked a gullet and chortled out a poster for that New
Year's bash... the one on New Years Eve. It's not near so special as I
willed it to be, but I'm not jugglin' on all 4's. I have to put stuff to bed
ya'll. I have to send it down the poop shoot. It'll do in a pinch.

I'm sure some of you saw the thread or the poster, but in case not:

WAIT. I have to connect Pilot to Drift. It's one word. Hold off for a sec'.

No News is Worse Than Some News
News is slow in coming about the tour de diminutive (opposing my
previous reference to the Spring - Tour de Force) but I did find out
that they're grinding out the hard stuff right now... you know, calling the
promoters, venues, fees, routing, strategies. I hope to find something out
soon. I promise. Hey, we're as in the dark as you are.

Room Noises - Cover Art
Cover #2 was submitted today...

TO THE BAND. HAA-HAAA! (no, not the label you silly pooms)
Well, ok... I did send it to them too; and...oK, yes, and to
management too... but, these big ivory tower guys don't matter! ha-
HA!!! (well, maybe just a little). But I'm WAY too important to even
have to ask them. ha-HA! (ok...sure I threw them a bone...sure). And
luckily for THEM, they agree'd with me and THE BAND. I sure showed
them. We sure did. ha-HA!. I flat out said, "here it is, bucko's... like it or
drop us". ha-HA! (hakr...pooN.)

Nope. Here's the truth. I unplugged all the xternal firewire drives and the
wacom from my powerbook, walked into the kitchen where I found Sherri
making mash potatoes and fried eggs (one plate for me), sat the Apple
on the counter and said, "ok... (gulp) here it is...small first, then (click)
bigger and (click) bigger and (zoom) bigger."

The rest is history. (O'what a lame cliche') She loved it and scampered
off toward the stairs bellowing "oh! my gosh, i gotta go get stacy...". The
rest is history. No, but they all lumbered in and took turns peering
followed by a bit of oogling and 0gling. Good response so... end of
story. Just kidding. They hated it. Not. no erasee's. (to which, my
brother eventually added: "nuh-uhhh...you have to say "erasees's NO"
after that or you don't get to be "it"".)

Chauntelle and Weston and Christie and Stacy and whoever else in that
kitchen on that murkey, wet, cloudy, moist, dank morning (O - this morn)
gave a laurel and hearty approval. And Jon. HEY JON... are you out
there? come by tomorrow fer some taituhs n aigz and... an' a swift
viewin', ok? come own... an' i'll gib yuh uh quarter.

So, I was 90% and showed a ruff with a 10% disclaimer and got a 100%
WB. So...Today was a pretty ok day. (thanks) I guess you probably
are curious about the cd graphics. I thought so. Well, today... you're
luck-kee:

We changed the title to "wheel barrel noises" because it's a better
name...plain and simple. Hands down. 9 out of 10 doctors preferred
this new exciting name to the old boring one. And how abou that
"Cooper Black" font? oh yeah... gimmie some 70's brothah. Go
to sleep boid. do us all a favor. cut off 10 lbs of ugly fat. nighty9.

Endless Tweakage and Edits

You know the song... 8 days a week. The Beatles. ok. Just makin' sure.

They keep shoving food in under the door. This corner has become my
prison. I'm waiting on a dv file to compress so I can burn it and get it out
by FedX. I got a call a few hours ago..."boyd, we just found out from
legal that we need to take that cheetos box out of the clip...and the VFest
logo wherever it shows up...sorry". This will make the 3rd time I've
edited stuff out, including the producer. The legal world is so sad. Every
brand shown wouldn't have suffered at Eisley's media blitz; I rather think
they'd have gained market share and exposure. But I know how it works.
You can't take a chance these days.

So I hacked and chomped and grabbed new footage and worked on the
timing of the music to the video; I slow-mo'd and colorized and put it all
back together. It looks great with the box of Anthrax chips now. And, The
V-Fest logo is now a Goat's Head logo... and the producer is now a real
scary clown. I should be fine. Woah, it's DONE. THAT FAST??!. I'll be back.
There's more to tell...more BORE.

So, now it's copying to the CDR. Anyway, I'm repositioning the placement
of the logo and title on the cover. Shelves block lower graphics so you
want to put the identity up top if possible..especially with a new band like
Eisley. Nobody will know what "room noises" is if they see it only. If they
see Eisley, they might go..."oh, wait a minute. I heard about this band..."
dig?

And I'm working on the flash version of the media player now. The new
cover drastically effected the look and feel of what I'd originally designed
in Photoshop. I just couldn't keep working in PS. Flash is a great design
tool - especially since vector files are utilized... things like logos and
small type really snap. Flash allows me to focus on how you guys will
access this since navigation suddenly becomes real. The experience now
encompasses more than the visual.

Returns after 5 minutes
Now the cd is actually burning. I'm not wasting time.

I have a modified list for the NFG tour. It's beginning to take shape. Still,
I can't talk it up. sorry. Forbidden.

Many questions about the cd are being answered. There are still battles
happening behind the scene...not bloody ones. Just opinions on tracks,
remixes and stuff. It's all working out. The radio guys get a sneak
preview soon. I finished setting up a mechanical with multiple inserts for
that project...both front and back art. All of the design goes thru a simple
approval stage and things get done quickly. I think I mentioned...they
wanted one of my "indie photos" and the Eisley logo on the front. No
problems from this camp. It turned out nice. Simple. The back has your
basic legal line, a reprise logo, a unique URL so the radio guys can go see
a sneak preview of videos, the 4 songs titles, name of project...etc. ok
I'm boring you and it's almost done. Time to go.

Week O Bore ...Such Little Time 4 U Crying or Very sad

I won't bore you with behind the scenes juggling that's going on re:
graphics and new media products, but suffice to say, I'm one busy boyd
experiencing all work and no life. 3:30am this morn; back up at 7:30am.
You know what the next worse thing after "burning the candle at both
ends" is? (answer: a burnt, shriveled wick). I only ate a piece of left-over
pecan pie today; shhh. don't tell my fambly. Man 0 live, was it good. And
the cold, cold glass of milk. mmmm...

But it's turning out ALL good. That's all I can say. Very excited about
getting it all done and moving on with life. I think Walmart still has some
of those blue vests... cuz someone said I look ok in blue and I could push
a butt load of those baskets at one time as long as one of you could meet
me there and steer the front.

New Years Eve Show
Party-Party! ('nuf said)

Winter Tour
(not 'nuf said) My guess is - this 2 wk tour will have it's roots in the West,
where Eisley has the biggest market. That means, (if my hunch is at
all correct) it'll head West, do that gig and wrap up in good ole Texas. I
mean, hey...where can you really go in just 2 weeks. It's just a guess,
ok. Don't shoot the guesser.

Spring Tour (nuf more)
Good vibe continuing to grow. Promises tobe super fun... These guys are
really cool... there's much correspondence happening, non stop these days.

Speaking of Spring.... ahh, by then we'll want the warmth of the sun and
change of the season. I'm already too cold even in our own house. It's
been cold here. Like low 40's at night.

I have to get back to work. This is seeming like the long stretch, huh.
Well, ya'll... there's only about 8 weeks left. woah. Am I right? Maybe 9.
Save your nickles. Save space on your ipod. Save some space in your
brain for 12 Eisley tracks.

If I haven't told you guys lately, I really appreciate you. Tons of newbies.
And those golden oldbies. Ya'll are amazing. This is no suck up. It's true.

Woah, they're home from being out all day! Gotta go! I'm starving! bd

Life, Coffee, Starbucks Cheer and Media Players
...but not in that order.

Life is a stressball but coffee gives it warm, intrepid fuel. Starbucks gave
away holiday cheer tonight and I finished a simple, very eisley, media
player. That's it. That's the demo. (inside joke)

At 3:15am, i'm reeling from lack of sleep...and worse, a lack of caffeinoids.
so, in spite of the terrrrific muse on this forum, i will go plop myself right
there. (can you see it?) Right....(points) there. My side of the bed
backs up against this make-shift desk comprised of an old fashion sewing
machine cabinet with the top flap that flops open and creates a self-
supporting extention that bows under the enormous weight of my 5
firewire drives (all different brands/different shapes). But, I can see my
pillow. I'm now going to go right there...it's lit up by the lamp with towels
that I strategically hung over it to block the bright light from that girl on
the other side of the bed. I've seen her somewhere before...

The girls are sewing. Well not now. But, they keep sewing. I hear that
machine all day... what are they doing. Making skirts. And hair. They do
hair. Stacy gave Weston another haircut. It's good. And, we have to go to
LA next week. Maybe that's why the sewing machine keeps making those
noises all day long. And Christmas songs. I like those. But all the
desserts are gone. I ate one meal today. That's better than none.

I didn't post a bloydism today... well, till now. I think that's healthy. But,
as I exclaimed, I finished the flash shell to the new media player, redid
the mechanical for the radio insert and am working on writing the copy
for the eblast that must go out tomorrow. This post - coming to you from
the land of goodnight diaries. 3:42am and all is, well... an adventure into
the deep unknown. That's my pillow talking.

DECEMBER 4, 2004
Night Droning about the day

This is a post just to post. It's after 2am and I'm hanging on by a big,
giant sasafrass root, which is fatter than a thread but smaller than the
biggest cave stalagtite you could ever find laying around. So, that's
pretty tired, but not as tired as you would think...or one would think.

This thread is supposed to be about the record that's a comin'. Of course,
it WAS Sherri's birthday today, so...I might vere off the beaten path.

Conversations about which song or songs the girls will perform next
Tuesday at the big wup label meeting... I wonder who'll be there? Like
hat other artists? Who else will perform?

I worked on an eblast for a bit today... it goes out in the morning some
time. You guys already know most of the stuff... eblasts are for those
who have fallen by the way side or got too busy for the forum. It keeps
them in the loop. Wait, our morning could be LA's noon. It'll go out early
afternoon I suppose.

I just feel asleep with my fingers on the keys. The Last of the Mohicans is
on TV. I really need to crash. I can't remember what to enter in to
today's journal.

We had this big, impromtu, random party for Sherri tonight. It was
special. Random people showed up... we ate amazing finger foods and
had birthday cheescake for her. Some people were making weird dance
moves to Michael Jackson tunes. We raised our Martinez Apple Sparkly in
the air and made a toast to Sherri...to her life, her beauty and...and
people were mumbling all kinds of things.... and....(Kim added) "to the
success of Room Noises!" (loud cheers! woot! hoot! etc.) Again, random...
but it was a fun night. I think she had a great birthday and that's what's
important.

I can't say awake. at all... the end.

SATURDAY DECEMBER 4, 2004
What. What? WHAT!!? ...oh. that.

Hey. What are you doing? Oh... hmmm. ok. It's so glum today. On the
outside. I sorta like it. A few friends have dropped by and we've hung out
some but mostly, I worked. On the cover. Yes its' approved, but it was
rough. I have lots of detail work. I'll finish it for the LA trip and take it w/.

In case there are a few of you that don't venture out into Eisleyblog, I
wish you would. i posted some research gathering polls relating to demo-
graphics - age, sex etc. and a question about Walmart. They're "stickies".
Please go there.

I'm really working on trying to get info about this January or Feb. tour...
as soon as anything breaks, you'll be the first to know. Well, we have to
go. This Violet Burning guy is tonight. bd

Boyd, what kind of wacom tablet do you use? I've been looking at getting one.

At NAPP PhotoshopWorld I played around with the Intuos3 (i think it was that one) and liked it but it's pricey.
