PHOENIX FEBRUARY 4, 2005 The Mason Jar (oh wait, i said that in the title)

Hi everyone.

First, I'm in the van. My computer screen is almost pure white, but I can see the type on the left of the screen well enough to write a bit of copy for you this fine day while driving down the I-8 toward San Diego. Apologies for my dismal attempt to raise the surrender flag on this tour journal. Nothing hurts more right now than to resign to failure on something that that's been such a consistent part of Eisley's history as a touring band. After sending out my fatal e-blast to the dept's I work with at the label, management and a few others, I packed up, we loaded out, and once on the road, I got a call from my good friend Thomas a few minutes ago who might be able to fedx me a small, old, flat-screen monitor... I can use it as an external monitor and...maybe be back in the game.

PHOENIX

Like I mentioned earlier, it was a pretty ok show. I think the band sounded good. It's not a great room. Very indie. very metal. very small. We saw familiar faces and got to hang out a bit after the show...

With Jon and Weston running fever - and the girls not feeling very well either, I'm not so sure the band was able to win over many. Then again, I'm not really sure that Phoenix really gets Eisley. I mean, there was clapping and some cheering, but...it just felt stagnant in the small, metal venue (so we're told) wasn't even full. The promotor said he was happy; there were about 200 + kids there, but.... I wasn't really so encouraged, to be honest.

But, regardless, we'll be back at the Marquee on the NfG tour - so, hey, we'll see what happens. The good thing about the location is - it's a mandatory stop, pretty much. Still none of this brilliant deduction should take away from the fact that there are amazing people we meet every time we come to this area... everyone is so friendly and supportive. Oh, and...Mondo, the Regional WEA rep is amazing. He's probably one of the best in the nation. And, those Zia people were so cool... invited Eisley to do this acoustic showcase, which I vow to put a clip up if jon's video turned out ok; And, they actually came to the show. sweet.

Well, either way, it was great meeting new people and talking with fans we've met from previous shows last night. Thanks for coming. We'll have to see how it goes... I think you guys in the area can count on Eisley coming through by default. I hope that makes you happy. Arizona is beautiful and... we love Arizona Tea drinks.

Hope to get pics up soon. It is true that i'm losing the battle, I won't stop fighting. After leaving my monitor on for hours tonight, I can see just enough to type, and if i don't breath on it, there is no digital conniption. bd

Oh whoa, I was the guy right behind Nick and Suzie with the insane camera and the black sweater. It looks like your pictures turned out really well. I got some nice shots of the Elected but the stage was too dark when Eisley was playing and I was afraid that I was going to blind the band with my flash, so I ended up taking a lot of night vision shots. They didn’t turn out quite as well as I had hoped but I ended up with some unintentionally artistic shots.

As for Phoenix, we don’t exactly have the greatest the indie scene here but if maxamillius and I are any indication, what fans you guys do have here, really appreciate the work that you do. I thought that you put on a really good show and while you could definitely tell that you guys were tired, I didn’t think that it affected your performance. I really appreciated that you played such a long set and hung out after the show. I got a chance to the meet the girls afterwards, and while I wasn’t feeling much better than the band, I really enjoyed getting the chance to meet and take pictures with them. You are definitely one of the nicest bands that I’ve had a chance to meet and hopefully, you will have a much better experience in Tempe than you did in Phoenix.

Good luck with the rest of the tour and see you in May. By the way, what was the deal with Blake opening up the Elected’s set in the bathroom? Was it some sort of commentary on how ~*lovely*~ the venue was or is it something that he’s been doing all tour?

well eisley, i don't know if you knew this, but chanel one, (this national teenage news show my high school watches every day) has this thing called "all request thursday" where they play songs that kids call in and request. Well anyways, two days ago, they played eisley's telescope eyes, and i about had a heart attack....it was reallllllly cool to hear eisley on a national program like that. after they stopped playing your song, my english teacher (who's english) says "max...what's bloody wrong with you? your face is all red." hahaha it was funny.....guess you had to be there. ---max---

The place was a dive anyway. Hopefully, they'll start opening some better small venues outside of Phoenix.

No love lost over losing the Mason Jar.

It looks like I discovered this band a bit too late. It would have been fun to see them while they were here. A great sound.
