San Francisco FEBRUARY 8, 2005 Slims

Though San Fran is a little slow to catch on to Eisley, they doubled their numbers - from the last, small, "West Coast Tour" and that seemed pleasing - to me, at least. Slim's is a very well-run venue; nice folk; accommodating... and they feed you a really sweet, gourmet meal. I'd say the evening rated a solid 8, though I have to objectively say - I think it was a super tight set; mm... definitely the tightest set of the tour. (sorry Austin) The wedges were pumpin' volume so the girls were hearing really well. Everything was working together - Robby (sound) was incredible, the room, the vibe...I feel really good about the video that I captured.

The band did a repeat of the 'lil encore - which went over even better. This time I laughed and cried along with members of The Elected. AND, I have it all on video-tape. AND, oh...I almost forgot. Stacy sings and plays Rhodes on one of Blakes tunes. sweet. The night was very, very fun.

Hoping you guys took photo's, but i learned just before doors that the guard guys (what are they called?) weren't allowing cameras of any type. A fan brought it to my attention and I corrected the problem, but by that time, it was too late. I promise, I told my contact we were GOOD with digital camera's and professional cameras - just no video or audio. sorry.

Man, that drive from Hollywood to San Fran is goofy for us. NO more will I believe mapQuest or yahoo. It took us 8 hrs and that was with NO traffic on the Bay Bridge. (mapquest said 5hr. 40 minutes) If you pull a trailer, you have to drive the double nickel, but half was through the trip, I assumed command and hoofed it - pushing 75mph to hit the 4:00 load in target. We rolled in on time but never again... if we'd hit traffic on that danged bridge, we'd have been screwed. 9 hrs lead time next trip.

We're stove up in a crappy hotel in Oakland and need to get up... 'spose to have b-fast with friends and hit the road. 10 hr. drive today. later. bd

p.s. Special thanks to the 3 dudes who rode 6 hrs on a Greyhound Bus from Nevada to see "their favorite band"... one of them said this: "That was the most important musical experience of my lifetime... that was incredible. If Eisley weren't doing this...there would be a giant hole... everyone would feel it.". And sorry I didn't get to say bye to so many of you. They kicked everyone out and I had to keep loading out.

p.s.s. I woke up in this dark hotel room slumped over my new Apple; one hand was completely numb; the last i remembered, everyone was awake watching TV... i stumbled around looking for a sleeping bag... there was no matress; I unzipped a tiny bag that was 1/2 the length - you know, for little kids; I climbed half-way in, grabbed my coat as a bumpy pillow and was out cold until the first shaft of sunlight sworded my eyes around 8:00am. I got up and added these 2 journals. We're gonna eat b-fast and hit the road.

So how did you all celebrate the album being released? Also, you need to tell us about the whole Launch thing. How you find out you won, recording the song, everything!

The show was amazing. The lil' encore had to be my favorite. I wrote more about it in the eisleyblog and posted a few pics there as well. Here are the rest of the pics.

Never fully trust mapquest... It's like that friend that bites you every once in a while if you don't let it sit on your shoulder...

Anyhow, it sounds like a it was a great show...

I'm ready for the Dallas show...

i can picture you in a sleeping bag that only comes up to your hip, passed out on the floor...it's brilliant...if i could print out mental images, that would stay on my wall forever Very Happy

yeah, it has always taken me at least 9 hours to drive to LA from my house (which is an hour north of San Francisco) and that's without a trailor.

Honestly boyd, next time don't consult mapquest, just ask a local Rolling Eyes

and I'm pretty sure I said this already but I loved the show, ended up getting home at about 2am, crashed for a few hours, got up at 6:30, studied for my physics test and aced it (hopefully... unless I made a bunch of stupid mistakes. I don't know how hard this guy grades).

I hope you guys have it good for the rest of the tour, it was nice seeing you all again. Being warmly greeted didn't hurt either.

Oh, and my friend took some pictures at the show, she's an awesome photographer, so i'll see if she gets any good ones.

I stood in line with those 3 guys from Reno, and i was so impressed that they rode that disgusting Greyhound bus from Reno, and were about to ride it again back to Reno that night, that i gave them the set list that i snagged from Chauntelle's position on stage left. I figured they deserved it for all their effort.

The first band (The Colour) cracked me up. I thought the lead singer was having a siezure on stage, but i guess it's all part of the act.

Hopefully Eisley can come back to SF before they get all famous and high and mighty and start referring to themselves in the third person.

Oh yeah, The Colour's singer is the spitting image of Val Kilmer if you ask me. He completely reminded me of Val Kilmer when he played Jim Morrison of The Doors.

I just thought I'd point that out, because I was somewhat awestruck throughout the entire set because of that.

and The Elected were simply flabbergastingly awesome.

I'd say that the next time Eisley headlines, it would be great to have the elected and richard swift. That'd rock my socks of so hard core you can't even begin to imagine.
