59. Numbers. Houston, TX. 5.19.05

Thu May 19, 2005 5:17 pm

I know for sure that i'm too sleepy to do this. I know that I'm going in. I can vouch for my going in. I'm going in. and out. of consciousness. But it was a show day. So i'm supposed to be super man and keep up. But i think it's just too heavy.... for superman.

3 people with guitars are serenading me with vicarious tunes... mild chatter from the table over there...mac's galore... the eating of bar-b-que'd ribs has brought on a sudden drain of blood to the head. I'm weary.

I shall retire. Talk tomorrow.... a day off. The last show is on Saturday. The Last show of this tour. Amazing. Simply Amazing. The 59th show under our belt. Good night.

About Last Night

I give up. What do you guys think? Objectively, my brother, who's perhaps the best guitar player on the planet and plays "engineer" during the day hours, felt Eisley was amazing; that they kicked some major booty face. But I don't think the crowd totally got it. I know, I know... you're right; I'm being judgemental and jumping to conclusions.

Some of you fans came and I could hear you. But I have little confidence that Reggie and NFG fans were really very totally on board. I might be presumptuous. My brother asked me how productive I really thought this tour was for the band. (that tells you something) I still think it's been a great opportunity... and far more productive than I ever imagined. hmm.. Again... time will tell the story. The next tour will tell the story.

It's the first time we've ever been to "Numbers". Everyone was super nice. That's a deliberate statement and it true. The crew, the stage people, the promoter... everyone. In fact, it's been the same at every venue in Texas. Oh well, that's the South. (don't rub it in, boyd) Thankyou Numbers, though none of you are reading this or ever will.

Cyrus had to cover Billy's part during Reggie's set since his grandpa was very sick and he had to fly back home to Kansas. That was sad. But he managed to get his last bit of trickery in - by soaking Weston's throne with water. (made for a wet seat) I didn't hear their set, but I'm sure it was different without Billy - though Cyrus is so pro. I heard a bit of nfg's set. The crowd was going crazy for them as usual.

Not much to say about the eve. We found Starbucks after Eisley's set but before "signing", as usual. I had to unhook the trailer and get out ("leg hurtn' bad" - Tull lyric) of the packed parking lot. I invited Evan, a nice kid who was hanging around back stage, since he was instrumental in helping us find the address. His sister is a huge fan and I got her a photo pass to shoot for her editor - at AP magazine, who's been so amazing to Eisley. I'm rambling and boring. Watching "Ice Age" with all the little kids at my brother's house out in Richmond.

Working on T-shirt ideas. Have a few. Nothing I'm excited over yet. Will keep working. We leave at 8:00am for New Orleans.... the last show. wow. How bizarre' it will to be home again. Can't wait. Chad coming to hang with us before leaving to go back to LA. There, we'll turn him on to our amazing Starbucks complete with scene kids and friends... my famous coffee, the happy room, the Vineyard, music and movies... and the movie theater, of course. Good times.

Great talking to boardies, the Pilots, and other cool bands that I can't remember the name of but who just got signed to a national. (hi. will listen to the cd) And thanks to Beardo's mom who made us COOKIES!!! And thanks to everyone who shelled out the big bucks to see 7 songs over 30 minutes from the burgeoning, indie-ish - but - signed - to - a- national band. You're like a gold record to them. But wait, what would that be like? How about a pewter record!! I'll set puter at 40k. Nickel at 60k, Bronze at 100k. Silver at 250k; then back on track with the Gold standard at 500k. Record sales - bah humbucker.

-------------------------------------

I'll include the day off here... Friday. 5. 20. 05
Most everybody lazed around here 'cept for me n my peeps... Plenty left fairly early. Various coming in and out - Jamba juice, eating out, movies, and now many are still out...dinner and movies. We all split up. Eisley n Chad hung w/ other dupree cousins in local spaces during the day, getting "qualified" and creating drama. A lazy day. Slip n slide in the front yard, Activity - in and out, last time we stay out here since my brother just sold this 3 acres w/ horse n giant home. To bed. Up at 7:00am to get us to New Orleans by 3:30pm. One last, final, 60th, show. It's already 12:30am, tonight we drive all the way back to Tyler - to arrive by 5-6am.
boyd out.

this was my first eisley concert. i would have gone to the one in january at the meridian if it hadn't been on a sunday (my mom doesn't let me go to concerts on sundays). it was a lovely performance as i had imagined it would & eisley is soo nice! my friend told chauntelle she liked her dimples & jon was looking really smashing with a flower in his hair! sherri's a darling & stacy's adorable. you should be very proud your of daughters & son for what they've accomplished, boyd. i can't even imagine how stacy is only 16 (one year older than i am) & she's already touring & doing what she loves for a living! sadly i didn't meet you, boyd. i was planning on it, too. i searched everwhere, but no boyd... anywhere! nor weston, i saw him for about 2 minutes out by the merch table & then he disappeared. i also saw christie back stage while they were playing, but i never got to talk to her Sad
i took plenty of pictures at the concert if you care to look: http://photobucket.com/albums/y250/pianovines/eisley/

i will see you at the july 5th show (hopefully)! i'm praying that we're not leaving for hawaii that day because i would love to see you guys since you're headlining!

love, pam

Ooh boy, that was a great set. I can't wait till you kids headline again, because it was way too short. I must say that the lighting and sound was a lot better than what I've seen/heard for opening bands before. Anyway, a big thank you to Kyle for helping with my ticket scare. Luckily, it wasn't sold out by the time I got there, so that was really nice. Also, it was great to see Rob, Matt, and the band again and it was very cool that Boyd recognized my dad and me the past show. Again, THANK YOU and see everyone on July 5th (hopefully). Smile

Aww, Boyd was about five feet away from the girls for a lot of the time Eisley was signing autographs. He's beyond nice, so I really hope you get to meet him next time. Oh, and very grood pictures! I didn't bother bringing a camera this time since it blurs way too much and Numbers had terrible lighting the last time I went. Anyway, I think I remember seeing your group and I'm glad you got to meet most of the band.

Houston Numbers show
Laughing You're so welcome for the "made with love" cookies. Thanks especially to Kayla, who I hear enjoyed them the most. Just wanted to tell you, that I chatted with several of the folks in the crowd, who only came to see Eisley!! I have to say I was impressed! I'm looking forward to the Austin Festival.

Thanks to the bandmembers for signing my shirt! You all rocked Numbers, and no I'm not partial.
