Better not late but even better - not never.
It's out of ORDER, but here are SoCalU pics 4 you.

This show was wedged in between the Hollywood House of Blues and the San Diego Soma Sidestage show... High noon for the students there at the University. We arrived at 10:00am to load in, slammed our gear up on the cememt amphitheatre stage, played the 12:00 to 1:00 set w/ rain threatening, the band signed, we broke down in record speed and were out of there by 1:30 headed for our 3oclock load in in San Diego.

I'll admit - Eisley hasn't done a show like this ever - or possibly since their first show w/ John before he joined the band in 2000. I think they felt awkward since nobody came up front. Eveyone was all like - layed back, sittin' on the grass or the steps about 50 feet from the band; which is fine. It's just something they have to adapt to. Plus the PA wasn't very loud and it didn't feel like a rock show. It felt like an exhibition or a showcase. Still many new the lyrics and were singing. I don't know how students felt. The promoter rep (a very cool guy who has been a fan for a long time) for the school told me it was the biggest show/biggest turn out of the entire semester, so I thought that was cool.

The sky really looked like this, but I like the artsier shot above. I'll give you bof and let you decide. Here, you can see the threatening weather.

Since it wasn't like a headlining show where they kick fans out and since there was nowhere to hide, but inside the van, the band just hung out and signed for the 1/2 hr it took us to load out. I talked to students holding the CD who'd never heard of them before but liked the songs enough to buy the cd.

That's so cool Boyd! That would have definitely made my day at college a little funner... Play on the southeast side of Houston once... I think you actually came to my college a long long time ago. So you have done these sort of shows before? who knows..

"Since it wasn't like a headlining show where they kick fans out"

yeah, I was really bummed in 'Vank' -- the show where only 100 of us Eisleyheads showed up -- when the security guards tossed us all out because they wanted to go home and watch the hockey game or something... I wanted to chat with The Famous Boyd in person, seeing as you appeared to have some spare time (probably just a well-crafted illusion, eh?) Ah, c'est la vie; I guess I'll just hafta wait for your next Pacific Northwest circuit.

this was serriously the highlight of my semester. i had never heard of eisley but i heard the sound check and i just had to stay for the whole set. and yeah at school it is always really laid back like that but i have never seen so many people actually stop and listen to the bands playing. and i totally bought that cd and have been listening to it ever since. thanks for stopping by!!!
