Memphis, TN. Beal Street Festival

Well, the "Final Noise" tour is over
So, why can't we just go home? (whaah, whaah)

We're pretty much shot. Mark is now sick again, it appears that Chauntelle mnight have walking pneumonia, Sherri burnt her hand pretty bad on a curling iron this morning, we've had little sleep and we're blowinng down the highway in the cloudy mist. I dunno. sheesh, right?

EXTRACT FROM DALLS JOURNAL:

Well, we're on the road right now - headed for Memphis. It's drizzling and I worry about the weather over there... but here we go. The band wants to drive there and turn around and drive back right after... so does john alderman, who just lost his aunt in a tragic car wreck. There are probably good reasons for pushing ourselves to the limit, but I'd really rather rest a night. We'll see... I had 2 hrs of sleep. Thank God for the Starbucks in that gas stop where the lady waiting on us said, "wait.... you're not Eisley are you?" to which I replied, "well... they are... but how did you know that?" before I realized we're in Dallas where the band is way more known.

Will keep you guys posted. Thnx!

The Memphis Show - Beal Street Music Festival

It was a perfect afternoon... but let me recap:

Back to hotel at 2:00am
Asleep by 2:30 after vending machine snacks
Alarm at 4:30am. shower.
Depart hotel 5:00am.
Gas 3 times.
Arrive 1:00pm
Load in - (across up splintered, layer'd plywood drapsed across mud)
Set up on stage while rganized chaos on stage as Gov. Mule, Galactic, Yellowcard, Blues Traveler were all being backlined. (yellowcard dude watched eisley's set w/ chad on stage)
Rush like crazy, scurrying like wild dogs to set up and get a line check before performance at 2:00.

Ok, that about gets us up to speed. Eisley's set was pretty tight. Mix position was way back where bass frequencies collect, obsuring engineer's reallity; the sound was a bit shrilly and thin up front, but it was tolerably decent and fans who collect - about 300 or more seemed to really know the songs. The ones who didn't seemed to get it. I think we should come back to Memphis. There were fans we saw from the Exit Inn gig here. I talked to Markr and others from the forum. I videotaped, got busted, showed credentials, continued, shot some decent pics, packed up like wile rabid banchee's (what's a banchee?), loaded into the trailer, drove off, said hi to people on the way out, drove, drove, drove, drove, drove...

AND NOW... we're only 60 miles from Tyler!!l
We chunked it... what a day. Craziness. Well.. again, I have pics and have been preparing a large batch dating as far back as Tulsa, where I left off. I'll get them all up super fast.

Thanks Memphis peeps for coming out and supporting such a small band in your market. The Mississippi river is freakin' huge. 1 mile across where we were. well... the South is perdy. very perdy indeed. Ya'll are nice folk. Thanks and see you soon.

This tour is finally over. The end - but stay tuned for pics and movies.
It's been a pleasure. Thanks for making Eisley's tour so magnificent and for giving them such roof raising props; what an encouragement as they head back into the studio. cheers ya'll.

boyd on the last stretch of road.
FINAL NOISE TOUR MILEAGE: 16,275 MI.

p.s. We're now 15 miles from home. Can't wait to make coffee from my own coffee bar, sleep in my own bed with my own wife (well... there haven't been others), watch my own TV, mow my own yard, walk out in the morning and realize I'm in my own neighborhood... etc. the end.

Man, talk about beat up. I hope Chauntelle gets well and Sherri's hand gets meliorated and condolences to John. I hope you and the rest of the lot are well, though I'd suspect everyone's just beat up as heck.

Be well,

Jay

Jeez. I hope you guys get a really good break soon. I think you all need at least one full month of family, sun and Texas before ANY thought of tours or another album (or any work) comes back to mind.

Last night was the most fun I've had at an Eisley show in a while. And that is saying a LOT.

whoof, I really feel for you. I get pretty cranky when I've had only six hours of sleep; I can't imagine only two hours... especially if I had been driving all day, and then I had to drive the next day. Not to mention the fact that you probably hadn't had much sleep on prior nights.

Hope Chauntelle's walking pneumonia gets better... I get that alla time, after colds, and it sucks (although my voice acquires a lovely baritone quality, which is pretty fun). Plenty o' water an' orange juice an' soup.
