Off To Disneyland...
2 Days off in a row. First so far...

Beams of light as we wait for the Winnie and the Pooh ride.

CLICK TO

We have fambly down. Like we're not going to turn them on to the Wonderful World of Disney. I know, I know... to you West Coasterners, it's like... Astroworld to Houstonians (us). But we're going to live it up in style, like it's our first and last (we all know it won't be... we're sorta fanatics). It was cool of Richard to be cool with everyone taking off the 2 days. They're on the downside of this mountain of recording... in fact, I'd say, they're sliding down the slippery slope toward completion. I'm pretty sure, in 2 weeks, we'll be back home in good ole East Texas. Meanwhile, I made the decision to take my camera today. Maybe I'll have a few pics to toss up on this post.

---------------------------------------------------

I took over 565 photos!
It's going to take some doing just to trash the blurry and crappy ones. I'll do my best to get something up tonight... cuz, tomorrow, I have to get back to work. We've been having one non-stop party since Kim arrived.

What a day. We stayed until it closed... saw the parade, the whole thing... walked out shoulder to shoulder with thousands to that long car thing that picks you up... it took half an hr just to get on that. But it was a blast. Pics asap. Thanks. boyd

-----------------------------

Been workin' on those since my last post. It's 1:11am. The Santa Anna winds are howling low again... Chauntelle and I just heard a loud hoot owl. There's tons of wildlife here... Racoons the size of bears, gopher looking things, bunny rabbits everywhere... other stuff. I'm falling over. The sun baked me... dried my eyes out. More tomorrow if possible... boyd

I Added a Few This Morning
But forgot to hit "submit". I'm at a Sherman Williams store in Semi Valley with the girls - sans Stacy, who is a keyboard slave to this record. Cheers ya'll! bd

Apple Store - Semi Valley Mall
Girls are shopping feinds. (fiends? sp?) Even if they don't have money, they still shop. They just "look"... but it's just like shopping. That's why married guys (and boyfriends) don't really have to shop... the women are going to buy it for you anyway... with your money. What's the point? But where would we be without them? We might be like... cavemen or something. Ogilvy (the late, great ad man) said something like, "your wife isn't stupid... She's the consumer". In other words, they make most of the purchases... smart marketers appeal to them. Girls are the best thing ever. And I mean that. Without girls, we wouldn't have malls, or shopping centers or movie cinema's... I think we would have Apple Stores, but they'd be in office complex's. Thanks to women, I can get out of the cave, go to a luxurious outdoor shopping center, get coffee, read a book... and get on line at an Apple store. Yea, girls.

I'm reading a book on designing DVD menu's. It's a beautiful day. California sure has the edge on us - weather-wise. Back to my book.

Astroworld looks like an ex-battlefield now. Indeed, it was a battlefield. The hearts of Houston and the coldness of the corporate fought the utmost of battles on that sacred ground. Alas, our heart could not overthrow the evil of money. Now we can overlook condos, rather than the Serial Thriller.

to be fair to six flags, if they didn't sell astroworld when they did the entire company risked collapse, and that would mean that not only astroworld, but every six flags park, would risk being turned into condominiums. while it is sad that astroworld closed, most of the rides there have either been moved, or are identical to numerous other rides throughout the world. for instance, there are 27 rollercoasters either identical, or nearly identical, to serial thriller in the world, and serial thriller itself is currently in storage at another six flags park.

actually, the rides most sadly missed by coaster enthusiasts are those designed by anton schwarzkopf (greezed lightnin', viper, and, while it was still there, texas tornado.) he was the creator of the modern vertical loop, and the "launched" rollercoaster, and was generally considered to be one of the greatest and most important manufactuers of rollercoasters in history. at a time when most of his rides were getting torn down, astroworld had three, more than anyone else, and that was a big part of the appeal of astroworld for us (besides the fact that some people will go anywhere where they have any kind of rollercoaster... you'd be horrified by the number of pictures there are of middle-aged men riding kiddie coasters at celebration station on the internet!)

oh well.

i hope everyone had (is having?) fun at disneyland! i wonder how it compares to disney world down here in florida? hmm... big thunder mountain railroad, splash mountain, the haunted mansion, and snow white's scary adventures, are my favorite rides over here! yeah, i said snow white! awesome ride...

yeah good ol' astroworld. wish they would have taken away waterworld or whatever the crap you call that place. all i know is that the lazy river is akin to the ganges except not holy in any form or fashion.

I think you're refering to Splash Town (?)... and, didn't they sell it?
Also, it was alot better than "Water World"

With Disneyland only being 2 hours away from me, it's kind of sad that I haven't gone there recently - memories from the last time I went are vague. But, I remember enjoying it very much and I hope you all do too. I should really go soon, though, and take advantage of this perk you referred to as 'being a West Coasterner'. : )

You know I never actually went to Astroworld although I drove by it several times. I do live about 15 minutes from Splashtown... and I can't stand to go there anymore. The first 5 times were great, but the 23rd time was just rediculous!

to do not be afraid,

disney world vs. disneyland...no comparison. Disney World being 4 (?) parks and land just being one (not counting california adventure)...come on...I went to Disneyland this past New Years and it was a let down. Sure I had fun and it was good times, but given a choice....disney world is one million times better, but I guess in a few years we'll all have to go to Disneyland, seeing how Orlando will be underwater.

anways,

Have fun Eisleycamp. I hope you took a big stick to beat off crazed fans.

oliez, i meant "the magic kingdom" park alone. i'm not too enthusiastic about the other parks. i do enjoy them, especially on slow days, where you can take your time, and really enjoy just being at the park, but the magic kingdom is the only one i really love, and the only one worth the busy season hassle (unless, of course, you have to wait in the "bag" line! nothing is worth that...)

Slightly off topic from Disneyland but related to Astroorld...Here in Bakersfield, there's a nasty rumor going around that Magic Mountain might be shut down and sold for real estate development, which would ruin my life... Mad Mad Mad Crying or Very sad

Glad everything's going well with the album, and that you guys had fun at Disneyland.
