Novermber 29, New York City. Sin-e'

Sat Nov 29, 2003 4:38 am

Hey. I added the real post below this first copy block.

--------------------------
Hey New Yorkers. I'm posting this early - yes, before the show, because,
as I've mentioned, after this show, we're turning on our "TEX-ometer"
and pointing the auto-van towards the great country of Texas after the
show. Since we'll be on the road for like 24 hours straight, I knew I
wouldn't have the chance to get anything up on the forum for a long time.

Hope the show went well and everyone felt the 8 bucks was well worth it.
I will post my usual blathering as soon as I find a Web Depot or a Line-UP
facility. (hotel)

We're in our hotel now...some are still asleep. We check out at 1:00, eat,
hang out in NY, get our van out of it's $75.00 parking spot (sheesh), and
head over to the venue early...(load in supposed to be at 4:00) Doors
open at 7:30, Eisley's weird opening slot as headliner starts at 8:00.
cheers. bd

---------------------------- actual words appear below:

Hi folksy-wolksies. Oh, I must be tired to say something so gay. Welp,
we're driving...driving...driving... ever driving. But first I'll post a shpiel of
spew about Sin-e' and the show that was rendered there last night on the
lower East side of Manhattan - right around the base of the Brooklyn
bridge somewhere. (correct me if I'm wrong)

O.K Uh, well...at first we thought nobody was going to show up. Like, 2
fans were outside the venue at 7:15 in the freezing cold so we told them
to come eat with us. One of them was Sean Ferry, who'd interviewed the
band back in Phillie. He's awesome and it was cool to see him again (he's
the guy who interviewed Travis right before he did Eisley); Also, Heather,
who came, heard about the band from the Seventeen magazine interview
last summer and tracked them down. She drove 3 hours from
somewhere in Long Island to see the band at the Legendary home club of
Jeff Buckley. Anyway, after we got back, there was still no line...and
were sad. But after the band's sound check, I walked outside and...well,
there was a long line. I never heard the count, but the room was
extremely packed.

We were so amazed...Hot Rod guys, Brand New guys, crew guys, Marty
Diamond, Phil who directed their video and his editor and many from
their crew, a nice lady from Warner Brother who's soul job is to get WB
bands into live performances on any broadcast (TV, movies, etc. oh, her
husband owns Triple Crown), Dan who manages Brand New for Nettwerk
was there, and tons more; I don't know where the rest of them came
from, but they came suddenly. And after a swarming deluge at the merch
booth, they were gone...except for some club frequenters or friends of
the bands playing after Eisley; there was a independent writer, Jesse and
his entire family, and the other bands who played and talked to us. We
got to hear a cool band called "National Eye". Nice sound. I bought a T
shirt... i think others bought merch too.

Anyway, Marty was happy, so, we were happy. Oh, and, unofficially...
(stress..off the record) Eisley will do a little Texas tour leading up to New
Years. Like, Houston, Austin, Dallas. All I can tell you is - I think the
Dallas show will be a New Years eve bash. Should be fun, right? More on
that later. This, I suppose is under the radar. I mean, the tour is over
and I'm wasting your time.

While we're on the subject, you guys know that Rob Shnapf (the late
Elliot Smith's producer) is named to do the full length. (see eisleyblog -
titled something like: Eisely has found a producer). As sad as it is, it
seems that Rob's schedule was suddenly cleared out. You have to read
the blog to get the full story. Anyway, looks like Eisley starts pre
production middle of December in LA. and begins recording in January -
whenever it's done; I imagine several months.

Anyway, after the show, we hung out, said goodbyes, cried tears, had 2
minute hugs with everyone, pulled away into the chaos of New York
while screaming about Texas at the top of our lungs, found the Holland
Tunnel and had passed through New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, W.
Virginia, Virginia in 5 hours. We're still stumped on Tennnessee. Dang this
state is half as long as Texas! We're still 97 miles from Memphis. Daniel
and I drove through the night...but he's the road warrior. He drove 8
hours, I drove like 3... and now he's back at the wheel for most of the
day while I work. But I did stay awake almost all night with him -
changing the cd's right on time. So, we're both zombies; we're starting to
look green around the gills; that neon glow is with us... meanwhile this
band we're all interested in is fast asleep back there. What a life. (JUST
kidding)

We should pull in to Tyler around 11:00pm to greet our homies. Everyone
is so excited. I'm out for now. This is the official end of the tour, including
the road trip. Thanks everybody for tuning in. Again, sorry I didn't stay
on top of the pics. Now I have to finish them at home, like I dreaded. The
end. Love, Boyd
--------------------

We pulled in at 11:19, but that's only because Arkansas had their typical
road construction that stopped traffic for an hour. wow. We left new York
on the 29th and got home exactly one day later on the 30th. I don't
recommend that by the way...but, it's great to be home. Christmas lights
and decorum. Awesome. We had a big welcoming party...and the hugs
were non-stop for what seemed like over

It's kinda sad the tour is over dont you think?

It was fun being a groupy for the Portland and Seattle shows! Hope to see Eisley in the Northwest soon! I think they should tour with Brand New everytime! That would be awsome! Almost like a mini Warped Tour in a weird kinda way.

The National Eye
The National Eye was superb. We awl did dig the National Eye. That's why many of us bought T shirts and CD's. Great show guys. Like we said, come to Texas! If you have a website, post it...if you have songs up.

Thanks.

Luke is one lucky duck. Or if you prefer, one lucky dawg (if you are into that whole urban slang thang), or one lucky cat (if you are into that whole urban slang thang 20 years ago) Smile. Have fun Luke!!

Happy Birthday Sherri!!
I don't know where or how or if this will work in the least, but I just wanted to wish Sherri a really happy and I suppose belated birthday! It was so nice to meet you and chat a little bit at the Phoenix show (you too Stacey), and I wish there was more time.

You said you like to read about Kings, Castles, Dragons, and Dwarves. I wish I knew what books you had so I could send you a new one Smile. Maybe I'll send you mine when I finish it in 20 or 30 years...ha ha. I'm sure Eisley will still be rocking and the forum will still be here...and we will be 40 or 50!!!! I hope your tastes die slow Smile.

Take care and God bless!

Sincerely,

Theogenes

i haven't caught up with many of these posts due to finals and the holidays (including my birthday...i hope sherri had as good of one as i did).

the bridge in new york is the williamsburg bridge...i know this because i got lost near it this exact weekend last year when i was visiting a friend. i am usually really, really good with directions, but don't underestimate southern manhattan. i assumed east broadway would merge back into west broadway, and i would easily make my walk from chinatown to the NYU dorms without any problems. however, it diverges from it as you head north, and i walked right to the east river...i looked up, and the HUGE williamsburg bridge loomed overhead. i'm fairly independent, but i had just turned 18, and i was by myself in a part of manhattan i didn't know very late on a cold, rainy, windy night. luckily i found houston street (where cbgb's and the hardcore punk kids are) after venturing under the bridge and made my way back, but not after being scared out of my mind for a good half hour.

i'm glad to see that the tour did work out well in the end....i knew talking to boyd in philly that somehow it would work out well....if nothing else, you guys did make some new fans, and hopefully some new friends as well. hope the holidays go well for you all, and i *promise* i will have a review of marvelous things up on Livewire soon...i'm not cut out to be a journalist, nor do i plan on being one any more than this in the future. thanks for being a part of my favorite concert(s) of the fall, and for being a part of my itunes playlist and permanent fixture in my car cd player.
