THE DALLAS SHOW

Thu Jan 01, 2004 9:16 am

Old friends talk Chauntelle into singing background vox's.

Hearing notes inside her head...

...because they're not loud enough in the monitor.

Eisley counts down backwards starting at 10...going towards 0.

The band lines up in the starting position...and waits for Captain Goggly to wave his wooden leg -
(indicating that the ramparts are in place and are starting to wiggle...being perched on the end of a quivering doylee)

Normal copy goes here. Sherri, shown singing an Eisley song.

Here, Chauntelle executes rabid precision on a ripping, van halenesque
(electric) guitar solo. Using electricity makes her playing "electrifying".

Here it is up close and personal.

This might be my all-time fav. I don't know why. She has a button mic for
a nose but her face looks sorta monte'-boovial.

It's no laughing matter. When one see's something so frightening, one
considers his mortality. She considered that she didn't have an anti-anti,
ray gun-gun to combat the cadmium bbzzt.

Every day Jon talks about wanting to buy a new zip on head...the kind
he's seen on TV ads. That's all he ever talks about.

Stacy seems to be at some concert or either looking down.

zzzzzzz....

I count 1,2...3 drumsticks? Wait...did he toss a broken one and grab a
new one that fast?

She uses Gleem, Golgate and Grest squirted together in one big gooey
rope before brushing.

Someone once made up the phrase: "I wonder if maybe Stacy's band
should have been called Bright Eyes and Conner's band - "ConnerEisley"
"Ole Conner and the rabid spelunkers"

Weston Jagger.

Chauntelle's Larravee - soloing "Laughing City" (the song)

Some literary scholars prefer "introducing" but it's the subject
of much debate at the large universities. I'm not about to change
it... I simply don't have the time. Smile

Zoom, zoom, zoom.

When the other band members are more in the dark, I just have a spend
more time on a member that's in the light.

It sounded like a marching band coming down the street...but there were
cops and pepper spray all mixed up in there. Once it wafted down our way, we split - coughing and squinting.

Josiah Holland enjoying the festive riot. And I thought Jesse Lacey was going to run right into the middle of it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
(i hate exclaimation points)

Those of you you who were there can report your heartfelt feelings about
the night/morning. I think it's safe to say we all had a great time and...
eisley's show was the best. Wink (JUST kidding, I mean serious...) All
the bands were great.

I just remembered that they didn't play Queen of Leaves; That's because
nobody yelled out, "Queen of Leaves". So, maybe they only played 17
songs, not 18, like I assumed. But that encore was sweet.

My favorite song of the night? First, "Lost at Sea" because... I can't get
enough of it's simple, beauty. But I thought they pulled off "Over the
Mountains" in rare form..."Laughing City"... "Golly Sandra"... "Sun Feet"...
"Memories"... the best. You guys know I'm hard on shows; the sound,
performances, etc. I swooned throughout the entire set.

sidenote: I do think touring the US is more important than playing so
many Dallas shows. I know you guys love it when they come, but...
"saturation". Gotta get out more. Oh, I did hear that Eisley ranked 25 in
the top 100 most requested songs on The Edge. (Telescope Eyes) That's
pretty amazing considering the magnitude of the station and being in a
major market in the US.

I will have some nice pics from last night's show. The Austin show had
little lighting...especially on Chauntelle. She was in the dark on the first
two shows. Hopefully someone else covered the shows as well.

It's great to be back home snug around our little 30's, art deco furnace,
Christmas lights and our little extended family. We faced the 2 hour drive
courageously after our wreck the night before...and such little sleep. We
had to stop in Van to drop off the Ellis boys before arriving home around
4:30am.

The band has a few weeks to finish up song writing for the full length.
(literally, finish songs that will probably be on the new record) Hopefully
they can chill for a few days and not work or do anything.

Happy New Years everybody. Thanks so much....as always, for coming to
see the band live. I know many of you drove a long way; like the two
guys who drove from Oklahoma. I know there were more of you. Great
to meet new people as well. Well, I'd better go for now. Can't wait to
upload some images. Have a great day.

Boyd

It was a great show. I just got back home from Dallas about an hour ago... and it was worth the almost 5 hour drive.

Although I loved the show, I do have mixed feelings about the night. I wish the crowd had been a little more respectful... by not blowing the horns and stuff through the songs (I know it was New Year's Eve... but there's time for that between songs... right?). Also, I had to be there all by myself because... suprisingly enough... it's difficult to convince people to drive from Houston to Dallas to see a concert on New Year's Eve. Aside from that, I think it was the best Eisley show I've seen.

I was happy to meet the Eisley folks again, and once again they were super sweet. They kindly signed a copy of Marvelous Things for me... which I later gave to my friend (who couldn't be there). She loved it. So thanks again.

dang, yo! if i knew you were there alone i would have told you to look for me!! i was alone too! and please don't tell me you were the guy next to the tree-pole who, after standing next to each other for many minutes, asked me "are you here to see eisley?" cause if that was you, i would feel bad! us gulf coasters gotta stick together! ha!

anyhow, the show was ubertastic!!!! i, too, wanted to shout out "winter song" but i didn't want to be that obnoxious person that yells out requests. know what i mean? i think this show was tons better than the gypsy tea room show. (not that that show wasn't good too!) but something about the feeling last night was just...on, you know?

i was soooo excited to hear "sea king"!!! eeeeeeep! and "golly sandra"! and the new song about the stars falling and loving you that i don't recall the title of!!! so. amazing!!

saturation smaturation. come back soon, eisley!!!

YEAH... that was me! I thought I scared you away because you quickly took off after I asked. I didn't want to say anything earlier and appear creepy. Ultimately, however, your running off only comfirmed my fears.

Actually, I just assumed you wanted to move a little closer. Although I have scared small children before.

Eisley just needs to have like "Monday night at Tree's", every monday night....they could play some songs, and work on new ones....you know...like a big practice session, but the public could come and listen....but not interrupt them.....

Yeah... I didn't want to sound geeky either. I'm not exactly sure why... since apparently I am (I have almost 500 posts... ugh). Well, it was nice to meet you for all of a minute. Sorry I didn't say hi sooner. I debated for a long while whether or not I should say anything... since you seemed to be alone. I'm a dork.

I TOO WANTED THE WINTER SONG!
I asked them to do it in Austin, but they told me that they had not rehearsed it lately Crying or Very sad
The highlight of these 3 Texas Shows, (after getting to see EISLEY), was to have the Ellis brother's on tour with us.
I really hope that we get to have them more often.

Thank you, Daniel(son), Matt, and Philip. You guys are the greatest, bestest, most wonderful take charge guys in the world.

We all love you guys!

Also,
Thanks to Cassie, Jessie, and Parrish for your help with merch!

I should've just edited my other post, but i've decided to make another one!

A huge thanks to Boyd for the props. For those confused, I was one of the two guys from Oklahoma. We had planned on camping out to buy tickets because we really wanted to see Eisley before they went into the studio. We had ridden up with our friends who were playing a gig across the street, Ice Walters. As soon as we walked over to Trees to sit and wait for tickets to go on sale, we saw Mrs. DuPree. We talked to her and then the girls came out. We talked to them until they had to go in for their sound check. Then about an hour and a half later, Mrs. DuPree asked us for our names. We gave them to her and she said not to worry about having to buy tickets because we were now on the guest list. WoW! In all honesty, the DuPree family is one of the most together, kind-hearted families I have ever had the privilege to know.

Thanks again Boyd! You rock!
