Rosewood Sessions '08

More crappy Blackberry Pics; Apologies. But here is Eisley with Gary Leach - one of two proprieter/
veterans at RoseWood Studios here in Tyler, TX.
Early On
We're at the very beginning. Actually - no. Since there are 20 songs (20 +1
now since Sherri wrote a super-duper one today that she thought wasn't
really a very Eisley song until we yelled at her real bad because it certainly
was), so I guess this isn't the very beginning. This is pre-production for
two songs. But tracking starts almost simultaneously because this new
union encourages creativity at every level. So... why only two songs?
Lookie here. Hold on. "hey, could somebody get me some brain waves
in here!? jeeze. ok I'm better. I swigged on my quad coffee thingy. I made
that thingy so don't go calling it a thingy. I make very manly coffee. It puts
hair on our chests. Now where was I. oh - Lookie here... nobody knows
what we're doing; it's a secret. WB doesn't know, you don't know, Eisley's
fans in Malaysia don't know (hey did ya'll know we're getting more hits
from Malaysia than other countries Eisley has toured - like Canada, England
and Australia? yep)... Anyway, no one can know what we're doing so forget
trying to figure it out.
Here's what we're doing:
We're going to record 2 full songs. I've been saying demo but shut up. Yah,
maybe if demo means demonstrative. Lookie here: Rosewood and
Eisley are making a real boy. Not a wooden one. And no one knows it.
Nobody can know it. Ever. It's a secret. Why? - Because why make a fake
song if you can make a really real one. That's a question but I hate
question marks. I really do. The other songs will get recorded whenever
the real record is in full swing. We have to iron that out. I mentioned that.
Foundational components must be fortified in cement.
So - the trick is... to figure out which songs to record. Which ones do you
think they should record. mmm.... ok, I'll just post them all and you guys
can pick which 2. ha ha. Just kidding. I'd have to cut off your heads.
HEY - next post, I'm gonna post a post about the November gig. It's
in
Seattle. I already hinted... but next post, I'll post an entire post. It's a
really big deal. wow. Eisley is excited over this one. Proceeds go to help
little sick children's families. Rocking. News soon. Once ya'lll post 40
comments, I'll talk about this gig.
RAIN
Gal dern ya'll - we're living in a rain forest down here in Texas! By this time
of the year, my grass is usually partched and dead - even if I water every
day... which I surely do because I love yard work. If I didn't have so many
other less important things to do, I'd just be a full time yard man for boyd
dupree... only, he can't pay me, so forget that; jerk. He makes me mow,
weed-eat, and power blow EVERY week... and pays me nothing.
Anyway, like i'ze sayin' - it's like a gal dern rain forest down here in Texiz.
I love it; all grey and damp and dreary and melancholy and sad and
depressing... just like merry ole England; almost makes me wish I was lost
in London again... because I could discover that coffee shop again...and
think, "wow... i was SO lost but look - I discovered this amazing coffee
shop".
But I'm not there. And it doesn't matter. I'm here... Sitting in this chair at
my desk in our bedroom; some old movie is on, people are back from
Taekwondo, those bags of old eisley T-shirts are still stuffed beside my
bed, the kitchen is messy after Chauntelle made that chocolate chip cake
(yum), Kim is hanging out with her best friend Pam in the front room, life
feels a little glum and I need to get back to work so we can afford our 2
gallons of milk per day. Why do cows have to squirt out such expensive
white goo out of them!? $5.00 per gallon? Jeeze... It's farm-road robery.
Anyway, I'll post a few pics and say goodbye.
Sherri does what she does.
Austin Deptula - who mixed most of "Combinations".
Day dreaming is encouraged when others are listening to your songs.
Weston sets his goon helmet to "eernk".
Sometimes we lately go to Caffe Taza... a private owned coffee shop who also make
amazing panini's and have free Wi-Fi.
Last Week, Sherri and I were in Dallas. Wishful thinking that they'd build one of these in
Tyler. Also free Wi-Fi.
Jessie and other tight friends serve us up delicious beverages at the Starbucks
quite frequently.
If you put an onion in the refridgerator and forget about it, this is what happens.
I digress. We like old things.
Local Tyler anchorman. I was testing my camera and - there he was - all young, handsome, confident and ambitious.
I go here when I need new to get a fresh head on my shoulders. Helps me get
perspective. Sometimes I cheat and use it to lose weight.
Also. I have to say that I adore Sherri's images. I freak out over them and
just adore them. Then again, you could say, "you would". But I wouldn't if
they weren't so so swanky-damn good. Hey, a blog magazine is about to go
to print and he's featuring Sherri's photographs in his publication complete
with a questionaire interview. She talks about song-writing and the new LP.
I'll talk about that when the time is right too.
Goodbye. bd
