Eis-Wood Sessions #2 (+1 edit)

Recording new Eisley songs.

The New Song
Anyway - I just wanted to give you guys some details... sorta paint a sonic picture in your mind so you'll know what to expect on the new album: First of all, they only have one song recorded so far and it's not even done. What can I say about this song... Yeah, well... it's new, it has all those chords and things. Like, I heard things like verses and there was a bridge.

And there are chords. Oh - and the chorus on Stacy's new song is totally tracked (recorded) and what's more, it sounds like guitar parts were added. Stacy tracked her vocals and when she sang, wow... you can't imagine the sound that came out of her head in the form of all those pretty notes.

Also - like... Chauntelle's guitars provide polyphonic (a texture consisting of two or more independent melodic voices, as opposed to music with just one voice (monophony) or music with one dominant melodic voice accompanied by chords (homophony) contribution and wow... I heard it using my own You guys wouldn't believe. If you heard the drum parts, you'd think, "woah, he really beat on those skins" because Weston really did hit those suckers for the recording. More - Garron recorded bass parts... different notes all over this crazy first song. He practically played bass on the entire song.

What, are you kidding? I learned long ago not to reveal specifics about new Eisley songs... so I hope you don't believe me when I tell you it's the best material yet.

Stacy records one of billions of new songs.

I made her white because I once heard it said
that she was like an angel.

Garron paints a mean bass baby blue.

Weston was rotated by a camera.

Baby you can drive my car... err, van. Her van.

Garron gave me the Garron look.

Brudders at Starbucks.

Weston was in a hurricane shown here.

You don't even know.

Walking back to van. There were 11 of us.

someone had jury duty and was bored.

Clarity
I'm partially kidding about the generi-hype wordage. And I'm partially orry for coming off sarcastic. You guys know me well enough to know that if it were possible, I'd host a listening party. Typical - I'm caught in this awkward place... wanting to share what I cannot so I get on line and jump around waving my arms around with a gag over my mouth. I am excited about the new stuff. Trying to balance out emotions, words and my coffee intake.

Working through final things. I hate that things take so long. Trying to figure out if we can record a record and squeeze in some kind of tour... might not be possible. To early to know.

Gustav
Even though we're in the last concentric blob on the graphic tracker, my guess is - we'll get a few gusts of 30mph wind gusts and a lot of rain to keep our very green August even greener. I am worried about our Southern friends (figurative) along the coast of Louisiana (my home turf; went thru' Hilda, Betsy & Carla as a kid). Looks like most of them have left... which is good. Guess we'll see what happens. Hoping that storm downgrades. cya. bd

Memory Lane - Devastating 60's Hurricanes

Carla. 1961. Category 5. I was 4. Remember it well. Born in New Orleans and lived in
Lafayette from 1960 - 1970. We were pummeled 3 times.

Hilda. 1964. I was 7. We got off school early, tied down 72 pine trees, taped up windows,
boarded up some, weathered the howling, yowling 100 + sustained winds as our mammoth
hollly tree crashed across the road instead of our home. Neighbors weren't so lucky. My dad
ran outside in 100 mph winds to catch our trashcan lid because he was afraid it would fly
through a neighbors window. He marveled over how easy it was to lean into the wind and be
airborn. My mom screamed bloody murder. Scary, fun. Cat. 4

Betsy tracker. 1965. Similar experience. In those days, we didn't evacuate. I remember
our beds were moved into the center of the room in case glass shattered from the high
winds. Cat. 4. Cost over 1 billion even in '65. Look familiar?

Betsy lines down. Layfayette was hit hard.

Betsy flooding.

Yeah I second the take care with Gustav. I heard on the news up here that the Red Cross from this area (in PA) sent some people to Tyler, Tx in preparation.

On the other topics, good stuff about the songs. I hope we get to hear them in the semi near future!

Hope u know - Eisley is not a flavor of the day band. This isn't about trying to make it. It's about creating, giving, receiving... music.

Thanks for the post- I'm sure its gonna be great! Are they actually recording for the album in Tyler, or are these demos they are recording?

I wasn't around for Carla, but my grandmother told me all about it while I was down there riding out Alan with her. Cousin just evaced from Waveland MS today- she and her husband had just finished rebuilding their house from the foundation up after Katrina. If it happens again, they say their not going back. All the best to those affected.

I am actually curious to know if Stacy lays down a track for keyboards and voice at the same time. Seems like that would be a lot harder to edit if necessary, although maybe not if y'all already have something like the new Melodyne with "Direct Note Access" (which looks really cool). http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=dna

I "hear" we, (Dallas suburbs), are supposed to get some nasty weather sometime around Wednesday/Thursday(?) and will quickly clear by Friday, so I assume Tyler will get a nice shower or two Smile Let's hope your stompin' grounds don't get washed away. Louisiana sure has some wicked bad luck lately :/
