Kim (edit +3)

Quick post -
Rushed Kim (band mom to 4/5's) to ER at midnight Sunday when continued chest pains, arms were accompanied by off the charts high blood pressure/blood sugar levels where she was admitted, tested (ekg, xray, blood), medicated (blood thinner shot into the stomach, blood pressure meds, morphine for pain, etc), moved to a private room, monitored until the doctor came in tonight with helpful but depressing diagnosis - CLICK TO considering she's been working so hard on her health during last 4 years since we at this exact same place - facing exact same problems during Room Noises pre-production. Worse, we have no insurance and... this is so much more than a major setback. Almost feel like giving up. Heart issues have less evasive, superior remedies than in times past... it's just all coming at a bad time - during stressful times - a few weeks before Sherri's wedding. Everyone is struggling, sad, spending endless hrs at the hospital. I haven't slept since Sunday morning; Kim sent me home to get rest since tomorrow they do whatever they're going to do. Just wanted to let you guys know. It will all work out. Like everyone, we've been through tons of valleys; just didn't see this one coming. Many people are obviously hurting, stressing and suffering these days. Hope all you and your loved ones are in good health. Covet your thoughts and prayers. Hope to bring good news soon and focus on Eisley news. Internally... family is always headline news. bd

3:15am 3.9.09 ETMC ER

----------------------------------------

Thurs. morning 1am. 75 hrs into this mini-crisis

Thanks heaps and goads. She's better... sorta. I mean, they fixed one artery that was 99% blocked but left another one that was 70% blocked - not sure why. Would that be like an AC man saying going over his bill: "the visit cost $20,000 so, on our first visit - we fixed a condenser on your AC unit for $500 bucks. The problem is, we see more problems so we might need to come back for another visit in a few months and replace another smaller hose too." I dunno. But we're thankful. She's feeling much better. The problem is - in addition - she's now been diagnosed as diabetic; she's had a really hard day - mostly in tears; the rest was meeting with dietitians and an endocrinologist who kept her in the hospital for more meds/tests. Life is going to change drastically but we're hoping we can reverse present course. Meds are expensive but mandatory. She's already been most of the right stuff... so it's a bit discouraging. Will step things up as defcom level has advanced. We're just going to have take each stress separately and try to cope, survive, beat the odds. Again, I do understand many are suffering far worse physical ailments... all over the world... many are facing darker trials so I'm really trying to remain thankful and keep everything in balance. Not trying to splat you in the face with this. Just keeping you inner circle guys in the loop. Hope to resume w/ band news very soon. Hoping they'll let her come home tomorrow. Again, thanks for the posts... you don't know how much we appreciate it. bd

Cardiovascular Recovery

----------------------------------------

Just wanted to let you guys know we got Kim home. She's sorta doing better. Complex situation. She's physically better because they corrected major damage to another artery caused primarily by dangerous high blood sugar levels that we didn't know about. The endocrinologist (only 50 graduate per year; 1 goes into practice) told Kim, "that's why you're here getting stented... high blood sugar". Doctors failed to let us know 5 years ago when they stented her. Now she's diabetic, having to poke her fingers for blood 4 times per day, give herself insulin, take 6 different meds... (ughh...) so -

I guess we're learning how to be thankful with major setbacks. She's physically stable but emotionally frustrated; discouraged. We're learning that this disease plagues millions of Americans; almost like a household thing. We're all going to cut down on sugars, carbs, sodium... start watching blood sugar levels, blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. We're going to all start exercising. There is a link between health at 18 and health at 50. It's called "cause and effect". Snap your fingers and you'll be reaping what you ate and how you lived out that short chunk of time in the middle. You think it's a long life but it's a vapor.

I was going stir crazy in the hospital... praying, worrying, trying to sleep between 2 and 7 am but chairs aren't comfortable and nurses bust through the door every few minutes. I snapped a few objects with my blackberry.

Again. We appreciate all your thoughts, prayers, love, ... someone even sent their 'energy'. We vow not to stop fighting... on all fronts; including Eisley.

best,
bd

Dear Boyd, I am faithful that God is looking out for your family in this time of need. I understand that times are tough, but look at this way you have such a big supportive team that loves you and Kim so much. You are both amazing people and I have a strong feeling that everything will turn out ok. I am saying a prayer not only for your family, but for Kim to have a wonderful recovery. I know from experience how hard it is to have a love one in the hospital, my mother is deaf in one ear and has bad vertigo. She also has an allergy to gluten, which means if she eats any kind of flour products she will get very sick.

Just last year she was in the hospital feeling pretty sick, and I felt so terrible because I didn't kow if I would loose her. I am very thankful to have her alive everyday.

Boyd, you and Kim have raised such a wonderful family that has not only been so supportive but aslo so close in times like these. I am going to do my best to say a prayer tonight, in hopes that it will help ease some of the stress.

All this must be an incredible burden. I'm hoping in some small way by sharing it with us it makes it slightly more bearable. At the very least, to people like myself, I think sharing it helps to bring into sharp focus what is really important in life, or maybe just remind us. Hopefully you can catch up on some of the sleep you missed, clear your head and soldier on. Prayers incoming ...

No updates.

I'm going to guess Kim was able to come home and you're all helping care for her while also resting yourselves.

Godspeed!
