The Tides of Present Epochs + New clip

There's nothing like watching a Bon Iver Video on digi-vinyl - especially when played on Apple's new iturn.

Familiar Delays
I haven't posted any videos LIVE - from RoseWood. That's because they're not IN the studio. No technical difficulties... don't adjust your set; the program hasn't been canceled. Delays = Kim nearly dying and Sherri's wedding. Only one of those was unexpected.

Kimberly Update
She's home. She's better. She's taking meds. She's coping. She's alive. Thanks so much for everyone's concern, thoughts, prayers. You guys feel like extended family. Sometimes it feels awkward for me to talk about such private things in an un-private place. I have good reason to have great trust.

New Anti-hype Content
I do have a clip however. Before you click play, I should give you a grid for what you're watching. First off - I'm not trying to tease you with new songs here. There are a few bits of pieces... but nobody even knows if these jams will end up on the album... or even an ep.

Secondly - I shot this with the video camera Luke lent me. I had trouble focusing in the beginning. It's WAY nicer than the old one but doesn't work as well in low light. Assumption: a real videographer would have real lights. It's a bit dark in places, a bit long in places. It's also a bit boring in places. My worst editing ever (it didn't merit the time... footage wasn't there).

Anyway, the band is basically just trying to learn songs. The clip starts out with them listening to a crappy live track from the previous session while I try to figure out how to make the camera focus right. I caught them on a weird night... you get to hear some very candid, fly on the wall banter. I could have chosen to post nothing... but - I figure reality is not so uncomfortable. In life: good days/bad days. You're no different. I never want you guys thinking I'm trying to constantly spin this 'rosey'. The very next session was power-packed - resulting in major break-through's... but I wasn't there to film it.

I still like this clip. I like the band; sometimes pointing the camera at Weston results in spontaneous, humorous behavior.

EDIT - I tried posting this on our YouTube channel last night. Result was weird. No videos show up on our page and the code pointed to broken link. However, I searched and found it out in the youtube abyss:EisWood Sessions #2. I also uploaded EisWood sessions #1 for newbies. There actually are valid song clips in this one.

note: RoseWood doesn't have "old grandpa' computers". They are Mac, state of the art... Weston insults people he really likes. Smile

Pre-production
It went really well. 15 songs flushed out. Nothing definitive. Well... ok about 7 or 8 songs are absolute at this point. It's a process. This phase of pre-pro' was most about learning a batch of songs, moving pieces around when necessary (chorus's, verses, bridges, etc)' getting a feel for the scope of a song, thinking about production... and giving WB an ear.

Typically favorites emerge followed by analysis, reflectivity, being as hard on yourself as possible, throwing songs out that you don't think are MASSIVE SINGLES (jk), yanking songs out of the bone pile for re-examination (No... not like "Queen of Leaves" or "Silver Bugs"... I mean new songs).

They're still writing... Stacy - out of boredom since she has more time on her hands right now. Sherri is pretty busy... painting rooms in her new house, organizing, decorating, creating, working w/ Kim on dried flower arrangements, running around snagging things she needs, etc. Max is in LA recording (Say Anything... w/ Neil Avron) and has been for months. Anyway, she's already written an enormous hit single so... she can take a breather. I'm kidding.

I know you have inquisitive minds so... ok - here are names of a few of the new songs: "LillyPeutian - the fairly excitable plow sow", "Gleeber Noggin - YOU COME HERE RIGHT NOW", "Hey, Put This Song in a Movie", "The Froggie-Woggie-woogle Procession in E-minor", "Compact Dis'", "Hi, I'm Eisley and I'm not a PC" and my favorite - "Foot-neck Woman". I can't give you more than that... they'll kill me.

Foreward
We're working on booking concrete dates with RoseWood; it's looking like we'll get back IN for a few days here and there before Sherri's wed' but probably won't start full on until mid April. Sorry if that disappoints... but honestly, it's ok. This gives Sherri time for a proper honeymoon and for everyone to recover from all the drama around here lately.

State of Mind
Basically everyone is fine - band-wise. Happy as those bumble bee's I see zoom-hovering over the Bridal Wreath in our front planter. btw - didn't mean to give u the impression that Stacy isn't helping w/ the wedding. omg- all those girls and Weston and Mark and Collin are chiming in... working hard. They're making so many things themselves. Aside from all the matrimonialisms, everyone is pretty ok; trying to eat right... support Kim by cut down on sugar, getting exercise and trying to stress less. We're leaving the doors open, letting spring in, etc. The band is so stoked over making this album. It's mostly all some of us talk about. That's healthy, right?

Blackberry Snapshots
I didn't know I was going to remember that I had indeed shot a bit of footage from RoseWood. I was just going to give you an update and include some images. As always, they're random and average. My blackberry Curve is not a professional camera:

Bella is cuter and bigger than ever. She runs at the speed of "Road Runner".

I reorganized the pile of logs from the tree that fell in our yard last year.

Mark built this big bunk thing for Collin's room... and this weekend, he
built the ladder. Underneath is a couch and a desk. Perdy fly.

Saturday morning view of side of our house.

Sunday morning view after hrs and hrs of Spring Cleaning.

Stacy's hand wisking away her Turkish Coffee with Turkish Delight that
Mark makes almost every night at our house. mmmm....

Me n Chauntelle rode over to Todd's workshop Saturday to find him working
on his latest work of art.

Close up, unstained.

Bridal Wreath... how fitting.

The Azalea trails are back.

Have a great Spring. Ride your bike (we are). Smell the roses. I'll give you and update as soon as I can. Thanks. ~ boyd

Hahah, Weston's too hilarious.

I also love the grounds of your home. It's like one huge inviting garden.

Don't let anxious musicers rush you guys along with the next album. Sherri deserves a proper wedding/honeymoon. You all deserve to relax and be with Kim. Why would any of us fans want a rushed album that didn't have every bit of Eisley behind it. I love you all and your music just as much as everyone else, but I can wait. Family should come first for everyone, THEN our happiness. lol. Best of luck to Sherri and Max. Good health to Kim especially, but everyone. Best of luck with everything on this album. We aren't going anywhere. Can't hardly wait to hear some new things, but I know I am willing to try Very Happy

Every new album talk means new Boyd faux song names.
=)

That might be a fun Laughing City project - all the board members who write music could write music to/for the titles.

WB won't let you even post studio stuff on YouTube?

I was hoping this clip was up there.

Makes me wish I were a DuPree
Glad Eisley mom's getting better. I'm still praying for her and the family!

Loving the new song names.
I believe you...

And thanks for the video. I don't know of anything technical in the studio, but I think they sound great. And I'm really excited about the new stuff!

Big Ideas - I took the time to upload both of the EisWood sessions videos to our YouTube channel... but do you see them? I even loaded the code (provided) and it was a dead link. However, I just did a search for EisWood Sessions and - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LR9LwV1wYq8. Thanks for the reminder. It was like 4am... I just gave up.

And - don't anyone worry that we're going to rush this. Obviously, it's taking some time but this is all very common. I always say, the music industry should put up signs that say, "Expect Delays".

Boyd, I work for the government. I know all about delays. The speed at which this will come out will blow government scheduling out of the water.
