Just as it should be... (edit: 7/8 Chauntelle Sells)

Tue Jun 23, 2009 10:50 am

If any picture sums up what's happening, it's this one. I can't explain why. Today
is fill in the blank day. Your imagination is important.

FEELIN' IT...
I can't help but believe there are only a handful of us here in T-town that are feeling it (eisley + rosewood studios). It's just as it should be. Why? I won't put it into words. It's the middle of a hot, Texas afternoon, everyone is out hanging out w/ a family member or significant other... or both... at S'bucks or Jason's Deli... wherever. There's a wonderful sentiment ruminating through the ranks; something familiar... can't explain it. Hope is new reverie; the nightmares have subsided. It's as it should be.

Things are pert' near perfect... except for the craving chocolate and coffee in my heart of guts... and - ok, i wish I had an interesting line of thought to hang these random ideas on. Since I'm pretty sure the creation a cup of coffee will be realized with some assurance of success (decently fresh bag of Kenya in there), I should do that. I can continue to dream of chocolate while I dream the impossible dream: forming interesting words that hold your attention for a moment longer.

See what I mean? (above)

FRIDAY BLURB: (I didn't post but am now. why waste words. people are starving for words) Stacy and i ran errands this afternoon; had coffee at S-bucks before running errands around t-town, which was dramatized by the fact that the ole 'burb's AC was out. After about an hour we became one with the heat; in touch with our inner-Texan. You can't fight it. Ever see people trying to fight it?... like - pulling their shirt away from their skin... fanning their face... making awkward faces? No. Forget that. Embrace the heat. Smile, sweat, cool down, forget about how you look... you look awesome. Yep, and that light ice coffee helped us feel (it) and talk about (it). [close friday blurb]

TRACKING

I do have footage of this. She's tracking "Be Kind". hrrmm... so nice.

We've turned in 3 tracks to WB and are listening to mixes from Rosewood on 3 more tomorrow - totally 6. SIX. In case you didn't realize, that could be half the record. Are the songs good? You fill in the blank. With confidence, I implore you (imploring is somewhat like 'goring'... only not as violent) to know. The band is happy, psyched... and... sure, wondering what you'll think. O my.

ON Footage: yes... If you insist. Soon.

Tracking is happening and the band is in a great place but... (there's that butt in the way) - here I am in that awkward role again. I'd love to gush about songs, sounds, the album... but i can't really can't put new secret songs out there; and honestly - the truth about what's behind the curtain lies in what shall be revealed. Am I right? Even if what is not yet revealed is truly great or is truly decent... or not at all... or somewhere in between... I mean, seriously... my blabbing about it deep within this forum is not going to change a thing.

What has to happen for Eisley has little to do with my words, rantings, pictures, clips. I can sure tell you I'm feelin' it, but you have to decide (and you will) how freaking ridiculous or not this 3rd eisley album is.

As I said, I do have footage; spent a lot of time at the studio last week for the first time. I'll probably find time to make a clip... this week if u insist... and we'll get terra-giga-doce'-billions of hits... sure - sure. All good. Nobody comments anymore, but we got huge hits last month. Anticipating drive-time radio impact as well. jk.

Guess I'm just on a no-hype kick. When we get closer to release, you're going to see an onslaught of an Eisley media reminiscent of the great Glandawk Wars of the Moorian Empire. In those days (u might recall), the bi-moon turned dark ochre and the Valley flowed w/ Moor blood crystals that flickered with glowing amber pustules as they were swifted down-dream by the swirly, twirly, rapid Rem River. You'd best be prepared.

But yes... (even tho' there's no clip) things are very on-target; never been more positive. Gary Leach keeps asking "where's Murphy? It's like his law is working in reverse... things that usually go wrong go right". We're even getting endorsements at a time when there's nothing public happening. Oh - and we're adding an gear/tech blog to the business page... as some of you might have already seen so if you want, I'll post some pics of that here since this is my xanga (old joke) and I do and say what I want.

COMPLETION/SCHEDULE
I cannot predict yet. Tracking continues throughout July. We mix, turn in record, count 3 months - if all things go perfect. It could happen. If so, we'd be out touring in October. WB will not give us green light or release date until record is turned in and all systems are go.

NEW TAYLOR ENDORSEMENT

The Taylor endorsement is the newest. Chauntelle's new Taylor sounds like... uhh, what does a million dollars sound like?

We're actually selling her old one. It's actually more rare and expensive and was the best acoustic she's ever owned; it was hands down - twice the tone, sound, electronics of the "Larrivee" but... there's something magical about the new one... and hey, it's straight from Taylor so... u know. We're all about supporting, being good brand stewards, etc. The producers at Rosewood agree... they've been tracking the highest quality guitars known to man for many years. You just walk into the studio when this guitar is cue'd up... and... pure beauty. It's all over the record!:

Anyway, this new Taylor endorsement put 4 guitars into their world to test out. She picked one, Sherri picked one... and since we're in this guitar selling mode, she figured she'd put her existing Taylor out there. Here are some shots I took while at Rosewood:

CHAUNTELLE SELLS
Like last time, Todd will put on e-bay. Will give u a link!
edit 7/8/09: ebay link: http://tinyurl.com/l79f94
Contact: Todd at laroseguitars@yahoo.com

SHERRI UNLOADS (her Hummingbird)
Like last time, Todd will put on e-bay. Will give u a link!
edit 7/8/09: We sold this to a hard core fan direct. Thnx.

Yep... Taylor endorsement puts a beautiful new guitar in her arms that leaves no room for this instrument. My understanding is - it's a limited edition; I wanna say - only 300 made total but honestly, I can't remember and don't have access to those details anymore. She used it on the entire acoustic tour... it's a Gibson. That should say something. I have more pics but honestly, it's taken me days to get this post done.

MESA ENDORSEMENT

Mesa. Ok, I'm not a guitar/amp gear head. These aren't "Boogies". My brother is a gear-head.So is Todd, Garron, etc. But about a year-point-5 ago, Chauntelle picked out her dream amp. Now she has it... (above). Everyone is fascinated with this amp at the studio. You point a mic at it and... good things happen. You turn it on, plug in a guitar... beauty. You don't have to turn the knobs for hours trying to dial in good sounds. The Mesa endorsement is rocking Eisley's guitar world... Sherri got a new amp too. It's different. I haven't actually seen it yet! More about that on the biz page soon.

RANDOM PICS - STUDIO/HOME LIFE

[size=10]Weston, Garron, Zane and Collin worked on Sherri's van for hrs fixing it up... peeling off
old stickers, detailing the inside... all to save them $200.

PREPARING FOR WHAT LIES AHEAD

I needed more space after filling up the last Terabyte of storage on my Western Digital Firewire "My Book"'s. What lies ahead: all projects for new record cycle: album (cd) art, vinyl, posters, ads, new web, press photography, touring, video clips... and digital tracking on tour. Monstrous file storage required.

We're going to do some creative things. Will start on graphics soon... just waiting for a little more flavor to fill my senses first. Excited about what lies ahead... which is: your heads... especially the ears on your heads.

More about what's in our ears:

IN OUR EARS

JEREMY ENIGK - "O.K. Bear"

Jeremy Enigk's new record (it's very Jeremy but very Sunny Day Real Estate) is all the girls and Collin and I are listening to. It's called "OK Bear". Love, love, love it. Recorded in Spain. Listen, Buy. And if you don't have "World Waits", get it... produced by Josh Meyers. So good.

BTW: Sherri just texted me. We've been waiting for this news. Sunny Day Real Estate just posted tour dates. !@#$%! We exchanged various and sundry expletives. Can't miss a show on that tour. But Eisley needs to be on tour by then. Ahhhhh!!! ha ha. This is huge.

Weston and Garron are also listening to Jeremy's new record and... the funky new "Mew" tune on their myspace though they are huge Enigk fans as well. Mew is the new Kent.

Bon Iver gets my goat: Wolves Part 1

Angus & Julia Stone: This is also hot - "The Beast"

Decemberists: new wow.

MuteMath album - ARMISTICE comes out in August.

I was quite thrilled to get work with MuteMath as designer (cd, vinyl, dmd) for their new release: "ARMISTICE". What a great record. Working w/ them was great - no surprises. I did the last project - the Spotlight ep - as well: View).

Can't wait to hear this new record live. Ridiculous. And I love what WB is doing w/ the album design on line. If you're a fan, go check it out. Great ideas. Inspirational. And most of that is all MM's doing. We're gonna mix it up... do some cool things too. I want u guys to be stoked over the record. What... so I should go ahead and do a clip? You fill in the blank.

TWITTER IMMEDIACY
Eisley - http://twitter.com/Eisley (try to limit to band news/updates)
Sherri - http://twitter.com/SDuPreeBemis
Stacy - http://twitter.com/StacyLDupree (corrected)
Chauntelle - http://twitter.com/ChauntelleD
Garron - http://twitter.com/ggggarron

p.s. Some are asking if Chauntelle will sing on the record. Already, she's the critical background vox on "Smarter"... but she's harmonizing all over this record. 3 part, here they come.

p.s.s. See photos Jamie added (2 posts down) from hometown acoustic gig w/ Eisley and Say Anything. It was divine. The memories still linger.

Ok, bye. ~ bd

Love all the pics. You have some sweet shots there. Smile

I just bought the VIP package for Mute Math in October, but I'm having to travel to Vegas. I can't afford that twice so PLEASE tell Warner that you will not skip SLC when you finally tour. LOL

So glad to hear things are going well!!

Have you even listened to Bon Iver's Blood Bank song before?
It's always been a good favorite of mine. :]
Bon should seriously tour with you guys sometime in the future.

I can almost promise you we won't skip SLC. It's a tough market for many bands but to me, we were beginning to connect.

Heard tweaks/mixes to those 3 more songs today... sorta exciting.

Balls to Eisley. SDRE is where it's at! Now get those fellas to the I'm, chance. Probably not. Good to see things are going swimmingly for the Eisley's. Keep on keeping on. We need some musical offerings sometime. Look forward to it.

Thought I'd 'hit' you up on this venue and tell you how excited (your word would be . . . I don't know . . . stoked!) to hear the new music (do you really cool people still call it music, or am I behind the times?)! LOOOVE the MuteMath artistry . . . so much talent with all you people!

So . . . when you start your NEW TOUR . . . with all your new awesome 'tar toys . . . will there be any stops in Texas? Anywhere?

Keep it up! Your fans are waiting with baited breath (what DOES that mean?)

Turnabout is fair play, our curtain-hiding friend. Disappear behind the shimmery shroud like that for a month and we'll petulantly react with a mini silence strike. But all is good, no blood no foul. It's just very dangerous for us to sustain the excitement level at max power this early because somewhere between now and LP3 a mushroom cloud of anticipation will trigger. But that won't keep us from dancing on the minefield! Every morsel is tasty, every nugget a 24-carat lump of gold. Keep 'em coming, wizard of ah's.

Speaking of mushroom clouds, Taylors are the acoustic equivalents of Fat Man and Little Boy. Taylor & Guild are my favorites, not that I get to play either beyond the twenty minutes before I hear the words, "So are you gonna buy that or what?" That's an awesome score, and just goes to show the good taste that goes on down thar.

Chauntelle adding her lungpower for 3-part harmonies - hey a birthday wish finally came true! To think I nearly missed that candle at back-left.

Am able to enjoy a day outside without fear of drowning or frying for the first time in what seems like weeks. In future all government spy data will be stored on flash drives with a Twix bar exterior - that way the 'read and eat' order becomes a much more pleasurable experience and no more secrets falling into the wrong hands. Only the wrong stomachs.

yes... yes... it's exactly what i did. I love my shimmery shroud. It's my favorite one. I have other shrouds but... they're so dull. But I'm fine with the dull ones; no more mini-silent strikes.
