We do realize this tour was foreshadowed a bit on Twitter. I know some of your thoughts already just from reading that thread. We are excited about the tour. Eisley is embarking on a new era, has a new album nearly completed to be released on a re-energized WB and... quite honestly, the parade can't be rained on.

Still - thought I'd take a few minutes to clear a few things up. Say anything you want, you trusty insiders, but hold your thoughts. I'll give you the short version and the long version. After... you can flame me... or kiss me or send me a free iphone because my blackberry is driving me to daggers.

Short Form Factoids

1.) Eisley's new LP could not be finished in time for an '09 release. Long delays in establishing new foundation plus those delays w/ recording cost precious time. Apologies to all of you who have been patient, long-suffering, kind and supportive over the past year. Work on the record will continue through August... and beyond.

2.) News of a prolonged release caused a shift in strategy. Instead of sitting around waiting for a Early 2010 album release, we began talking immediately about setting up the record by touring (marketing) this Fall.

3.) WB's top pick was Say Anything. The industry looks carefully at what's coming... happening... buzzing, etc. WB asked me to do everything humanly possible to get on this particular tour. It wasn't just some incestuous-ish tour of convenience. This is S.A.'s headlining tour to promote their 3rd, much anticipated album. Eisley is main support. Since it's an underplay tour, shows will likely sell out giving Eisley opportunity to reach/strike hard at a broad cross section of enthusiastic, open-minded fans (and garner love from thousands). S.A. has had all KINDS of bands out w/ them. Even a band who had brass (horns, etc). Very eclectic, creative.

3.) EP- We are also releasing a limited edition, 4 song EP. Yes, a tangible, physical, collectible, product. A disc in a digipac package that will likely include a high quality (small) litho. This product is for the tour and will feature: 1.) 2 juicy smash hits off the new LP, 2.) 2 garage band demos and 3.) an Eisley cover song by Max, of Say Anything.

4.) The limited edition EP will sold at Eisley's merch table on tour and also digitallly on itunes as an exclusive (that's not be limited). Of course it's a lure to get Eisley's base out to shows. ha ha. It's the first thing S.A.'s manager asked for after telling me how much they wanted Eisley on this tour. p.s. He's also Deathcab's manager.

5.) Tour Routing Dates are up.Hope few are unhappy. It's a major market tour. If you're in a small town, sorry. I always say, "road trip".

Screw the long version. I nailed the short version.

Unwarranted Commentary

So if you disagree with the idea of this particular tour for any reason whatsoever, it's ok; no shame. Everyone reacts to their own brain's thoughts, values, likes, dislikes, etc. Try to think about the 18 month stretch Eisley just endured while waiting on all this crap to get resolved before they could even tour again when you think about their mindset. They began funneling all energies into song-writing and recording but once the distressing news came that the record couldn't be released in '09, there was no holding back. It was Katy bar the van door. This tour makes sense. Doing a support tour is our only option. We have to reserve headlining for an album release tour next year.

All I can do is speak from my own head-waves... I enjoy going to shows. I love hearing, watching bands. I love hanging out w/ friends, etc. If it were me, I'd really want to go... just get an exclusive ep... and so i could hear the band perform new songs... and hopefully so I could meet the band (eisley typically comes out and signs on support slots).

Sure, there is cash involved. I'm certainly not a guy with xtra cash but sometimes cash is spent on impulse purchases with no thought. Like - yesterday, I spent the equivalent of the price of 1 ticket on buying mine and Stacy's coffee and breakfast at Starbucks. We had food and coffee at home. We are all willing to pay $3-6 on a swig of coffee but somehow quantize cost differently when we think about expending on going to a show, which might likely give us a long-term experience. Impulse is easy. I'm guilty.

As far as Say Anything goes, I realize some of you might think they are like some of the other bands Eisley went out with that you didn't like. I say they're not. Say Anything sorta owns their own planet. It's not on planet Eisley but it's very creative, indie, quirky, lyrically brilliant. And, I'm told they have a very open-minded fan base who are probably going to 'get' Eisley. So... come on; give peace a chance. Also, one of my favorite songs in the world right now is on S.A.'s new record. It's a song about Sherri; her name in the lyric... so honest and romantic. I'm telling you... they are a cool band.

And S.A. really have been fans since the beginning. Max, in particular. The idea for having him cover a song was also WB's idea [project manager / marketing director]. Often tour mates cover each others songs on tour projects. It sorta helps fans shake hands. Bands need each others fans even if fans don't always need each other's bands. That was deep. Admit me.

Also - here's a little more about the ep. You get 2 real songs off the record... they will be mixed at Rosewood. They are quite special. Likely that the record will be mixed elsewhere, which means the LP versions will be different. That way, you'll be able to have 2 versions. You can debate which one is best. You can love one, hate the other!

Again, sorry about the delay in the LP release. I think you'll appreciate wait... the outcome from such a laborious, love-laced venture. Why even yesterday, orchestral strings were recorded here in Tyler; all a ploy to pull on your heartstrings - forcing you to listen longingly to this record until you reach an emotional decision you are enraptured... in love.

STUDIO UPDATE
Blah, blah... Wuddah you care now that the record isn't freaking coming out until next year. ha-Ha! Here are a few important scenes:

sorry... couldn't resist. snapped this while composing this journal... we were watching HotRod for the 20th time;
this is my favorite scene in almost any film. I laugh to tears every time he falls... and falls...

Crying or Very sad - For Eisleyfan#####

you broke his heart.

Very Happy - for me cause I had a feeling an EP was coming, and glad the stars are lining up and you guys can hold out and avoid the monster fall for releases. Look out though, you might run headlong with radiohead and Deathcab releases in 2010... But Deathcab is on Atlantic, a WB subsidiary Wink

Hopefully a certain # of EPs will be held for each show? Would suck for us going to TX dates at the end of the tour and there are no EPs left!

Not a Say Anything fan, but excited to see Eisley again nonetheless. I really hope the SA fans will get Eisley like you said, because if they do then what Eisley fan WOULDN'T be happy about the band gaining new fans?

Y'all need to come to St. Louis so Paul and I can come see you and bring you doughnuts (though if worse comes to worst we'll travel on up to Chicago with a gooey butter cake in tow).

And I was highly amused that you said "Katy bar the van door" since my grandpa calls me "Katy bar the door." Very Happy

I happen to be a huge Say Anything fan as well as an Eisley fan, so I'm very excited for this tour. I'm already getting fans together for a show in FL!!

So exciting! What song was Stacy playing? I would take a guess and say it's "Ambulance". But that's just a guess. I'll be at the KC show, for sure. Really excited to see Eisley for a 4th time. Every show of theirs gets better and better, I swear.

Eisley gets a tour of sorts, and Weston gives a tour de force. Dang Gary and his stripping ways! Laughing Following everybody's July updates and seeing how hard everyone was working, in a forum thread my stance that an album was forthcoming in 2009 boldly changed from "very skeptical" to "somewhat skeptical." I appreciated the ambition but remained cautious because 3 things in this life are certain: death, taxes, and album delays. (Oh wait, there's one more: Cubs fans intoning "Wait 'til next year!") So this news is not a surprise, nor a disappointment really. I know the end results will be worth the wait. The amps won't be too cold and the mics won't be too hot - everything will be just right.

This tour sounds like a great opportunity to grab new fans, put them in burlap sacks, and keep them in your basement. And they will like it, oh yes they will. "Bands need each others fans even if fans don't always need each other's bands." Holy s--- that just blew my freakin' overly fatigued mind. Masterfully put! Circulate few more of those and you'll get drafted as Bono's ghostwriter.
