Fire Kite EP. Preview

Tue Oct 06, 2009 1:17 pm

Rolling out a sneak preview is something we decided to do internally. When I realized Amazon stole our thunder, i just thought...fine. I'll go ahead ane post it here. A place to discuss... This has been out all day, on our forum, on Twitter. But for Trolley subscribers only, thought I should post here as well.

Here's the cover. Simple, organic, symbolic, understated. Reminiscent of Laughing City ep era.

Litho. Bundled w/ the ep... at our cost. After the tour, we'll sell them, so come to a show so you can get it free... signed.

Physical ep Track List - (on tour)

1. The Valley  3:16 (track off LP)
2. Ambulance 3:54 (track off LP)
3. 192 Days  3:50 (garage band demo)
4. Telescope Eyes  3:19 (performed by Max Bemis)

Digital ep Track List - iTunes

1. Ambulance 3:54
2. The Valley 3:16
3. Away We Go 3:00 (*see comment below!)
4. 192 Days 3:50

Amazon already has clips of all of the songs up. Actually, I am laughing and am furious at the same time. "Away we go" is sped up... AhHhHh! - sounds like Eisley Chipmonks. I already sent a scathing email to wb as I have been doing much of lately. !#%! Maybe this one isn't their fault. I had to handle all merch myself, locally in crisis mode. I am calm now and it's all good. Panic over. Created/turned in final art to printer today after a freakish frenzy last night. We will have 2 really great American Aparrel T-s + a great hoodie... all sporting classic eisley designs!

As mentioned, the first two - "Ambulance" and "The Valley" are UN-MIXED production tracks. Remember - this ep is just to wet the appetite. The garage band songs are just for fun... x-tra's. "192 Days" is one you are going to love very much... though this is the garage band version. It's quite amazing, even though this clip is before all the harmonies and eerie/sweet vibe comes in. "Away We Go" is one Stacy and Sherri found to toss in as a replacement for Max's cover-song since we couldn't release it digitally.

Comment if you so desire. I wouldn't be able to tell much at all from these clips. I might put an entire song up on myspace just before we hit the road. Things are quite exciting. Ok. That's it for now... now and forever... - bd

I have to add a "more" on this so i can identify this page with a specific url that self generates (php). Am sitting outside a Panera Bread in Dallas using wifi. We aren't stealing. We ate like fat pigs. Leaving soon to go grab Sherri at DFW - coming in from LA. cya.

I cannot wait to buy this EP! And I definitely cannot wait for the tour and the new merch!

Yes, please, please, please with a cherry on top of a mountain of awe-inspiring ice cream post the entire Away We Go on Myspace! If I've been listening to the chipmunk version of the preview on Amazon and digging it, I think a slower version will be even more amazing.

That Man on the Moon sketch was great when Sherri posted it before. This version on the Litho is gorgeous.

i cannot wait to freakin' own this!

i was thinking today, playing the preview for ambulance over and over, how much ya'll have gone through. (and we fans outside having personal connections with you dont even know everything) and it's lame but it made me tear up. i don't know. i think about how i've been when going through a breakup or a loss and i can't keep an interest in anything and its hard to even fake a smile. watching videos in the studio on youtube and getting small glimpses into your lives via twitter, im amazed and inspired by the strength of this band and family. im really looking forward to this album because i feel like it's something that's just going to instantly connect.

i love this artwork. cant wait for the show at the end of the month. *sigh* <3

don't lose any sleep over it being sped up. that's an internal problem at Amazon. i've heard a number of songs like that from different artists. usually gets cleared up within a day or so.
