Thrashing About

Music Fashion Mag - photographer - Chris Phelps

Greetings faithful remnant of the Trolley enclave. Yes - yes, scoldings/thrashings are in order. We promised to post images from the tour and update more frequently. To place a thrashing order please enter the user/pass (provided) to to receive a.) thrashing implements b.) Eisley's secret mp3 player page. Instructions: Listen to the new record before using the thrashing implements, decide if you want to join our new enclave: Fed Up. (rhetoric license. there is no link. read on.)

Fed up - If you're already fed up there's no need to join (purely figurative) unless you think we should continue this conversation in private. I'm fairly certain we're all on the same page. Hey, is the the rogue forum still active? Just wondering. Where's that secret cranny to rant when you need it. Meet us at Starbucks.

@boydd57 2 days ago on Twitterific "Listening to mixes... focused on maneuvering around WB's post-contractual, suppressive behavior."

Yes, we're frustrated for good reason but are going to purposely sidestep the inside business crap and just say - you guys deserve new music and we're doing everything possible to make sure that happens. We're holding back words, attempting to be professional... managing the info-flow, etc. but we're not holding back on moving forward.

Mixing - We recently mentioned we were mixing Eisley's most recent WB record. Technically correct. Eisley recorded these songs while under contract w/ WB. They paid for the recordings, they own the recordings. That's how it works. We are mixing it on our own (meaning - an amazing mixer in the Bay Area named Andy Freeman; we met him through the Paste Mag & Pure Vol. folks) and it's going really well. If I were describing these mixes, I would use words like warm, powerful, lush, bold, honest...

@SDuPreeBemis - 43 minutes ago via web "I wish I could let you guys hear these new mixes for the album. They make me so happy. I'm so blessed that we get to make music for you guys."

Photos - Apologies. It's really hard to think about devoting tons of time/energy to more eisley pics. Thrash me; it's not like there's an on-line shortage. Well - am I right? lol. Already spent 3-4 hrs on editing but more important matters stole headspace. I seriously have a hard time focusing on anything beside this record and the Fall tour.

Fall Tour - It's being routed. It is real and will start around October 13th; more than likely continue past Thanksgiving for a week or so. Major markets... some B markets. Probably US only though nothing is in stone. Basically Eisley will pick up where they left off (reference -Mild Mild Midwest Tour). Typical headlining run; we'll brand it, tour it... 1.5 months minimum, Christie will open (yeah!). If you don't mind - hold off on questions about main support. I'll just say - we have to take out a well-established act. Eisley's history of bringing support we support speaks for itself.

@SDuPreeBemis - 33 minutes ago via web "Got this off ETSY today. I apologize in advance 4 how much you'll see me in it on Fall tour. http://twitpic.com/2fp0wq"

New Record Release - Doubt you'd want to thrash if we told you it was our goal to have this record in your hands this Fall (in time for the tour). Everyone is very on board with this scenario. Being fed up can be motivating. To pull this off we'd have to have a few break-thru's... not to mention - circumvent standard set-up, spend nothing on marketing/advertising, forgo the physical cd, etc. Essentially the record would be released digitally and pushed via publicity. Obstacles. Out of our control. Working on resolving.

@SDuPreeBemis - about 19 hrs ago via Twitter for iPhone "Oh, Mr. Moon - shines down on my home, it's where I belong without you."

Basically there has been nothing said here about who, why, how, when, where, what the'..., etc. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. It's our responsibility to make sure music finds it's way into your ears. Every signed band has to face the dark side of this industry at some point. Suffice to say, Eisley is moving on... even beyond this record.

Thanks always,

bd

p.s. Check out Music Magazine's feature as well as Filter's - Ragged Magazine on the band.
p.s.s. Sorry about all the sentence frag's. No time for long, sinewy, verboseal structure.

Sign me up for b (imaginary though it may be). I could be a professional tester audience listener thing.

Thanks for the update doobly-doo.

Your welcome. btw - there is some discussion going on here: http://www.eisley.com/laughingcity/viewtopic.php?p=762037#762037
I keep telling gRegor we need Trolleywood to be more like a forum... or I should just post in Laughing City and abandon the Wood. It's weird... a post on fb gets heaps of hits and loads of comments - almost instantly.

I think we had a total of 700 comments or something over just a few posts over there about the tour recently. We're really hidden in here. Not sure what to do. Discuss on that thread if u want. Thnx.

Dear Eisley, I still love you Smile Tour: get it on! Sorry y'all are having record label woes but I think it'll all be worth it in the future. Very Happy

Yeah yeah, Facebook Facebook. You realize Facebook is the popular girl that everyone wants to hang out with but can't stop from blabbing everyone's personal secrets to anyone that asks. Comparing comment counts alone is misleading, you should examine the page hits too. Obviously not everyone who reads the posts leaves a comment. To post on Trolleywood you have to be registered with the LC forum: the realm of the hardcore fan. To post on Facebook, you only have to be added as a friend on a site used for other purposes, so you can be a softcore fan. So it really depends whether you prefer hardcore or softcore phonography.

*BA DUM BUM!*

I like the idea of the Fed Up enclave, I'm sure there are many qualified applicants. We could stage factional guild wars against the Rumor Mongers and the Label Bashers for superiority. New music at any point this year would be wunnerful, and almost something of a surprise. Lots of trampoline-sized jumping. And not for all the reasons you might think: Eisley is 7th on my Last.fm play count and losing ground on #6 Smashing Pumpkins simply because they don't have as many songs to get selected by the randomizer, even with oldie live unrecorded songs in the mix. A new album in heavy rotation would shoot them past the squabbling Corgan-D'Arcy-Iha (post-which the Pumpkins ceased to exist in my mind) triumvirate and propel them towards #5 Cocteau Twins. That's a fair distance, but since they're retired and with Eisley's track record of spellbindization anything can happen. The standings are up for grabs!

Just to ensure I've properly motivated the troops, I'll have a go with the Cat O' Nine Tails please. Wink

Thanks so much for the updates, Boyd! Sorry for all your angst and the endless headaches with the record label... those bast#@*s!!! Sad

Anyway, your Trolley Wood comments are ALWAYS greatly appreciated and anticipated ( even as few and as overdue as they may be :wink) Don't forget about all us TrolleyWood folks and just go all Facebook and Twitter on us...

Can't wait for the new CD and the fall concert tour!!! We're totally psyched about both. Very excited to hear all the new music.
Really looking forward to seeing you all when you finally come our way. Love

Damn. All the waiting sucks but 2 quote the band "Til the stars fall I will always love you." I'd wait just as long 4 the new music if need be. I know it'll be worth the wait. I send you all my deepest most profound love. Wishing you guys the absolute best.

Always glad to see you in here Boyd. Remember TW>FB by a factor of 128.

I had been hoping to see Eisley completely abandon the last WB record. Not just because of the headaches but because the material is the result of a place that Eisley no longer inhabits. I would much rather Eisley go into their fabulous new home studios (huh?) and crank a blissed out album they can feature in a tour at the start of 2011.

But I'll settle for "Eisley is moving on... even beyond this record." Smile
