HELLO TEMPE. (not like when a rock star says it from stage...more like,
hey wuts up tempe.) So, haven't we been here before? I mean...the
venue; I think it's the same one Eisley played with Brand New. Not sure.
In that case, I hope some of you converts that saw the band with those
nuckleheads come back for a preview of Eisleyness; the band has grown
in one year. They're tighter and are sporting a new line of sweet tunes.
(like I'm really talking to people in Tempe... hi Pzykotic, hi granpa turtle,
hi all you forum pals... "HELLO FORUM PALS!"...spoken with the full
impact of total rock star cheese.)
I hope. I hope. I hope that the show tonight will be greaterific and that
our pot luck sound guy dinner will be tastey. I hope that for you and I
hope that for me - so that I don't go ballistic and beat the crap out of
some innocent, peace loving, front of house guy. (just kidding, I don't
even own weapons and have never been in a fight).
Eisley is out at Borders - snooping around, drinking coffee, gazing
through books and enjoying the good life. If they had any money, they'd
actually buy products - but, broke is our second name, so...no worries.
As long as we can get from venue to venue and have a hotel bed to sleep
in, and eat gas station food, we're in good spirits. And anyway, last
night's extravaganza at Olive Garden was fancy, fancy...very indulgent.
Well, Pat Kauchik from the board - a fairly long time friend/photographer
is at the hotel and we're gonna hang for a bit. I just advanced some
more shows and learned that the Austin show has plenty of tickets left...
so you Texans start those phones-a-ringin'. Operaters are standing by to
take your call. Gotta go. bdout.

The TEMPE SHOW
I'm pulling songs from the show tonight off video, but most of them are
distorted since the sound was SO hot and loud tonight... my little mic was
screaming..."no!...nohhhh!!!!" Dang. too bad. many of the songs came off
so good. I could put one or two up anyway just so you could hear them.
Then again, they're pretty bad...tsk. tsk.
Well...about the show. It's so strange. Every night has a different
character with a different crowd, a different spirit... a different outcome,
etc. Tonight, the unexpected happened - at least from my perspective,
but first I'll say: The F.O.H. guy - "Grasher" did a great job of mixing; as
I said, it was a bit hot... and the highs were almost painful at times, but...
pretty much - everything was in the right place and you could hear the
vocals (almost too much).
So, the sound was goodish - that's for sure - so that's to be factored in.
Secondly, it was a smaller crowd. Snow Patrol hasn't been thru here...
(that's what I was told) so there was no sell out crowd. In fact, there
were only exactly 493 paying customers thru the doors. So, it was a little
more intimate. But it seemed like there were tons of Eisley fans there.
Maybe they were Snow Patrol fans who just liked the band, but there was
a great response... You guys where were there can vouch. We've been
here once... so that was nice. (oh man, the audio on this video tape is
distorting so bad...)
I'm busy grabbing stills... better sign off and get them cooking for
tomorrow.
Quickly, after the show, and after settling, sound scan, etc. we headed
for that downtown area thing with all the shops to search for coffee like
we always do. Woah. was it OPEN... "Plantation Coffee". wow. I had a
large ice caramel esspresso.... with 4 shots. Capital A, bro. it was out of
sight... it was rad-mo-Joe. yes. Why do you think I'm still awake at
3:00am? But I need to sleep...so I'll finish this in the morning.
We met some really nice people tonight... Westly and sis... why can't I
remember her name? I think it was like...Tinkerbell, cuz she had red hair
and looked sorta like the real Tinkerbell...only, in indie clothes. (sorry)
When we pulled away, we crossed the yellow tape stretched across the
drive and popped it with our trailer... screaming, we got away and passed
some kids on the curb as we pulled out.... and Jonathan yelled, "hey, get
to bed"... like always - to everyone, and it turned out to be that brother
and sis... Chauntelle sulked as we sped off..."Guys, that was them!...I
feel so bad now; they were going to meed the rest of the band; (too late)
It was great to see them walking into the same coffee shop 15 minutes
later. Good convo's and good times and good coffee. sweet. night.
