I was a little taken back when only a few fans were so down on the song...but, remember: it was ruff... unmixed and unfinished. (again, learned my lesson.) But, yesterday the song got tweaked. Since this thread is still alive, I'll throw down some detail about it. Wasn't going to but...whatev'. Added: • rhythm guitar (beautifully tracked in one take by Sherri) • electric guit's on the Chorus (chauntelle played sherri's thin line tele' with 2 humbuckers through an old Fender Twin using a touch of distortion) • More umph on the kick drum. • changed: removed the guitar hamburger on the bridge. Re-tracked the simple lead part that follows the melody and removed some of the layering to remove the ugly creed-crunch the hamburger. It's a little different mix also, but all of that will fall under the watchful ear of whoever finally mixes this entire body of work. (Rich Costey still at the top of the list) Either way, I'm going on record as saying that this song will have an impact somehow on eisley's career... I don't know how. A movie, a radio song... maybe it could be their "Creep". Not stylistically, of course...or for anything except...hmm, how should I word it: a flying albatross; I just think the song has what it takes to grab lots of people. Speaking in British vernacular - it's pop. Speaking in American terms, it's a catchy little rock tune... it's vintage... it's memorable (sticks in your head), it's simply a lovely song. And... it's very Eisley. If nothing comes of it, that's cool too. It's just another portfolio piece that and shows the dimensionality... the multi-faceted character of this young band. We'll see. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. I didn't care for it so much, but I hadn't heard it in a couple days and still found myself humming the chorus ... which, when you consider the amount of music I listen too, is a good thing. It's growing on me and I still think it fits in the rock lexicon in between the power pop of Cheap Trick's "Surrender" and the over-the-topness of McCartney's "Live and Let Die." Wait, screw the greowing on me part, I like it. Period. I went through this same scenario with "Sunfeet." _________________ "It's the new golden fact." |

hey poorwriter. I think you'll love the new Sunfeet. But, this song (my lovey) is, admittedly, in a different category from many Eisley tunes... but not so far from the center to shape public opinion away from who they are. The song is better now, but still has the same character. Just so everyone will know, WB doesn't see it as a single... at least not today. WB = a very small audience right now. (craig) When the record is mixed, t'll be listened to by a bigger swatch of label peeps...like a Phil Costello, the Reprise radio guy. You never know what'll happen in that meeting. If a consensus develops for any song, it could end up as the first single. That's why I don't really care too much about label reaction right now. It's so early. Anyway, we will see you, of course. Soon? sheesh. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. The first thing that popped into my mind when I heard it was "this would be awesome in a movie", but I also thought that of Head Against The Sky and Dream For Me. I wanna hear them all live. _________________ |

yeah, which all reminds me of how i was sure that we'd know the tracklisting of the album by now, since it presumably would have been finished... looks like now it IS winding down though, right?> i mean, what else is left before mixing happens? and wouldn't you guys already have decided on the tracklist before then?? hey ideal.... one would thing so. but i believe there will be more songs mixed than what will be on the record. They'll want to hear what magical things can be done before determining the fate of the songs and the record. There are still songs to record. Perhaps many will not be mixed.... we'll see. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead.
