Yeah, I didn't curse him out or anything. I mean, I consider him a friend for God sakes. Still, I know exactly what he did reviewing the article because I know how busy he is...and you can be sure it didn't involve listening to the CD straight through like he should have. Mainly, I let him know the political and religious stereotyping was definitely not cool and certainly not constructive. And whatever anyone thinks, reviews do matter, especially if Eisley hopes to crossover (which I imagine they would). |

I posted this on another thread homesick_alien wrote: I bet i know the reason why. I bet he had 20 or so promo albums dumped on his desk at once.He was too lazy to give them all a spin so he went through the archives at RS and found that other dull review and just fed his comments off that as he played a few bits and pieces of the album as opposed to listening to it. Todays lazy journalism at its finest How close to the truth is that? _________________

You have earned one and a half stars on your reviewing credibility, writing skill and content of your review of eisley's new album "room noises". "[Eisley}....should have performed at W.'s reinauguration." Here you show beautiful example of the offspring of your unwanted political opinios, and the opinions you are getting paid to publish. A move I am sure will thrust you from being a struggling writer on the streets of New York, to sitting in the most cush corner office New York Times has to offer. "...this youthful small-town Texas quintet of polite, pretty Christian siblings...." I am not sure where you were going with this, or what the point of pointing out the fact that they are Christians might have been, or if you even had a point at all. However, I would like to say that in my expirience in listening to music I have never known a bands religon to effect the musicians talent, but perhaps you hear something in it I don't. I am somewhat naive at times I guess. this is what I respnded with. I didnt talk about his opinion on eisley, that doesnt bother me. what bothers me is writer for big corperations that dont know what they are doing. well thats what I wrote, it makes me feel better. I dont know that i am going to send it though. _________________

I'd much rather e-mail him at a RollingStone.com address. Can't find that one, though. It seems rather offensive to send it to his personal address. Not to mention that he's a graduate of the University of Michigan. How do we know that address still works if he's been gone for however many years? Obviously you, whatever and ever amen (great name, btw) didn't have a particularly good working relationship with him, or you wouldn't be encouraging us to flame the poor guy. Yeah, he's a crap writer, but he deserves a private e-mail address just like any of us. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

I concur. It's one thing to email the guy at his work address, but it's not too cool to give out a private (or certainly "semi-private") email address encouraging "let him have it!" to a community where not everyone might be tactful. I removed the address, because I don't want this to reflect poorly on Eisley or the community. Sorry. _________________ "The revolution starts today, not tomorrow." :: got g-Love? |
