the SITE being DOWN IS UNACCEPTABLE to us
You must know that. ALL efforts have been made and now resolved to a
great ending. I won't leave this announcement up long - but just so you
will know - the server has been up and down...off and on... !#!@%!%.
I'm sure you felt the same frustration. I have been very mad, indeed.
But! Read on..

APOLOGIES
Before I explain in dumb laymans terms - because that's what i am, i
humbly apologize for the frustration you guys have been feeling as a
result of recent downtime with eisley.com and the forum (both residing
on eisley.com server).

THE PROBLEM IS FIXED!
This morning's interregation brought the host's team of geeks back out to
our brand new box... AGAIN. They'd been looking for everything and
anything - EXCEPT for.....

the power supply.

Yep. bad power supply. that means...like, a short in the wire or
something relative to electricity NOT getting electricity to the server!
So... it's fixed.

p.s. one of my exclaimatorial e-mail's/i-chat shouts to Thomas this morning read: "man, is there a short in the power chord over there or what??!!" See why it's important to have dumb guys on the team?

SECURITIES AND FINAL TWEAKS
There might be a few last, final, tweaks that will cause them to shut down
and reboot - Today, in fact; Thomas's bro-in-law is finishing up all the
security work today.

That's what he does for like...NASA or something, so... we're talking iron
clad security. But other than this - we're going to have smooth sailing.
And if there ARE any problems, rest assured, we'll be on the phone with
live, warm people within minutes... and those people will be ON that box -
within minutes.

Thankyou and good day. Sincerely Boyd

I cant believe we made it from March to late July without a major glitch! This last one was the result of an automatic security patch from a 3d party vendor that was messed up and so it was entirely their fault - not us - not the Data Center. The Data Center where we locate our server had 3 other servers go down before they realized what was up.

Early on there was suspicion of hacks... and while the logs clearly show some hacker like activity... ok... a total hacker trying to access the system at about the same time the server went down it appears (by review of detailed logs) that this Taiwanese hacker was not able to actually do anything.

Everything should be working... this involved a total migration of every little detail... like file permission settings on thousands of folders. Email accounts and passwords and IP address settings and SSL certificates and man.. it was pain in the neck.

The tech put nearly 20 hours into this. They also made some additional changes in the firewall and some other things to help secure the server even better.

So.. all I can really say is that I am sorry for the glitch... THANK YOU for hanging in there!

I didn't look at the date of the initial post, so I thought this was a new thread and was like "WHAT, the power supply again?!" Laughing
