Buttons would be a good idea, but then we have to all decide wear to put them. It would be pretty bad if no one could see them.

cafepress has some nice big buttons that we can have made with a design on it. they sell them for the base price of 1.25 each. if we keep that price no one is making a profit but cafepress.

that's an example of a button i made to show the size of it

People keep mentioning "if there's no profit involved", but individuals profiting (or not profiting) is not really the issue.

As boyd said, "Income streams from entities have to go to the person/persons/creators (in this case, the institution of Eisley) and%'s to the investors that fund support them."

Income streams not profit streams.

If a forum shirt is made and say 200 people buy one, that's 200 shirts that won't be bought through the official channels. Imagine if fan-created shirts - sold at cost - became more popular than official shirts and started cutting into their sales. The label has to watch out for stuff like this as it's part of their vested interest. "That wouldn't happen with this", you say, but where does the label draw the line? Marketing the brand is a part of the whole "big label contract", for better or worse. Boyd's not trying to be a jerk, he's just looking not to piss off the label by approving something that they may not like.

I'll ask boyd about all of this in person on Thursday at the show, I would imagine there is a pretty agreeable solution to this.

P.S. Buttons are a cool idea, too.

buttons are cool.

and whoever said that we would need to decide wear to wear them, um... i don't think that's an issue.

as are the downloadable stencils idea. However, many people have no idea how to do stencils well. How about having a downloadable design which one could take into a tshirt printing shop?
