Do you think eisley had to stay up 'til 2 in the morning writing term papers. uhh... posting at 2 in the morning... I'll do anything aside from writing this paper. |

I believe that if anything is worth doing, it would have been done already. 2. I shall never move quickly, except to avoid more work or find excuses. 3. I will never rush into a job without a lifetime of consideration. 4. I shall meet all of my deadlines directly in proportion to the amount of bodily injury I could expect to receive from missing them. 5. I firmly believe that tomorrow holds the possibility for new technologies, astounding discoveries, and a reprieve from my obligations. 6. I truly believe that all deadlines are unreasonable regardless of the amount of time given. 7. I shall never forget that the probability of a miracle, though infinitesmally small, is not exactly zero. 8. If at first I don't succeed, there is always next year. 9. I shall always decide not to decide, unless of course I decide to change my mind. 10. I shall always begin, start, initiate, take the first step, and/or write the first word, when I get around to it. 11. I obey the law of inverse excuses which demands that the greater the task to be done, the more insignificant the work that must be done prior to beginning the greater task. 12. I know that the work cycle is not plan/start/finish, but is wait/plan/plan. 13. I will never put off until tomorrow, what I can forget about forever. 14. I will become a member of the ancient Order of Two-Headed Turtles (the Procrastinator's Society) if they ever get it organized. |

I was home schooled for a time in my existence, and let me tell you it is not the walk in the park that some might think. There is a lot of school work involved, but usually there are not deadlines that would warrant staying up until two in the morning. Some people who home school do it year round, for six or seven days a week; I got lucky since my parents weren't that slave master type. Ok, this is going no where, bottom line it is probably true, homeschoolers don't have to stay up until two in the morning in most cases, unless they are in a band or something cool like that. |

so for me, homeschooling is THE best of all. 'cept i don't have no friends. unless you guys will be my friends. pwease? I did homeschool (for the first time) all of last year (because of problems with the public school where I used to live), but it ended up being a disaster because we had to move out of state in the middle of the school year. I ended up only getting credit for one of the five classes I studied on, just because the Cincinnati Public Schools were too lazy to get on top of things and make sure I earned all of the credits that I deserved. So anyway, this year I'm doing the "Virtual Community School of Ohio," and it's going alright so far. The parts that suck are the fact that I have to stay pretty self-motivated, or you'll get way behind schedule, and most of all, the fact that I have to retake most of the stuff I did last year. I won't try to get into explaining all of my circumstances for the past many years, but here's a basic timeline: September 1992-December 1996: kindergarten-middle of 4th grade in Minnesota (have to work seperate from class to do more challenging stuff) Christmas 1996: move to Cincinnati January 1996-June 1998: remainder of 4th grade-end of 5th grade (enter "gifted program" that they have in Cincinnati) September 1998-June 2001: 6th-8th grade (continue in "gifted" program) Summer 2001: move back to Minnesota September 2001-May 2002: attend public school in Minnesota (retaking many classes since they don't offer AP for 9th graders... ended up fighting and getting a handful of the right ones) September 2002: start next school year in public school, but they majorly screw up my scheduling October 2002-December 2002: start home schooling Christmas 2002: move back to Cincinnati January-Late Spring 2003: continue home schooling and try to get credits from the school system, to no avail September 2003: start VCS Ohio (retaking things that I did last year and got no credit for, and only getting to do one AP class at a time because of budget issues! Oops, sorry. I get a little carried away with stuff about that sometimes, heh... As you can imagine, it has all been quite frustrating, and the circumstances that forced us to move are too complicated to get into right now. So really, I haven't had an accurate picture of successful home schooling myself, but I've seen a few families that make it work very well. I just don't think that it works very well as an "out" from the troubles of public schools... Some good things about doing school at home: more independence, more freetime (for me, to play guitar and record music), don't have to deal with the annoyances of public schools Some bad things about doing school at home: requires extreme self-motivation (or strict parenting Well, I'm finally finished. I apologize for causing any of you to fall asleep... |

Ive never been homeboy schooled I find that the fights stuffing in trash cans, and ridiculous (sp?) rules of public school get you ready for the real world in American soceity. I really do hate public schooling but ive only got 15 more days so Ill deal with it for the time being. Andrew |

i was not home schooled, or maybe I was. Anyway whatever you all are talking about is craziness. Most home schooled people I have known are shy shutins, they don't leave the house much. Why would any parent want to inflict home school on their kid? Crooked grazoooked blatinally falidilly is all I have to say. If you are home schooled cheer up I will be your friend. |

I was homeschooled. I stayed up past midnight doing biology, calculus, physics, and lit assingments more nights in high school than I stayed out late for fun in college. It is not always a walk in the park, but can be very well worth it. _________________ God is a place you will wait for the rest of your life |
