I used to not be able to tell their voices apart but its really easy too on "I Wasn't Prepared". Stacy's voice sounds a lot lower than Sherri's. I actually prefer Stacy's voice but I like it best when they sing together. _________________ trot trot trot |

at first i couldn't really tell but now its natural.. songs that are most "weird" imo are: marvelous things cause stacy reverts from higher pitch in the verse to lower pitch in the chorus, so sherri's chorus vocal can be confused with stacy's verse vocal. in sea king, stacy sings high and sherri sings low for the verses. back in the day i used to not be able to tell who was singing the lead in laughing city... listening to it right now and it's a joke - can you tell? once you get to tell their voices apart it's interesting because as a rule of thumb whoever sings the lead on the song was the one who wrote it, kind of like the beatles. actually, there is another strong resemblance to the beatles i notice in eisley, namely that stacy and sherri have stylistic roles very much comparable to john and paul, respectively. sherri writes more straightforwardly melodic songs that more often involve love as a theme, while stacy veers more into avante garde and weird themes and sounds, many to do with fantasy. as a result i usually like sherri song choruses more, while stacy songs i find the most "interesting"... like paul, sherri has a better sense of catharsis, while stacy like john has better lyrics. _________________ "You're my favorite person." - David Carradine, Kill Bill vol. 2 |

^ Interesting. I've always been a John girl so maybe that's why i've always favoured Stacey's songs over Sherri's. I really enjoy the fantasy quality in her lyrics it's refreshing to listen to lyrics so unlike anything else I listen too. Eisley as a whole is very different from the other bands I listen too. _________________ trot trot trot |

I'll have to disagree on this one. I believe Sherri's songs are more to do with fantasy and Stacy is more "straight forward". Sherri: Plenty of Paper; Sea King; Vintage People Stacy: Memories; Just Like We Do; Golly Sandra Of course there's always exceptions (Marvelous Things?) but that's how I think it stands. As for the John and Paul comparisons, i'm afraid I don't know enough about the girls to make such comparisons yet. |
