I am pretty sure the person who can speak ten languages, probably can. Out of all of the forumers, one of us is bound to be a language nerd.

I'm only fluent in English, although I know a fair amount of Spanish, just from growing up in Southern California.

My sister, however, knows a bunch. She knows Latin, Greek and Hebrew, and is learning Spanish and German right now. It's all for her Religion major, which she has a Masters in already. She needs some more languages to get her PhD.

Well, I can speak English and Cantonese.

I can sign the whole alphabet and a few words... I learned a bunch in elementary school, but I can't recall all of them, so it's just a few.
I took Spanish for a few years in the past too, so I can speak a little bit of it. I understand it better, though. I also know a few Italian words because I play music. Igpay Atinlay Ootay? lol But anyway, I didn't count any of those, so just two. I'd love to be fluent in... EVERYTHING though. Very Happy

I guess I could have gotten to 5 if I had counted Norwegian and Swedish as well. I definitely understand them quite well but I can't talk any of them very well. Only a certain south Swedish dialect... So I am gonna go with three: Dansk, Deutsch und English Smile

English of course.

Five years of Spanish class. I remember very little.

hmmm. Out of not-proper languages, you didn't mentio aigan, penguin. Aigan, of course, being the language that was invented in the 1930's by some crackpot of a dude and his friends who obviously had too much time on their hands. Thus by the same count you could say that me and my friends who found out about this on the internet too have much time on our hands. Indeed, we learned the language. I still am.

To speak aigan:

add the sound "aig" in front of every heard vowel in a word. thus "vowel" would be "vaigel". similarly, "similarly" would be "saigmaigaigarly".

Thus a whole sentence to the listener could sound just plaing stupid. Written down it looks like a bunch of typo's:

Thaigus aigI saigay taigo yaigou: thaigat aigapaigostraigophaige aigin thaige waigord "typaigo's" aigis daigebaigtaigable!

My mate craig (who's in one of my bands) can speak fluent German Aigan. Yes, Aigan, in German!!!! Very Happy Laughing Laughing

I'm not having you on.

English & Spanish, and I can read/write Latin but since it's a dead language, I don't speak it much. Confused

I counted American Sign Language as one. That counts as another one, right? It's English, but...not.
