i don't keep up much here anymore. what's the general consensus on room noises now that it's had time to bake under the sun? i found this: http://www.austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/2005-02-18/music_phases 5.html i pretty much agree with it entirely. Especially the whole beauty in the downfall of things. Except for the cranberries bit, i don't hear that at all. what do you all think? |

Except for the cranberries bit, i don't hear that at all. what do you all think? That guy is dumb. We've already heard 'Many Funerals", and if the rest of the album sounds anything like that, Eisley will far surpass "one or two LP's". The band is growing up. They are becoming adults. Of course their sound is going to grow out of that awkward "too old for my little pony not old enough for drivers license" phase. (which was a great phase by the way) I love Room Noiseseses. But I certainly can't wait for the next either. Go Eisley go eisley go! Defyyyyyyy. _________________ Gosh, writings music Ryan5 wrote: I still love Eisley a gamahucheing million time better than farting |

I don't really agree with the article and Quote: "Room Noises is the perfect escape for girls who've outgrown their My Little Ponies but aren't quite prepared for more adult outlets of expression, and that of course is its downfall. makes me want to kick him in the shins! However, I have never been never keen on the polished production value of Room Noises, missing the raw passion and eepy-creepiness of their earlier recordings. _________________ "A little less love, a little more common decency." - Kurt Vonnegut |

I agree with the point about Room Noises being slightly overproduced, but it is still a really freakin good album. But the idea that songs written by young girls can't be worth listening to is ludicrous. One of the primary beauties of art is that it allows you, a little bit, to see life from someone else's perspective. C.S. Lewis wrote "I regret that the brutes cannot write books. Very gladly would I learn what face things present to a mouse or a bee" I love the fact that the songs aren't "more adult outlets of expression." I love the songs they have written when they were younger, and I look forward to hearing the songs they are presently writing. |

Quote: "Room Noises is the perfect escape for girls who've outgrown their My Little Ponies but aren't quite prepared for more adult outlets of expression, and that of course is its downfall." =turd. What is the "adult" and "maturity" that everybody seems to be looking for in Eisley? Heartbreak? Anger? Dark, drowning despair? Because when I think of the artists some of those critics seem to worship, and I look at those artists' songs, that's what comes to mind. And I hardly consider it too adult to be wallowing in your girl problems. Room Noises, to me, is a good CD, but it deserves to be better. I thought the overproduction sucked out some of the emotional punch the old songs used to have. Kind of like seeing Rent directed by Chris Columbus. _________________ --Lin-- If I had something clever to say... Audioscrobbler lies the overcast |

because, you know, Memories is actually just about playing with dolls and watching cartoons. forget all that "dreary" business. we alllll know the duprees aren't really ever emotional about anything. but, as it's been said before, there will always be bad reviews. there will always be people who don't really understand why we like what we like, just as we don't understand why other people like what they like. i guess that's what's nice about being different. |
