so i was listening to Plenty of Paper, and then i realized that the Ice Dance from Edward Scissorhands is in it!

don't believe me? i made a comparison:

clicky

do you think it was purposeful, seeing how a picture of Stacy dressed as Edward exists?

i think it is... like, a shout-out perhaps.

or maybe it's just a song and i'm thinking about it too much.

great artists blatantly steal. they don't do homage. even stravinksy and picasso said so.

It MUST be right if Stravinsky and Picasso said it!

It is similar but not the same. I don't think it was intended.

I think a mashup is in order.

(I found a similar link between a song from Chrono Cross and the bridge of Just Like We Do. Maybe I should post it sometime.

great ears. its amazing how similar those are and while i kind of doubt it was done on purpose i do think it was a definite subconscious influence.

i noticed it because i went through a Danny Elfman phase. i pretty much listened to the Ice Dance 5 times a day at least for a solid month.

You can probably find 10 similar notes in many randomly selected songs. I imagine it's part stylistic influence, and part randomness.

Is listening to "Ice Dance" really a "Danny Elfman phase?"
