I've been a hardcore Eisley fan for a bit, but DEFINITELY not as long as I wished I could have been. (I was exposed to them late)

On Boyd's journal, he said this..

Quote:

They also love Rick Ruben (he's produced everything from the Jayhawks to System of a Down to Shakira to Jayz to Aerosmith to Johnny Cash to the Dixie Chicks!) Some of you newbies might never have heard, he wanted to sign and produce Eisley (a long story, archived in journals, but you'd have to dig it out... ha ha)

Can anyone go over what happened or perhaps show me where I can read about it? This sounds interesting.

Imagine Sherri giving a shout-out at the end of a track cos she's gangsta like that:
"You're crazy for this one Rick!"

O what could've been...

I never saw that. That's awesome.

Rick Ruben knows his music. He's a genius.

If it's really bugging anybody, PM him and ask him. Then post it in here or something.

When Eisley got signed, Rick Rubin was one of the producers that we talked with for their first album.
He really, really loved the band, and wanted to produce them, but at the time, he was with another label, and the only way that Eisley could go with him, was if they signed to that label, (which is no longer in existance).
So, he is actually one of the producers that Eisley would really like to see produce this next album.

Yeah. It could be a great compromise between a proven hit-maker and someone who seems like he truly understands and loves Eisley. Plus ... it's Rick Rubin!

The thing with Rick Rubin is that he makes artists do their homework. He makes them go through exercises to make for not just a better album, but a better band. Many people that work with him consider themselves better afterward.

Who would have thought all that from the guy that made beats for Run DMC?...

I wasn't sure. I wrote The Beastie Boys first, then I changed it. I think he worked on them both at around the same time. In fact, I think he worked with LL Cool J before that, even. He had already co-founded Def Jam records before all of it.

He's worked with all of the above.
