i think rp'ing is creepy, but i still understand their point in doing it. there's a difference between people stealing their pictures/posing and people just using them as characters in a story. role playing is just making up a story as you go along. when people roleplay like, as in, they say their name is sherri and use one of sherri's pics that she's posted, it doesn't mean they're trying to BE her. it's just a type of fanfiction. and they're just using sherri as their character. basically what i'm trying to say is that roleplaying is a form of a fanfiction, so when you say that people should stop rp'ing and just take up fanfiction, they are. i mean, if you say role playing is creepy, then you might as well just say that fanfiction as a whole is creepy. fanfiction is almost the same thing. because either way, you're writing about a celebrity and basing a story around them. and there's no way people are going to stop no matter how hard you try. you can kick and scream, but people are still going to do it. you can't force them to stop. ugh....i'm not sure what i'm trying to say makes any sense...? _________________ Will you marry me when you are seventy and have nothing to lose? |

Most fanfiction is about fictional characters. If people "RP'd" as fictional characters, it'd probably be less of an issue. Still weird, though. </opinion> _________________ Scriptozoology, a screenwriting blog .. Facebook |

Is that a real thing? I don't get it. Are they writing a book? I think I understand what you're saying, and I'm not trying to say you're wrong, It's your view, and I respect that. but, I do disagree. playing make-believe is fun I love hanging out with my little cousins and playing "house" or other kinds of "make-believe" games. It gives me an excuse to use my imagination. I love reading fiction and getting into a character. I think that is a perfectly normal thing to do. but, it's not fiction when one is using a real identity If someone could mistake it for the real thing,... it's not fiction anymore and it's at the person's expense. and the fans expense, as mentioned earlier it's just not nice. If anyone is participating in "fan-fiction" I think they should disclose up front that it's fake. and ask permission from the real person. but...I can't imagine asking anyone "is it cool if I use your name and pictures and identity to create some "fan-fiction online?" I don't know, this whole thing just really bothers me for some reason. |

when you do have one of those things, a livejournal or greatestjournal and you are roleplaying any celebrity you're supposed to have something that says "i'm not the real sherri/whoever" or "fake" and also their website links to a page that explains what exactly that journal is doing there.. that's why sometimes you see silly website links. people figure if some one is not too swift to figure that this isn't sherri, maybe a tempting website link will make them figure out what it REALLY is, because they were too busy to ignore the "fake fakekfkakekak" or something on the page. anyway, like someone said before these people are only a handful of all eisley fans. all of them, i'm sure, love and respect who they play, and that's why they play them. you can stumble upon some very respectable roleplay journals, i think everyone just sees the crappy ones. it is creepy when you think about it, but it is a good past time to improve your writing skills and connect with people. i know i learned about eisley from someone who roleplayed sherri in 2002 or 2003. i don't roleplay anyone in the band, but i have roleplayed before. i don't so much anymore because i think it's hard keeping up with someone elses life. i'm more into PBing, personally |

one girl stole pictures of chauntelle and i, in malibu, in swimsuits! that almost made me want to cry. whoever stole them lied and told the girl who found them (and told me about it) that i gave her my passwords and gave her permission to use them. THAT is what i hate. and the stuff about jesse lacey already. come on. im freaking engaged to a completely COMPLETELY different man, and they insist on writing about him. that's way over. most of them had fowl language and derogatory comments on them as well, and i fear people thinking they are real. i don't read or search for these journals. but i found a few that came up on my quest to find out who was stealing my pictures. i found out because a girl emailed me asking for full-sizes of some photos that someone had on a fake journal and they were personal photos that i had in my family-photobucket. i guess it's my fault for posting things in photobucket, but they WERE password protected. those things are no good against greedy hackers though. s. _________________ |
