PurpleCloud93 wrote: Yeah..ok. Wow. well, I don;t have a working record player (it needs a new stylus), but I buy all the singles I get on vinyl. It's cheaper. And waay cooler. If I have the money I'll get the CD, too (if I like the band enough to get the single anyway). I haven't yet got a full length on vinyl. I got Duke Special's Freewheel EP (one track is just bird noises!) _________________ She is handsome, she is pretty, she is the girl from Belfast City, she is courtin' one two three, please won't you tell me who is she? Vinyls are rad. My sister has Room Noises on Vinyl. She has it up on her wall but never listens to it... unless you want it for collector's value or just for fun there isn't any point buying it if you've got the CD. nathan _________________ "nathaniel" www.purevolume.com/GORADIO www.myspace.com/GORADIO www.myspace.com/natesmith |

Vinyl is cool. My mom has a bunch of old records but she sadly doesnt have any Pink Floyd which makes me sad _________________ (\__/) (='.'=) (")_(") This is Bunny. This thread is so funny. My high school days were in the 70's when records, cassette tapes and 8 track tapes were the only ways to hear recorded music, other than radio that is. A year or two ago my daughter was telling me about something she had heard that was on a flat, round disk that is bigger than a CD and has some arm that comes down on it while the disk turns. I said "a record?" She goes, "yeah, yeah thats it". I thought OMG I must be getting old. Vinyl has the dubious distinction of suffering from snaps, crackles, pops and skips since it is just a stylus needle picking up the vibrations that are imprinted on the vinyl itself and any dust, scratches or any other vinyl imperfections that are there. When CDs first came out it was like *HALLELUJAH* no more snaps, crackles or pops.....just pure music. I remember the first CD I listened to was on a huge system that the owner had payed thousands of dollars for. He had a chair that was strategically placed to get the full effect of the music. I sat down in the chair and the first thing he put on was a CD of a flowing brook and chirping birds that sounded like I was actually outside by the brook. I was in awe. If you ever decide to buy a record player and some vinyl records just be sure to never leave them in the sun or leave them in a hot car. Heat warps them easily. I left some on the head of my bed once and the sun melted them so they they looked like a wet cloth hanging over the edge. |
