I finally showed her Marvelous Things, and she seemed to like it. At any rate, her response was better than usual...

"Too weird" (Radiohead)
"Boring..." (Sigur Ros)
"This is just a bunch of noise!" (Smashing Pumpkins)
"Why doesn't he sing like a normal man?" (various artists)
etc.

Very Happy

From what I've read here, it seems that most people's parents enjoy Eisley's music. I suppose it's just the undeniable beauty of their harmonies and the somehow-innocent wisdom they possess. Or something... Confused It just seems that there is nothing about them that anyone can truly hate (or is there?), and that almost bugs me in a way. Smile

My mom doesn't really care all that much, but I usually go ahead and show her anyway, just to see what she thinks. It's a bit weird, as my dad is super music-oriented, while my mom doesn't understand why music is such a big part of some people's (namely, the rest of my family) lives... Confused She enjoys the occassional classical music or, everyone once in a blue moon, an "oldie" or two, but she could live perfectly happily without music, which boggles my mind.

Cool. I'm not sure my mom has listened to them yet. I gave her a CD-R, but that was a while back. She does love the Beatles, though. But that's cool about your mom. Very Happy

Strange, but cool to know that others have had a similar experience with their parents. I'm forever grateful for the mathematical/scientific contribution my mom made to my brothers and me, though. It's nice to have parents who are both gifted in the arts and the sciences, but each lean more heavily one way or the other.

my whole family hates radiohead, everything by them, and my sis LOVES sigur ros. i just dont get that... My dad LOVES postal service and grandaddy, which rules, so i can listen to them all the time, and he will defend them if one of my sisters says to turn it off.

My dad bought Marvelous Things for me and I made him listen to it and he really liked it. After a few things in the cd player he was trying to sing along with the girls *in a really high voice, mind you* and attempting to do little dance moves and all. Mom, unfortunately, would rather have a root canal than listen to Eisley. Doesn't stop me from listening though. Or singing along *insert evil chortle here* She likes Marvelous Things better than Laughing City or my EP1 tho...her exact words were "It's shorter..." haha Mom doesn't have real good taste if you ask me. But she usually tolerates everything I listen to even if she turns it down to a whisper in the car. Rolling Eyes

my mother and my step dad both like eisley

one night i was sitting in the dining room and i hear eisley coming from somewhere in my house... so i start to run upstairs into my room thinking someone started messing with my cds and before i got up to my room i noticed my step dad listening to them.

i was like "yay!"
and i started to tell him about my knowledge of eisley and how i have a t-shirt and the new ep (mind you this was before it came out), and a poster and stuff.

my mom isn't really into music at all, and my dad who is a music fanatic said after hearing a couple songs, "they are just too whiney" which prompted me to say, "hey so is bob dylan but you like him." he laughed.

Yeah, that's probably my favorite, too. Hehe... I hear it all too often, too, with Thom Yorke, Jeff Buckley, Jonsi of Sigur Ros, Jonathan of Mercury Rev--the list goes on and on. Oh well, my mom is the best otherwise... Cool

My parental units have taken Oath to hate everything I listen to, and they have carried it out rather flawlessly.
