The new Observer came out today (a day early), and had a few nice things to say about little ole Eisley, and a quote from a band member.
First, Zac Crain did his "best in local music" list and included both Eisley eps saying "Just give up and give in already."
Then, the paper asked various local artists to pick their favs of the year. Sherri was one who got to participate in this. She picked...(drum roll please)...Death Cab for Cutie, Transatlanticism. She said " First of all, Death Cab scores high for making a greater record than their previous records (which are all good). From start to finish Transatlanticism (an indie record, mind you) slathers me with the happiest, dreamiest, most honest-est songs in any collection I've heard this year. Oh yeah, and since this is going into print...we'd love to tour with Death Cab."

Sherri, feel free to correct this if they got any part of what you said wrong.

Oops, the other piece comes from last weeks Observer (my bad). Zac wrote the following about Eisley.
" A year ago, Eisley was still MossEisley, and the band was still on the verge of something instead of being in the thick of it. But you could hear it coming, see it on the way. You wouldn't have predicted the deal with Warner Bros. necessarily or the tours with Coldplay, but you could imagine it. Standing in the audience of one of their ever-growing shows back then, it was difficult not to fall in love with it all. How the group (band members names here) connected with each other and how that connection spread throughout the crowd until everyone was somehow part of it. It was everything music should be and, these days, rarely is.
A year later, and little has changed, except Eisley is even better at what they do. Marvelous Things, their second EP for Warner Bros. (the first, Laughing City, was released in May), shows off a sound strengthened by a couple of months under the bright lights; the harmonies are watertight, the guitars tougher, the rhythm section getting in the photo instead of just providing the frame. Live favorite "Sea King" finally makes an appearance on the record, and pretty much sums up what the band is all about, with its 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' lyrics, Sunday-drive simplicity and sad-eyed beauty. Expect even more, and better, when Eisley's first full-length arrives sometime next year, produced by Rob Schnapf."

ok, there you are...

I read the Dallas Observer this weekend while I was at Gloria's Restaurant eating huevos con papas and watching their Sony TV.

it's pronounced "chasdew"

someday i'll find the Observer article that made me a fan of Eisley long before i even heard their music. Zac Crain wrote it and I think it was called "the force is with them". That article should be required reading for all new fans.

chasd00 - I think I have an extra copy of that D.O. you're looking for (I grabbed a bunch when it came out). If you're looking for it in print, I could send you a copy. Let me know...
Boyd probably posted the article somewhere on the site, I can't remember. It was good, I should go back and read it again.
