well there's no need to bring up someting bad that's long been forgotton. That's just immature and silly (i'm reffering to the Sherri/back/joke thing).

I needed braces... woop. I don't wear them any more.

I know someone who's just had braces put in.

he's 21.

My cousin got his after he graduated College. It's off now. He's on the retainer phase.

who's tried that invisalign thing? I imagine it hurts. Kinda like when you haven't worn your retainer in like a week and then you wear it again for the first time.

I don't know... its just kinda mean that you think its silly for him/her to have braces. That person has probaly been made fun of most of his/her life (like I have) over dumb crooked teeth. I have such a complex about my smile after being made fun of for so long.
I'm in college and can't afford braces. I'm hoping student loans will help me pay for them. I've had problems with my teeth my entire life and I'm ready to get it taken care of. I'm 21... I think its worth people giggling at me for a few more years rather than me covering my mouth every time I laugh for the rest of my life.

I love the way this topic is evolving!

Yeah I'm in the 'retainer' phase at the moment. My teeth have just moved back to their original place. I feel sad for Americans. Thanks to our NHS system (which is no longer with dental work unfortunately) I got mine free!

And the person that posted a picture of their purple and yellow brace.... AMAZO! It looks so cool. I was always a red/yellow/orange girl myself, but I wish I'd known about that style sooner!

I totally understand that. I need braces and I'm 19... so I feel that if I got them now, everyone would think it's strange. But afterwards you can smile confidently, so I dunno. I think it's worth it. Maybe someday I'll be able to afford them.

my aunt got braces when she was like 35 simply because she wanted her teeth a little straighter and could afford them. she's a dental hygenist herself so i guess she's a little teeth obsessed, haha. she did look a little strange with braces but not THAT weird.

didn't gwen stefani also get braces later in her life?

Yeah I remember her on that mtv new years eve 99/00 thing when they played "It's the End of the World" and she had braces...don't know why I remember that. Well I guess it was a big new years and didn't expect to see her with braces. I don't remember teeth being that bad before she had them on...

Yeah, Gwen had braces on for the Mtv awards too back in whatever....
I thought she looked cute with them.... I don't know....
I don't get what's so strange about seeing a person who's not twelve with braces in/on anyway.

I never got what was so terrible about braces (other than having to wear them). I mean, we all know why people have them, we all know tons of people get them. It's not like we're waking around with stints on our eyelids or something. I've never had braces, and I've never been freaked out by anyone with them. It's a little metal band on our teeth. Big deal.

They hurt. Lots. After the dentist would tighten mine, I felt like he had tried to hurt me on purpose and they would make my mouth ache for days. I had to put wax on the sharp metal constantly. I'm so glad I don't have them anymore!
