Eisley, "Marvelous Things" (Warner Bros.)

This second EP from 2003 buzz band extraordinaire Eisley is curious. The Texas quintet has juice and decent radio support, but lacks a full-length album. (The band's Web site says one is on the way, but what's taking so long?) The dreamy harmonies sound inspired by Throwing Muses and Smashing Pumpkins, and some of the lush soundscapes are ripped off from the Beatles. The title track inserts madrigal templates onto basic pop structure to beautiful results. The gals get a tad whiny in "Memories," but they sound a decade older and more mature in the musically adventurous "Sea King."

hm not bad. but hey, it takes awhile to make a full length appear without half of it being filler.

eps are a potent and comprehensive look at a bands abilities that leave you wanting more (like the strokes and the yeah yeah yeahs)

how appropriate that they put the decemberists right below them

What do they think? Full length albums fall out of the sky?

No, they grow in imagination and fall out of your nose.

I've got two or three stored up I could loan ya if you need one. Somehow I don't think Eisley needs to borrow one of mine, though - they're better off with a "grow-your-own" variety.

rock on.
