http://www.songmeanings.net Some of the people who post are spot on with their interpretations, but for every song you look up, there are people with some pretty ridiculous comments. I get a kick out of this site. Check out these beauties: On "Golly Sandra": stacy is singing about a dog? i think of my dog like my child, and a dog's life is very quick.... Sorry, just wanted to try an alternative angle on one tape, when they're playing live...Sherri said the song was about Christie and how much she's grown up and yadayadayada. On "Trolleywood": Sherri DuPree is a fan of Ray Bradbury, so it may have something to do with Dandelion Wine. It makes a lot of sense that it could be about D.W. And the grand prize winner: On "Telescope Eyes" (original): this version of the song is horrible. i can't believe they said 'you freak'. the new version is so much better. _________________ "Hello, Mother Leopard. Haha!! yeah... I get a kick out of reading some interpretations too. Some people are really off-the-wall sort of characters. 
Oh well... Music is for all sorts of people anyway. They can interpret it the way they want to. That's the beauty of it. Write a song or draw a picture all sorts of people can relate to. You don't gotta be stringent on the meaning. If a listener wants to think about their dog while listening to "golly sandra," let her be. amen. (ha!) |

Yeah I heard the Room Noises version first and I definitely don't prefer it. The first time I heard Eisley was when I saw them live, and I absolutely loved them, but Telescope Eyes stood out to me as my least favorite song they played all night. No. I was just stringing together the two comments: [1] that I thought "you freak" (in the first verse) was suitable, and [2] that I thought the whole second verse (which begins with the line, "Go cry, go run away") also contains some good lyrics. _________________
