How much money would you be willing to risk on a one time chance, where you're an 80/20 favorite, and getting even money? (i.e. bet $100, get $100 and your bet back if you win)

It's only a one time thing, so if you bet your life savings, you're 20% to be completley broke.

I'm going with $500. I'd go a few hundred more, but I'm about to end my internship and I won't have an income until the fall.

Where in the world can you get 80/20 odds of winning? Let me know. I'm all over that one.

I have bet over a thousand dollars before with just a slight advantage over the house. Years ago. I don't gamble anymore as the house generally has the advantage.

i don't like to gamble. i generally don't enjoy casino games because the odds are against you. i see it as a poor investment. Here i don't even like the fact that i have to put it on a one time deal but i'll take the chance. It's not like we're playing roullette or anything but i still hate taking the chance. I have to laugh at people who play games like roullette.

"what's the payout on placing a bet on a single number?"

35 to 1

"there's 36 numbers, plus the 0 and 00"

that's right sir.

"see ya"

casino's are f-ing genious. i want to find another way of getting millions of people to play against the odds.

Casinos were first (and likely still are) run by criminals. And Native Americans. Criminals who knew how to commit crimes (stealing from you) but doing it legally.
