Obviously the long distance part would need to have trips to see each other here and there, and it couldn't go as long distance forever (at some point someone will have to move). But with modern communication devices, it certainly can be maintained over the course of a short duration (such as the 1 1/2 years I did with my college girlfriend who is now my wife).

yeah, I'll admit that if I hadn't been able to see robert about every 2 or 3 months it would've been even worse. Skype was a lifesaver though.

Hooray for Skype! I should send them a check.

What's that you say? eBay owns Skype? Well, then they certainly don't need my money!

This thread has given me some reassurance. Smile
I guess I'm pretty young to be thinking so seriously but I dunno...
Come to think of it, I've maintained strong friendships with people far away before so it shouldn't be much different having a boyfriend far away...
But the lack of smoochage will be something tough to get through.
Haha, smoochage... I made up a word.

Oh, what's skype?

Yes and no. I mean, it's a messenger service like AIM but it's better for voice and video chats.

Photographs, drawings and eccentric phone and MSN conversations tide me through. We've been doing fine for the last two years, though I suspect it is an easier transition to make when you're already accustomed to not spending every day with each other.

Exactly....that was all I am saying, that long distant relationships without being to see each other every once in awhile do not work!
